What makes more sense business wise? Protecting Jon’s invulnerable facade and getting another 4/5 fights out of him, all guaranteed sell outs and huge PPV’s, and THEN letting him fight Tom, MAYBE, oh giving him what may be peak Aspinall and getting him KO’d and maybe one re-match, then it’s done? Dana is a business man above all things. And if Aspinall beats Jones it negatively impacts Jones/Stipe and a POSSIBLE Jones/Nganou fight.

Rn lb for lb maybe. But getting up to heavyweight and upping his total punch power is still a hard thing to do. At that point Pereira might be reaching outside his frame, I don’t think so but it’s still hard to do. Francis could never fight at the weight pereira has cuz of his frame. Some ppl are built for different weights. But Francis is an absolute unit at his weight power wise, while Pereira would still need to grow into that weight a little bit more to see for sure.

Pereira doesn't want to move up a division permanently, he doesn't speak English and his translator only sort of speaks English so it has been lost in translation. He wants to fight at heavy weight in Brazil because he cant do both a camp and then do a weight cut in three weeks, its the same when Chimaev called him out for the next PPV straight after Alex had just one the middle weight belt. He said he wouldn't make weight in time at middle weight so he would fight him at light heavy weight. Hes just going up in weight to get on to the Brazil card.Remember he weighs in at 205 but is probably 240 by the time of the fight.

@@chrisdinke271 because it was a cold ass moment that made history on the last fight of the card and is being played arguably more than the Max/Justin sequence. And I’m not arguing for FOTN, never said it, so that part is completely irrelevant. I get why people enjoyed the Max/Justin moment, but we need to be real and look at the difference. What Max/Justin did was awesome for fans, but really fucking stupid for both of them. Deserving of FOTN, FOTY, all the bonuses, but really fucking dumb in the end. The Alex sequence was a calculated killer knowing exactly what he saw in the moment that the groin shot almost ruined. The fact that 99% of fighters would have let Herb call that time out makes it even better. To me, that moment was much cooler than seeing Justin get slumped when he didn’t have to.

They are tied in MMA, but 3 to 1 in overall. Poatan is doing greater things, and he's a champion, whilst izzi's not.

Super weird responses from Dana. He’s said before that he doesn’t like when defending champions move weight classes. I don’t think he’s got anything against Alex like people are saying, probably the opposite. He would probably rather have Alex as a defending star champion at LHW. He’s probably traumatized by Jones moving to HW and all the headache that caused. Alex moving to HW is a lose lose for Dana because if he loses, he is diminished as the LHW champ and if he wins he diminishes the HW champ if he’s only there temporarily, he dimishes LHW if he vacates, and he potentially holds up both divisions if he tries to defend both. Him moving up from MW was good beause he had lost his belt anyway. I think Dana would not have a problem with Pereira going to HW if he loses his LHW belt. That being said, I would love to see it because it adds to his legend and at the end of the day it’s about the fans and the fans probably want to see what he can do at HW.

I think people are misunderstanding Dana's lack of excitement about Pereira. He's definitely not all up on his nuts like his other stars so let's not even have that debate, but the main reason is, if you have one guy who's the star of the MW LHW and HW divisions, you're missing out on two potential stars. The other part of it, of course, is that Alex isn't disrespectful enough to his opponents in the lead up to get Dana to like them. You've gotta insult their families, their religions, their wives, their dead fathers, you've gotta assault them outside of the ring, etc. - don't you dare be respectful while being one of the greatest martial artists the sport has ever seen, that shit'll get you traded for Ben Askren in a heartbeat.
