Desperate Buck Tries Drowning Wild Dog to Escape
After being caught by a lone wild dog, this Nyala tries to escape by going into the water, dragging the wild dog in with it.
Fortunately, the Nyala's screams attract lions which indirectly save it!

Benji Solms a guide at Serondella had the privilege of witnessing this drama unfold and shared it with LatestSightings.com.
"It all began with a lone wild dog chasing a female Nyala. However, the Nyala was not ready to give in just yet and swiftly outsmarted the dog. She jumped into the dam and managed to get out of harm’s way for now."
Wild dogs, also known as African painted dogs, are incredibly skilled and efficient hunters. They are highly social animals, living in packs with a structured hierarchy. This teamwork is the key to their hunting success. They have an impressive success rate, with estimates suggesting that they are successful in about 80% of their hunts.
"The wild dog stood at the water's edge and forced the Nyala to go deeper. As the Nyala got deeper into the water, the buck must have thought she was in the clear, but exhaustion started taking its toll on her. That’s when she started struggling to stay afloat. Her situation seemed hopeless as she struggled."
Nyala and many other types of bucks are not known for their swimming abilities. While they may wade through shallow waters and navigate small streams, they are not adapted for swimming long distances or in deep waters. Their bodies are built more for agility on land than in water.
"Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, an unexpected hero arrived on the scene-a lioness, casually walking from the opposite side of the dam. Curious about all the commotion, she came closer to investigate. With her two cubs by her side, the lioness caught sight of the wild dog."
"Rather than getting a potential meal, the lioness decided to chase after the wild dog. With the wild dog now out of sight and the lioness distracted, the nyala could escape. She used the small window she was given and managed to run away, unharmed."
Nature's unpredictability often brings us to the edge of our seats, and this incredible experience is a testament to that. It answers the question of why people go over and over to these remote, wild places. It’s the suspense of not knowing what could transpire next that keeps people so glued to and addicted to these wild spaces.

So God sacrificed his son who is also himself so he could forgive us for sin he created to be unavoidable anyway? 😂
The buck’s death was simply postponed, you know its leg was injured and it won’t be able to run as fast now. The rest of the pack will find it, or some lions. These animals rarely die of old age.
This is just like the video of when a zebra was drowning the lioness to escape her grip.
Wild dogs strength are in numbers.
É isso mesmo
Yes but they can live solitary as well but the success rate is lower but Lycaons like Solo showed that even alone, hunting isn’t impossible as a Lycaon!
No. Their strength isn’t purely in numbers, genius (sarcasm) … They are just as successful and capable at hunting alone as well hunting in groups, multiple videos/shorts prove that. In addition, there are cases that show they are pretty physically capable by themselves against larger prey, such as, for instance, a documented case showing where a lone wild dog took down a female kudu (which weigh anywhere 396 to 517 lbs). That is very impressive.
impressive how strong that dog is, for some reason things seem even more violent when the predator is growling like a dog
Funnily enough it's the Nyala doing the sounds. Predators usually don't make sounds when hunting, unless they are directly communicating with their kin.
That was the Nyala screaming in pain, not the dog.
I couldn't believe how strong that darn dog was too. I'm glad the buck got away.
The was the nyala distress calling, not the dog growling.
The buck was lucky that it's was only one dog not the whole pack 😂

Generally they roam in packs right?
Yes, but occasionally they do hunt alone.
Pack is a family(alpha male and alpha female+their children+their brothers and sisters+ their old children who never left the nest). Dog pack is one big family. This dog doesn't have a family.
Plot twist, a crocodiles in the water 😂

Oh boy that was funny still. The buck was like let's drag this dude into water. I may not able to defeat you but may be some corodile can. Meanwhile lioness don't worry buddy I'm there. Dog got the taste of its own wildness.😂😂😂
Be happy you were born human. I was absolutely waiting for a surprise crocodile.
That's a Nyala. It means Onion, as the wavy stripes resemble how an onion looks when chopping.
Poor herbivores, their very existence is only a matter of time. If they are killed by lions, then this is even the most successful outcome of all possible, since hyenas and wild dogs will kill for a long time and painfully
so what do you think happens to predators when they're old or wounded? and they all get old or wounded at some point. yeah.
The vid title and description refer to the Nyala as a buck, but at the same keeps calling it "she". 🤨😄

I feel the description is kinda not all true,, where is the cub, why the video cut it, its like the end its not what the description says, I watch other videos, lioness with a cub never let it far from them, if they bring it with them to hunt they usually let them join the hunt but the vid and the description is kinda not the same
The bites will make the buck die in one way or a nother - the backleg must be very damaged.
