It's being turned into a gravel circuit because it's less expensive to maintain and according to the owner Nobushige Kumakubo, most likely the only way to keep the circuit open at all.

Isle of Man TT has over 100years of racing history and is known for its persistence despite the consistent deaths annually, 267 racers, 5 officials and atleast 6 spectators have died The mindset of Isle of Man riders is truly something else. The perfect example of this holds the current lap record, Michael Dunlop. His brother, Father and Uncle literally all died competing in the sport (but not at Isle of Man TT) , Michael is still breaking records in 2023 and probably plans to until he dies doing it.
