To prove I'm right: I just saw a video from the channel "Carwow" where he drives the Hi Phi Z into an English village and he gets mobbed by people who love the car and want to take pictures of it! Video is called "This is the most attention-grabbing car I've ever driven!"
Impressive how far HiPhi/Human Horizon has come. I thought the X was a hoax, but it proved otherwise and had sold quite some cars; and with the Z being a genuinely good car, the Y may actually be a volume seller. Good luck to them.
My first impression of the X was similar. I figured it had way too many gimmicks to actually work in the real world, but then I drove it and it was genuinely impressive. The fact that it’s sold quite well for such an expensive car shows that others agree.

The hotel shuttle my company uses in Chengdu is a HiPhi model X. Those rear doors are super cool but also kinda temperamental. Many a times they refuse to open or detect some non-existent obstacle and stop halfway. Spoke to a few owners and some of those experienced the same. Hope they worked on that with this Y.
same, all door operators are pain. Including Industrial grade door operatior.
I’m not surprised to here you say that, as the same is true for every car with this type of automatic door that I’ve driven. The latest ones are better at detecting objects and not opening into them, but that often makes them too sensitive. There’s a specific area where you have to stand, otherwise the door will identify you as an obstacle and not open. As cool as they are, I sometimes miss the good old days of opening things with a handle!
Chengdu! Visited there, years ago.... I'm sure the roads are paved by now...

I would totally get one if it was available here in the u.s. The only thing I really dislike about ev are their bs ramge . Tesla stated the model y has 330 miles, but I personally can't even get it to run 260, and I don't even drive like a maniac

You get 260 because you drive mostly highway at 70 mph - 75 mph. You drive slower at 20 - 45 mph you'll get 330 miles range.

Those cushions are very popular here in China, so manufacturers have started including them as standard or selling them to consumers instead of letting the aftermarket make all the money. Personally, I don't find them that comfortable.

Nice car. I like the potential range. Dash is a little busy for my taste. And a bit to modern. The fridge is nice. And the space is a bonus. The doors are cool, but not my taste. This vehicle seems to be trying to appeal to the young tech crowd and the old fuddy duddy crowd. Might be better to be more focused. But nice car. Hello from Texas! Excuse my language. The Tesla Model X and Y are sold in China too, aren't they? I'd think so if the 3 and Y are made there too. So seems weird HiPhi would name their SUVs X and Y as well.
I admit HiPhi lack some creativity in their naming system, I also don't think Tesla hold the patent of the 26 letters, remember Ford made Model T that was made a century ago?
@@EeeLife Yeah and I believe due to Ford patenting Model E, Tesla had to go with 3 instead funnily enough. So of course the Z is whatever and I understand their first models are going for XYZ, it's just interesting that their large and small SUVs have the same names as Teslas.

Pure shameless copycat ripoffs all of em, from false claims about leading in structural pack's, energy density, perf, charging, safety, price point's etc. Which is why the true global ev sales leader with just 1 factory and 2 model's is nearly 10% of China's ev market alone=tesla! Imagine if the ccp hadn't held them back from expanding the gigahai plant twice now? Or if tesla had the compact car out already. 😀

Hollywood's Near-future Science fiction car finally comes into reality
I prefer the look of this Y over the Z, a car which looks like a Nissan GTR in a racing game. This Y looks like a relative of Lexus cars. I'm not so confident with so much features, more chance/risk for a problem that can be annoying or that needs a visit to the dealership.
if you want the features it is better that they are there. if not then don't use them or go for a different car altogether

The mic doesn’t pick up road noise, and we clean up the audio in post to make it a better experience for the viewer.
@@Wheelsboy your explanation made this look a bit misleading in that case. I understand its to improve viewer experience but personally, I'd prefer to get a "feel" for the car and its soundproofing.
It's pretty difficult to pick up subtle sounds like wind noise with a lav mic like we use, which is designed to exclude those sounds. To capture it, you'd need a specific type of mic, but then you'd end up with much worse audio overall and a poorer viewing experience.
You need to rerecord your wheels boy intro; you're very high energy and then it's like the power goes down while the intro says what you do..
Hahaha you're not wrong. I recorded that intro about two years ago, and I had a bad cold at the time. But good news, we're going to have a new intro soon!

Yes, can confirm that the HiPhi X did top the sales charts for EVs over 500,000 RMB here in China for a quite a while.

How do you review a beautiful car like this without close attention to how the rear doors opens? It’s one of its kind snd you didn’t show the quirks of the doors. You did not even show us the doors opening up, that’s the most interesting part of seeing this car and you skipped it. So annoying 🤦🏿♂️

I apologize for not being more clear with my wording. The upper part of the doors will not open in the rain, but the lower part will open as normal. Also, as I stated in the video, the phone was just for demonstration purposes, HiPhi doesn’t expect very many people to attach their phone to the magnetic surface. I think they see people attaching the same type of stuff they attach to their fridge, like photos or funny magnets. Is this useful? Nah, not really, but it’s an interesting detail that I wanted to share.
The rear looks like the Kia EV6, the side profile reminds me of the Citroën C5X and the front resembles the Toyota BZ4X or whatever that thing was called.
