Canada's level of play was below the new world standards. Czechia has improved significantly as many other countries have. Canada's coaching is heavily reliant on old NHL standards, hard hits and taking senseless penalties does not win games.

Díky, bratře. Vy jste nám hezky naložili ve skupině. Vypadá to, že nás to pěkně profackovalo a probralo. Velká smůla pro vás. Je to škoda, tahle vaše generace měla udělat medaili. Ale zase na druhou stranu je vidět, že nad Tatrou se blýská na lepší časy co se hokeje týče. Deset let zpátky jste vy i my dostávali od Finů, Američanů či Kanaďanů rychtu, dneska nás nebo vás musí uklovat v prodloužení. To je jasný kvalitativní posun. Bohužel, formát turnaje je nastaven tak, že vpodstatě jediný zápas rozhoduje o úspěchu či neúspěchu.

Veľká gratulácia vášmu tímu. Ukázali bojovné srdce a aj to povestné šťastie sa nakoniec priklonilo k lepšiemu tímu. Prajem vám zlato, keď už naši chlapci neprešli. Držím palce. As a Czech, I have to give you respect, you gave a better performance in the 2nd and 3rd periods and if it wasn't for the fact that your players such as Bedard, Fantilli, Wright or Benson who were not allowed to play in the tournament by NHL, it could have been a completely different story.

Dach broke his wrist in the tourney a few years ago so there was zero % chance they'd let Bedard & Korchinski go. Unless the rule got changed I believe it's a team decision if a player goes, not any NHL policy against it.

Great game. Perhaps some would argue that the Canadians didn’t have the rub of the green which they deserved due to their many lethal chances, but whilst saying that I felt as though the Czechs executed their match plan well.

Congrats to Czechia and good luck in the next round. This seems to have been one of the weakest Canadian teams we have seen in awhile. Not a lot of finish around the net and some really weak goaltending. This team didn't look right from the start of the tournament. I labelled them the B team even before the elimination round. Sadly it turned out to be all too true.

Perfect? It is like the previous championship, you lost to Czechia 2:5, now 0:2 against Sweden. The quarterfinals are lottery. In the finals, you could lose too, it ended 3:2.

The announcer was pretty hard on Rousseau, especially on the first goal. The flex these guys have on their sticks makes their wrist shots lethal. Body language and stick motion said that puck was going glove side...then a flick the other way at the end...and bango, short side. Then when Canada scored on wrist shots, he calls them snipers...

A consolation payback for last year's finals, but hand on heart: I'd trade last year's gold for this QF victory 11 times out of 10. The game winning goal was a lucky bounce. A cleverly timed shot for sure, but it was evidently released with high hopes for a lucky bounce. And lady luck just said: eh, why not. Unlucky for Canada, lucky for us. GGs, Canada, you guys are always the ultimate challenge.

as an American you expect to see Canada in the finals but Czech Republic has been producing great teams for years. Even the Germans are playing respectable compared to years past. US, Sweden, Finland always have pretty solid teams. Overall, great competition so far in the tournament.

Absolutely incredible game. It could easily ended with 6-2 for Canada as well. Especially 2nd and 3rd period were lethal and as a Czech fan, I was close to heart attack several times. But it´s hockey: our success was driven by great performance of the goaltender, dedication of the defence, strong will to win the game and of course bit of luck. Respect for Team Canada. For us, there are two more games. Without winning those two, the gold medals won´t come to Czechia. And we want it here!

Good game Czechia & Canada! Not the strongest goaltending performance - especially on the first two, nice comeback though! That final go-ahead is every goalies worst nightmare, deflection off your own defense - it's the only one I can't fault Rousseau with! On the opposite end, great job by Czechia goalie! This tournament is always a wild card - and although, as a Canadian, I'm hoping for gold, it's great to see awesome hockey played by the young gents, with no real guarantees! Honestly, it's a humbling experience to not win all the time...good luck to all the final teams!

Good luck in the semis. The Canadian team wasn't great this year too many stupid penalties and always wanted to go for a check instead of playing the puck. Good learning experience for them and Czechia team is getting better every year if Canada doesn't improve their coaching style we are going to see many of losses in our future. Puck is more important than a big hit and our Canadian team has to realize the world juniors is not a cake walk anymore every team has skill now. Improve or be obsolete.

Yeah this is probably the weakest Canada has looked in years. Rousseau has had a very rough tournament, they can't hit the net, coordination is off etc.

Our boys just didn't have it this year, missing our top stars or not they just didn't show much from the gates. Other countries are definitely catching up....and quick. Congrats Czechia. These teenagers have so much pressure on them every year.

As a Canadian, all I have to say is...good job Czechia, you guys deserve this. I hope you go all the way (for the first time in more than 2 decades). It's been pretty boring seeing the same 4 (technically 5, but warmongering Russians are gone now) teams dominating the medals of this tournament, especially since the quality of hockey development outside of those nations has improved dramatically. So it's good to see outcomes like this, as it represents a growth in the sport. Sweden I think are still the favourites, and if they beat the Swiss (and it looks likely that they will), they will face Czechia in the semifinals. But I like Czechia's chances there. Sweden are a great hockey nation, but they've only won this tournament once since 1996 (the year it adopted a round-robin opening round, and single-elimination playoffs), and they have not performed that well on home ice either, finishing 5th in 2000, 4th in 2007 and 2nd in 2014. Also, Czechia ended their gold medal ambitions last year, in a 2-1 OT decision. Anyway, whatever happens, I know it'll be an extremely hard-fought game. Good luck!

Finally witnessed the explosion play by Canada’s forwards. As in terms of, team play, shots, heart, some physical play. Defence, I felt played there best game of the holiday event. I would of promoted Bonk to the first pair of defenders. He had a great game. That deflection has nothing on him or his play. Same with Geekie, I would of had him playing with Canada’s #17. See how the calibration of other countries has come. Not 10-1 games anymore. Germany’s up-set the other day. Fantastic hockey. Had me on my toes! I’d take a 6’2 - 6’4 athletic goalie, over a 5’10 skilled goalie all day long.

Anyway Canada has many great fans who know that the last year's final could have gone either way, and the same goes for this match obviously. Nerve-wracking. Canada's level of play was below the new world standards. Czechia has improved significantly as many other countries have. Canada's coaching is heavily reliant on old NHL standards, hard hits and taking senseless penalties does not win games.

Díky, bratře. Vy jste nám hezky naložili ve skupině. Vypadá to, že nás to pěkně profackovalo a probralo. Velká smůla pro vás. Je to škoda, tahle vaše generace měla udělat medaili. Ale zase na druhou stranu je vidět, že nad Tatrou se blýská na lepší časy co se hokeje týče. Deset let zpátky jste vy i my dostávali od Finů, Američanů či Kanaďanů rychtu, dneska nás nebo vás musí uklovat v prodloužení. To je jasný kvalitativní posun. Bohužel, formát turnaje je nastaven tak, že vpodstatě jediný zápas rozhoduje o úspěchu či neúspěchu.

As a Czech, I have to give you respect, you gave a better performance in the 2nd and 3rd periods and if it wasn't for the fact that your players such as Bedard, Fantilli, Wright or Benson who were not allowed to play in the tournament by NHL, it could have been a completely different story.

Great game. Perhaps some would argue that the Canadians didn’t have the rub of the green which they deserved due to their many lethal chances, but whilst saying that I felt as though the Czechs executed their match plan well.

Congrats to Czechia and good luck in the next round. This seems to have been one of the weakest Canadian teams we have seen in awhile. Not a lot of finish around the net and some really weak goaltending. This team didn't look right from the start of the tournament. I labelled them the B team even before the elimination round. Sadly it turned out to be all too true.

Perfect? It is like the previous championship, you lost to Czechia 2:5, now 0:2 against Sweden. The quarterfinals are lottery. In the finals, you could lose too, it ended 3:2.

The announcer was pretty hard on Rousseau, especially on the first goal. The flex these guys have on their sticks makes their wrist shots lethal. Body language and stick motion said that puck was going glove side...then a flick the other way at the end...and bango, short side. Then when Canada scored on wrist shots, he calls them snipers...

A consolation payback for last year's finals, but hand on heart: I'd trade last year's gold for this QF victory 11 times out of 10. The game winning goal was a lucky bounce. A cleverly timed shot for sure, but it was evidently released with high hopes for a lucky bounce. And lady luck just said: eh, why not. Unlucky for Canada, lucky for us. GGs, Canada, you guys are always the ultimate challenge.
as an American you expect to see Canada in the finals but Czech Republic has been producing great teams for years. Even the Germans are playing respectable compared to years past. US, Sweden, Finland always have pretty solid teams. Overall, great competition so far in the tournament.
I love the parity in international hockey. The sport is truly international.

Absolutely incredible game. It could easily ended with 6-2 for Canada as well. Especially 2nd and 3rd period were lethal and as a Czech fan, I was close to heart attack several times. But it´s hockey: our success was driven by great performance of the goaltender, dedication of the defence, strong will to win the game and of course bit of luck. Respect for Team Canada. For us, there are two more games. Without winning those two, the gold medals won´t come to Czechia. And we want it here!

Good game Czechia & Canada! Not the strongest goaltending performance - especially on the first two, nice comeback though! That final go-ahead is every goalies worst nightmare, deflection off your own defense - it's the only one I can't fault Rousseau with! On the opposite end, great job by Czechia goalie! This tournament is always a wild card - and although, as a Canadian, I'm hoping for gold, it's great to see awesome hockey played by the young gents, with no real guarantees! Good luck in the semis. The Canadian team wasn't great this year too many stupid penalties and always wanted to go for a check instead of playing the puck. Good learning experience for them and Czechia team is getting better every year if Canada doesn't improve their coaching style we are going to see many of losses in our future. Puck is more important than a big hit and our Canadian team has to realize the world juniors is not a cake walk anymore every team has skill now. Improve or be obsolete.
I don't get why they don't hold this in the summer I feel like if they did and let anyone under 20 play we'd still have players like bedard and other nhl'ers

I am no expert on junior hockey, but after watching some of Canada last week, I felt this team did not have what it took to win this time.
Yeah this is probably the weakest Canada has looked in years. Rousseau has had a very rough tournament, they can't hit the net, coordination is off etc.

It was amazing that it was played extremely correctly today. There was only one power-play (penalty for 2 minutes).

Our boys just didn't have it this year, missing our top stars or not they just didn't show much from the gates. Other countries are definitely catching up....and quick. Congrats Czechia. These teenagers have so much pressure on them every year.

As a Canadian, all I have to say is...good job Czechia, you guys deserve this. I hope you go all the way (for the first time in more than 2 decades). It's been pretty boring seeing the same 4 (technically 5, but warmongering Russians are gone now) teams dominating the medals of this tournament, especially since the quality of hockey development outside of those nations has improved dramatically. So it's good to see outcomes like this, as it represents a growth in the sport. Sweden I think are still the favourites, and if they beat the Swiss (and it looks likely that they will), they will face Czechia in the semifinals. But I like Czechia's chances there. Sweden are a great hockey nation, but they've only won this tournament once since 1996 (the year it adopted a round-robin opening round, and single-elimination playoffs), and they have not performed that well on home ice either, finishing 5th in 2000, 4th in 2007 and 2nd in 2014. Also, Czechia ended their gold medal ambitions last year, in a 2-1 OT decision. Anyway, whatever happens, I know it'll be an extremely hard-fought game. Good luck!

Finally witnessed the explosion play by Canada’s forwards. As in terms of, team play, shots, heart, some physical play. Defence, I felt played there best game of the holiday event. I would of promoted Bonk to the first pair of defenders. He had a great game. That deflection has nothing on him or his play. Same with Geekie, I would of had him playing with Canada’s #17. See how the calibration of other countries has come. Not 10-1 games anymore. Germany’s up-set the other day. Fantastic hockey. Had me on my toes! I’d take a 6’2 - 6’4 athletic goalie, over a 5’10 skilled goalie all day long.

For the first time since 2019, Canada crash out of the quarterfinals. Certainly disappointing for Canada. Will the Czech manage manage to win another medal this year? It is something which only the future can tell us.
Why the foul in the last second?:( When you don't know how to lose... Everybody must lose sometimes. Anyway Canada has many great fans who know that the last year's final could have gone either way, and the same goes for this match obviously. Nerve-wracking. As a Czech, I was really sceptical about Hrabal since our loss with Slovakia, but the USA game and now Canada game made me believe that he has a really bright future maybe even in the senior team.
