    • Would it be possible to make the bow smaller? In lenght

      @PazNthru@PazNthruАй бұрын
    • @@PazNthru A good bowyer could, theoretically, but just shortening a bow is risky business. It would require a lot of scraping, retillering, redoing the horn knocks, etc. On top of that, the shorter you go, the more stress the wood is under, especially at those kinds of weights. If you don't have the background in bowyering, especially heavy weight longbows like this, I wouldn't advise it.

    • Yeah, but you'd need to use a much denser wood. If you're not going with a horn bow then I probably would have used Ipe as it is almost 3 times stronger than hickory and it is another diffuse porous wood, so it makes an excellent bow wood although if you make the bow too light of poundage and too long/wide, sometimes the wood gets ridiculously thin. @@PazNthru

  • Hi! I just recently discovered your videos and find them entertaining. You have probably found a way to string that thing by now, but just in case I'll try to help out. I could string it for you and I'm a 75 year old broken down mess. If you hang a couple of straps from supports and put the limb tips into said straps then step on the bow in the center. Press down with your foot and there you go. The straps should be positioned so that they hang down far enough apart to provide good leverage but not so far that they could slip of the limb tips. The bow is so long that an assistant would still be advised for positioning the string in the groove. I gave myself a hernia stringing a 60# recurve when I first started archery (not all that long ago), and came up with this method after that. I was using a standard stringer when that happened. Hope this helps.

Thows were the only way I was able to get my #130 strung on my own and make sure the bowyers knot on the string is super tight and well set You got this bro the feeling when u get it strung is as good a a big buck going 5 ft and dropping
