Maximum Clipping Distances for SWA Cables
In this video we use BS7671 On-Site Guide to workout the maximum distance between supports for steel wire armour SWA cable in accessible positions. Using Appendix D table D1 in the On-Site Guide we can find the clipping distances both on the horizontal and vertical plane for SWA cable. The video includes a full demonstration on how to calculate the maximum distances of the cable supports.

Always helpful
Thanks 👍🏻

Thanks 👍🏻
I was always tort to space the cleats every 10 or 15 inches apart depending on how the cables are run horizontal every 10inc vertical every 15 inch Excellent video as always Gaz 👍
What are inches?
@@GSHElectrical that’s how I was tort . Ok 254mm and 383mm
@@GSHElectrical a unit of linear measure equal to one twelfth of a foot (2.54 cm). "the toy train is four inches long"
@@GSHElectrical the measurement of the Realm prior to the EEC later EU interference. Easier to see on a tape measure.
@@dkaloupis75 There's always one
Thanks Gaz & team 👌
Without any official measurements, I would clip every alternate brick horizontally and vertically, every 3 courses. I would imagine that is well within regs.
Sounds like a good idea 👍🏻
On horizontal I always do 450mm.
Even for more than 15 or less than/equal to 20mm?
I almost never use cable cleats, if a cable is on show. They look so ugly. I use Large Buckle Clips the same type as the DNO have been using for years
We use cleats at college
Those buckle clips are uglier. On the other hand, the big black thick cable strewn across the wall is so handsome.
Vernier caliper just left the chat....
Thats when Engineers meet Electricians😀😀😀😀😀
