  • I don't know the King, but I do know that any leader or man of a busy profession who would give all day to listening to returning soldiers without rushing out to a "very important appointment" is a good man at heart. That shows compassion. Arrogant man can't mimic compassion when it comes to being around vulnerable people who they treat as inferior.

Olav lost his wife Martha in 1954, but Olav was in his late fifties in the early sixties. I therefore assume that it was Harald who ended up marrying Sonja Haraldsen who is our current Queen. • @@lotus72e you're curious about my mother!?!?!? I've been curious about her my entire adult life! She has lead an incredible life. Dated numerous pops stars in the 60s. Both men & women found her alluring & I realise I'm biased but mum was truly beautiful & very petite. She can't remember who this Scandinavian royals name was but said he was very handsome though could barely speak a word of English & my mother had only just mastered Spanish so learning another language was not high on her agenda. I'm now my mother's full time carer after her battling four bouts of cancer & living with a brain tumour. She's bed bound but still a joy to be around. She turns 80 this year & is still beautiful to me. Sorry I can't give more clarification on this story.

People were so kind to older people. I felt cherished. When I came home I entered the shuttle bus to the long term parking and fell on the steps. The bus took off and I yelled that I needed help, Finally someone pick me put and put my bag on a stack. This would NEVER had happened in Europe. • In all fairness you cannot compare a unit like SO14 with the US secret service who primary mission is not protection, but financial crimes……counterfeiting actually the reason it was created. Protection came quite by chance after President Garfield ( I think ) was assassinated leading congress to charter Secret Service with the mission of protecting the president. FBI was created much later and after JFK an assassination and the “failure” of the secret service to protect him, it was discussed to hand over the president protection to the FBI. In the end, this never happened. Actually, a couple of secret service agent were transferred to the newly created FBI. Presidential Protection might be the most visible and glamorous mission, but financial crime is their main mission. FDR protection detail wrote a fascinating book describing the challenges of protecting him in war time. A logistical nightmare given the travels FDR undertook …..all the way to Africa and Yalta.

    • Charles is a liar and he loves to hold a grudge. The on-going kerfuffle with Harry' security (he has been forced to go to court over the security issue), proves that Charles denied Diana security, and then changed the narrative after she died. He denied her the HRH which is FREE, what makes anyone believe he offered her security, which costs almost £0.5 MILLION annually?
