  • This match gives me goosebumps. So stressful. He was injured and had lost last year to Djokovic..best match of RG ..so much stress and such an adoring crowd..Look at how the Parisian crowd booed him when he was 17yrs and now he is their favourite son..We will never see anyone else like Nadal again in tennis..thankyou for the memories

I was so disappointed and honestly stunned he did not manage to take that set. Remember Nadals injury propaganda tho, every single time, in every interview or whenever he was to talk about the tournament, injury was always the main topic.

    • @@gautamkamat7114 Probably because he is. Beat Djoko in straight sets 7 months prior to the 2021 match on the same court. After the match in 2021, he took a break, missed a slam, and played 2 more matches, one of which he lost, and took the rest of the year out and ended up in crutches. Same in 2023, injured at AO, misses the entire season. Meanwhile, Djoko is "severely injured", wins AO, and comes back to the tour 2 weeks later in Dubai. Who sounds more injured to you?

Nadal has missed/pulled out of so many slams he could realistically have won 30 by now bar injuries. He is also unquestionably the most dominant player on a single surface that there has ever and likely will ever be 🐐

  • A confident and free flowing Nadal takes the ball more on the rise and changes direction more frequently even on fast and deep balls. And because he has the spin based game which is high percentage play, his shots will remain in play and end up being deep. As Koenig says, the down the line forehand is the barometer of Rafa's confidence. I could be wrong but many times I have felt that Rafa was nervous out of respect and fear for Novak which is rightly deserved but it ended up making him too conservative against Novak and he doesnt take the ball more on the rise on hard courts as he used to in 2013 which produced stellar results. Novak on the other hand is fantastic at taking the ball on the rise and especially against Rafa because already his balls have height and clearing the net on the rise is less risky compared to facing any other player and can give a flatter and deeper shot. I guess we cannot have everything in one player. Perhaps if Rafa had let himself be a lot more carefree and just go for it as Roger started in 2017, he could have had even better results on hard courts.

Everything was against Rafa and despite his statement the ball felt like a stone in the sinner match he didn't use topspin and hit flat and hard. yet even though the roof was closed in the final due to rain he blasted Djokovic off the court with pace and plenty of spin. I don't how he did it. It just showed he is the greatest at Roland garros but he wouldn't have been able to do this in 2012. His game was far more aggressive and attacking in 2020. 2022 was even more incredible. Yes it was warmer but still played at night for the 2nd time vs Djokovic and he played with one foot and pain killing injections and still won. Will remember both wins forever. If domination over roland garros is what discredits his achievement then straight goes to Federer and Novak. they've equally dominated AO and Wimbledon and won for 8-10 times each gs. ATP circuit is Hardcourt dominated with 70%+ tournaments overall in which 100+ weeks behind Federer, guess how many months a year he missed owing to injuries. Horrible results at Wimbledon 2012- 2017, the same goes to Novak pre-2013 and fed post-2016. every player has a rough performance period. - Winless against Djokovic and Federer off of clay since 2013 and 2014: How many times they faceoff and many GS he missed. Loses to mid tiers in slams such as Muller- it's not about newcomers. nadal struggles against most serve bots and fast hard court players as his defensive approach don't always suit the fast indoor games Primarily relied on athleticism, lightning-quick speed, infinite stamina, and muscles to dominate: such a chicken statement. he's the best volleyer and has an excellent game at the net than Fed. that's how beat him so many times.
