.............................................................
Introducing the all-new Nissan Qashqai!
Now we’ve got a big announcement to make… We think this might be the most important new car launched in 2021! Why, we hear you ask? Well in the UK, this car is SO popular! The question is, does the new version of the Qashqai have what it takes to keep up with its predecessor, as well as the competition? Well, it’s time to find out!
When it comes to design, it really mirrors a traditional crossover SUV look, and once you’re inside, you’ll find a load of new tech and more than enough room for transporting a family around.
When it comes to performance, there’s just the one engine to choose from - a 1.3-litre turbo petrol. You’ll be able to get it with either 138hp or 156hp, while the latter can also come with AWD.
But what do you think - does it really warrant the £27,000 starting price? You’ll have to join Mat and find out!

  • Really like this new model, think it's a good looking evolution modern enough with out being isolating. Interior upgrades look good too, with really decent spec lists available, driver aids and saftey kit. Also it's nice to see an SUV that's actually just being wat it shud be an SUV! Family friendly with all its functions easy to use for parents etc on the go while coping with a busy car full. Instead of all the new SUV's that are trying to be everything to everyone, sports car, coupe, and family SUV all rolled in to one. Problem is they never seem to nail the over all product. Nissan seem to have done well with the brief here, maybe not perfect, but better than some others, think this will continue to be the SUV Daddy!

  • I think Nissan done a better job with the Qashqai than the juke. I know you only get one engine in the new Qashqai but at least you get two power outputs, so you get a choice. The new 1.3 litre engine suits the Qashqai as it reduces emissions and improves fuel economy without loosing the benefit of having a manual gearbox.

Coming from an Altima with the zero G seats…..I was spoiled. Also the suspension a little stiff in cold weather and road noise a problem. I hope they’ve solved those problems for 2021!

    • I own the 2022 model year Tekna+ . it is five months old and has 5000 miles on the clock. It is without a doubt the best car I have owned. The only downside is that the 20 inch wheels, can make the ride a little choppy on particularly bad roads. However, the seats are very comfortable. I keep the steering set on sport mode, which is just about perfect and very precise. I do not find it lacking in power and acceleration. Perhaps the biggest thing is its economy. On a recent journey of 40 miles, it returned 50.1 mpg. Obviously that was with very careful, driving, but it can be done. My average mpg is around 40 to 45. I love the automated driving systems, which are great on the motorway. You can just set it and relax. The car will do all the work, providing you keep your hands on the wheel. It is particularly useful in stop/start traffic conditions, which is inevitable on British motorways. On the country roads, you can drive spiritedly in sports mode. The MultiLink suspension works a treat, at handling twisty, bends. Finally, it is a great car for the winter. Heated seats and steering wheel, are a real luxury, on a cold and frosty morning. Also the heated windscreen is a blessing, as you don’t need to get cold hands scraping it. Only a few years ago you would’ve had to have paid £100,000 + for an S Class Mercedes to get these features, and that reminds me about the head up display. It is one of the largest on the market and gives you all the information straight onto the windscreen and makes it look like it’s actually on the road. Not only does it show you basic stuff, like speed and directions from the satnav, but also the song that is playing, and who is calling you. It will also show you when the safety features are working, like Lane keep assist etc.

    • The 2019 qashqai is still very beautiful just different styling. I have now ordered a new qashqai tekna 1.3l 158 hp automatic with 4 x4 drive like my 1.5l diesel 2019 model. I just hope it’s as quick with new engine with mild hybrid system.

In fact the amount of carbon footprint to produce a new car for someone who has already got a 2 yr old model is not at all good for the planets envoirement. ps excuse spelling

  • Shame the front passenger seat doesn't fold forward at all so you can't carry anything really long in the car. I think they slipped up there because otherwise the storage in the back and the flat folding seats are brilliant and I absolutely love the boot dividing system (means you can have your dog/dogs one side of the divider, and your shopping the other side so they don't poke their noses in it. Nor can they reach the back windscreen to decorate it with doggy art. I wish all cars would come with that dividing system.

  • Very interested in trading my my 2 (2014) model for this. Love their approach to getting the basic ergonomics right, being intuitive and not too hi tech, for the sake of it, but useful. The new design looks like it can compete visually with higher marque brands, but without the embarrassment of actually owning such ‘status’ brands. I mean, who’d actually want to say they have a Merc or a BMW? I’d rather say I’ve got a Nissan! What’s wrong with me?!
