    • I only used the plasma cutter, contact beam and kinesis. I kept 2 other guns to sell all the ammo I got along with all other loot, I bought tons of nodes to fully upgrade my first few trees on my stasis and kinesis damage as well as my plasma cutter. I got it on my first try this way. It’s what I did on hardcore in dead space 2.

    • yep, as a DS veteran i thought it is a visual only, now i am kinda disappointed with the "peeling", i worked with enough powertools to say that skin&flesh are no factor when accidents occur, power tools (especially in dead space) are ment to cut rock, steel & wood, the only resistance in a human is the bone, everything else is just paper in comparison and wont stop anything.

  • Some impossible mode tips I found missing here: 1. Chapters 1-4 are the hardest parts of the run as you don't have the best weapons or good schematics, if you find yourself struggling early don't worry, this is intentional. IMO, once you get the medium med pack schematic (after decontamination room) the game gets significantly easier from there. 2. If you're in a room with a stasis refill station you should not spend a single round of ammunition. Stasis enemies and run up to them and stomp (yes even standing enemies) until they drop their loot signifying that they're completely dead. NOTE: do not do this with guardians (wall enemies) as if you get too close they WILL one hit KO. 3. Don't carry 4 weapons. Enemies will only drop ammo for the guns that are sitting in your inventory (regardless of what is equipped on your quick swap wheel). So if you carry 6 guns in your inventory, the game will spread out ammo for all of those guns. The less guns you carry, the more you funnel ammo for better, more ammo efficient guns. You also do not get enough nodes to properly upgrade more than the suit and maybe like 2 guns. I personally recommend only carrying 2 guns, no more than 3. My personal preferred loadout is Contact Beam (single highest DPS weapon) and Force Gun (crowd control + peeling). If I know a swarm is coming up then I'll pull out the flamethrower and put it back in storage when I'm done with it. If you use this method, I would personally not use either the plasma cutter or pulse rifle as they are two of the LEAST ammo efficient guns in the game. 4. White-tipped spikes aren't the only one hit kill TK weapon in the game. You can also use telekinesis on pipes with blue rims on the walls to pull them off, these will also 1 hit KO enemies. Also there are little small square storage shelves with 4 white corners, stomp at them and the shelving until will fall apart and each corner will make a spike giving you 4 spikes for free.

    • About 3. Plus less guns means less strategy and thinking. Makes you crystal clear about what you should do in varies situation. Force gun and contact beam combination creates only 3 stituations: 1. 1or2 Enemy long range: beam it. 2. Close range: force it and beam it. 3. Lots of enemy: gravity, force and beam them. You could always carry force gun as default weapon and watch the situation to swap to contact beam.

    • Early chapters are a breeze if you use Kinesis to its full capability. Honestly the first chapter is the one I find most tedious simply because there’s no Kinesis. It’s not that hard, but the spongy enemies with no upgrades just feels tedious. As soon as I have Kinesis, the game may as well be on story mode, they give you so many weapons to throw.

  • Might not be super necessary but a huge resource save is to upgrade at the right moment. Health and ammo capacity upgrades give you a full refill. So if you have zero ammo in a clip or red Health it's the optimal time to upgrade those. You can get more health than a large med pack by doing that, although it's a little risky to wait in red on impossible. Still it's worth not reloading if you know you can upgrade the capacity for a weapon.

  • If you are in an area where you're certain an infector will spawn later, (i.e. the room mentioned in the vid, or the Crew central hub in chapter 10), you can stomp all the dead human bodies first so the infector will have no bodies to infect. Saved me alot of ammo and trouble on my run.

  • A few things extra and addendums to note: For those unaware, there is an intensity director in the game that will make certain unscripted events occur from time to time and some can be BRUTAL, so if you do watch a playthough of someone else, keep in mind that you won't get their exact results, in fact depending on how much the AI hates you, you can get absolutely swarmed sometimes, it's all down to what it thinks and sends your way. Improvise and adapt to the situations using Smough's tips and you should still be alright. Firewall is one of the single best crowd controls in the game outside proto-stasis and needs to be stated more, it will stop everything that isn't a brute, hunter or armor'd necromorph dead in their tracks buying you a ton of space, along with the force gun's gravity well it makes for a devastating combo Flamethrower is actually one of the best tools for killing guardians, the firewall secondary will delete them in one shot if aimed well and you don't need to get near them. Also prototype stasis will one shot guardians, if you let it sit on them for about 3 seconds On the subject of prototype stasis, it will actually kill enemies on it's own (Killing a brute in about 11 to 12 shots) along with peeling them and can be used to detonate tendrils (Like in Chapter 10 and 12) through walls, this allows for skips to be done in those sections. Another random tidbit I didn't hear as well, Twitchers are all immune to the effects of stasis slowdown outside of their own pack detonations, however proto-stasis will still apply a short stun when used, but mainly recommend force gun or firewall to buy breathing room for them, if their packs had been detonated prior. For the danger sections: Centrifuge is spot on, just take your time and let it work for you, easy enough if you take a breather and wait for the opportunities. @33:25 run through the doorway to deck D slightly to trigger the infectors and stay in the elevator room, you will cover a body from it getting infected, no sticky floors and the infectors and slasher they make will funnel to you through a single doorway, plus the guardian won't have aggro on you to produce more pods, with a firewall in the doorway you can literally blend anything that thinks about coming your way and deal with the guardian alone after. @36:10 The gravity rings have 2 positions on them, look for their "open" position and stand by, when it is swapping positions from closed to open stasis the rings and fly through, also even when they are stopped after planting the beacon THEY CAN AND WILL KILL YOU IF YOU FLY INTO THEM EVEN WHEN STOPPED @37:18 You can prototype stasis kill an exploder without detonating it's sac, HOWEVER, it WILL detonate postmortem if hit with the stasis again, so still not really recommended, just do like Smough says and use the spikes. The generous center mass auto-aim makes it much easier. @37:30 with the door being stasis'd the twitchers had time to let stasis fade and follow you through, recommendation is hit them with a force gun and not a flamethrowers and the stasis'd knockdown buys much more time to open and close the door in this situation. Fun thing of note also is you are indeed vulnerable in cutscenes and can die and even be grabbed in them. @38:15 You can actually do this section without ever going through a moving fan. From where you enter the area at the bottom with the batteries just got to the fan immediately outside the elevator to the right (Back right from the center console), it will have a pustule but will have two covering it partially, destroy the first on on it and then fly through, from there you can find two more fans that you can just fly through without having to shoot anything and they will be stopped. You actually don't need to uncover all the fans anyway, once the batteries in place the objective in that room is finished. @39:12 Hivemind moves extremely erratically during the beginning of the grab, but at one point he gives you ample time to shoot him enough with most any upgraded weapon, set up and wait for that point and fire away. (Watch someone doing the part to get an idea, he basically "focuses" in on Issac, sitting still for about 3-4 seconds) But, besides my long ramblings, excellent tips and tricks, good foundations for anyone wanting to try Impossible and agree with most everything said!

  • I just conquered my impossible run but just because I haven't seen anyone mention this I want to say DO NOT underestimate chapter 9 .. there's a part in it where you have to avoid a spinning laser beam that insta kills you. You're supposed to stasis it and run through a safe gap but I've often found not even regular stasis will make it slow enough and it will spin and kill you.. -- The absolute best method is to hurl a stasis barrel at it which will give it enough juice to slow the laser down enough for safe passage (The stasis barrel is sitting in front of it, easy to see) That room was literally my only run killer.. there are some other insta death places but ch9 laser is the worst because You're basically on the home stretch. but I did eventually beat impossible mode:)

Also save your HP and CAP upgrades for when you are low to help save some ammo and health items. For the beginning I cut legs then used the stasis and stomp technique to save ammo. Stomping is super powerful. Use kenesis on the pipes with glowing rings on them they are a 1 hit ko. My load out was plasma cutter, ripper, line gun, and flamethrower. • A tip for D Deck of Mining, with special regard to the danger zone you mention. To foil the Infectors, I used telekinesis to move the two corpses into the room you exit from and stomp the daylights out of them. Once you cross the threshold of the door and trigger the Infectors' spawns, you'll be amused to see them frantically scurry around, all but useless without any slashers to make. This removes two enemies from the equation, and you don't even have to put yourself in harm's way to fight the wall Guardian yet. Cheers.

I’ve played the original Dead Space several times and I am so glad you explained the peeling system being more than a visual indicator. Im on Ch 4 of my first play through and I was starting to get a little frustrated with the what seemed like a nerfed plasma cutter and pulse rifle. But after seeing your video, I’m actually impressed that the remake has offered a clever way to make combat a bit more complex and rewarding for being strategic, accurate and quick!! It’s actually a super cool addition! Plus, I never really utilized the flamethrower and even the force gun in the original. Its smart that the developers are encouraging players to branch out more and discover what fun the other weapons can be. Admittedly, this applies to me, as I can get a little stuck in my ways on which load I think I should be using. The remake so far is great! I’m digging all the new additions, curveballs and approaches to certain levels. Thank you for the comprehensive guide! It’ll take me more playthroughs to get to impossible mode but at least I can try your tips now and have been pointed in the right direction. People in the comment section were also helpful.

  • Thanks for this, I'm getting ready for my Impossible run very soon, which should be the platinum trophy as well. One tip to add, even if it's kinda lame, is that many of the enemies you find around the ship are actually random spawns, specially in areas you've already cleared and don't need to revisit at the moment. You can usually just pause and load your game when ambushed by random enemies, and they won't be there when you come back. Lame, but effective! Edit: also, the Contact Beam is amazing against the Hive Mind. I didn't use it at all throughout the game, but for the last boss I removed the nodes from the Ripper (which is useless against it) and added them to the Contact Beam. The continuous beam makes it very easy to fire and adjust it to hit the Hive Mind's weak points, including the last one on the upside down section.

  • Great vid, broseph. I regularly play on Hard mode, so Impossible was more of a regular playthrough, just a lot more cautious. Things that worked really well for me was only carrying 3 weapons. You get a lot more ammo for the big hitters and save money for health packs. My favorite setup was Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, and Contact Beam. The Plasma Cutter is Ol' Reliable. It's accurate, powerful, and only gets stronger. Ammo is plentiful, and cheap if you need to buy them. The Weighted Blades upgrade is super useful for knocking pretty much anything on its ass in a pinch, even works on the Hunter. The Prototype Stasis Module deals damage, and will kill a whole batch of Swarmers with just one blast. The Flamethrower's alt fire is excellent at quickly killing Wall Guardians if ammo isn't a problem. The Contact Beam's alt fire makes Drag Tentacles the dangling part of the Hive Mind fight super easy. It also one-shots regular Slashers if you aim for the chest, and severely messes up everything else. Pretty much ignore its primary fire unless there are necromorphs that are all bunched together. The Line Gun quickly deals with Lurkers and Leapers. You can also abuse the laser trap by shooting it on a box and using Kinesis to mow down everything in front of you, but I didn't do this. When you futher upgrade its damage it will one-shot regular Slashers if you aim at both of their arms and their head. Two-shot for Enhanced Slashers. Doing all of these helped me beat Impossible on my first attempt with my lizard brain.

  • I really appreciate this guide, thanks a lot dude. The peeling and dismemberment section is extremely helpful, I'm doing impossible playthrough now and this strategy is a game changer but it's weird that the game didn't make this abundantly clear on how to use this system. I didn't even know the benefits of the prototype stasis module even though I did the side quest. I'm also relieved to see that I'm not the only one struggling with the final boss when you're hanging upside down, on PS5, it's crazy difficult to aim.

  • something that justified picking contact beam for me is how powerful it is even without upgrades. I only started putting nodes into it slightly before aegis vii and was constantly hovering 50-70 ammo for it due to using other weapons to save ammo (and even selling spare ones for inventory), and basically took turns between using it and the plasma cutter as the main decap weapons while being able to save all the nodes. It goes from one shotting with alt fire to two shotting, but its still great and having extra radius on the second fire is icing on the cake.

  • I liked everything shown here except for the weapons. There are upgrades for the plasma cutter that give it fire effect which allows it to either one-shot or two-shot a limb on just about anything not to mention it's damage as well. Doing combo's is just a waste of time and changes the users focus to making sure that he properly executes the combo. You can check Impossible Playthroughs a guy named Pro Solo Gaming played the entire game just using the Plasma Cutter as his main weapon and he did it very easily.

  • I went for a Plasma Cutter only run for my Impossible playthrough and while I definitely recommend the Flamethrower for one-shotting Guardians and Swarmers it actually was quite easy for the most part. The biggest advantage overall was ammo was never an issue which I found quite valuable. I never picked up the other weapons so the only time I ever got ammo for those was when it was a set drop like when there is ammo next to the gun its for. I was also using more nodes on the RIG which made me harder to kill and less at risk of suffocating in a vaccume and had a fully upgraded weapon as soon as it was available.

  • I used the ripper in my impossible mode playthrough and i feel like its very underrated. Most necromorphs have multiple stun durations with the Ripper and the game loves to flank you with necromorphs in front and behind you. Thx to the stun, you can bypass the necromorph behind or in front you so you can avoid taking unnecessary damage from a enemy that came from nowhere and easily group them together to use the flamethrower,force gun,or contact beam. Its also very ammo efficient to where if you increase the duration of the ripper you can kill at least 2 necromorphs with 1 blade while also saving/gaining ammo for different weapons which you can just unload for difficult parts of the game (ex:cargo bay segment). I wouldnt use the ripper against the swarmers,guardians, hunter, and the pregnants but by that time i use a different weapon paired with stasis. Awesome guide man keep it up

  • the peeling system in Dead Space 2023 really makes all the weapons more important. In the original two games, you could just go through just using the plasma cutter and pulse rifle and then just call it a day. Now all the guns need to be combined to really kill necromorphs.

  • I completed Dead Space 1 on the hardest difficulty on my PS3 back in the day, and it was quite a challenge. But when I switched to playing it on PC, it was surprisingly easy. The level of precision you can achieve on a PC as opposed to a console is astounding, I found myself rarely missing any shots on the PC. Still, respect to you for tackling it on the Xbox.

    @Mikkel_ka@Mikkel_ka5 ай бұрын
  • Ok so I had completely misunderstood what the peeling system was. I thought it was strictly a visual thing, not an actual gameplay indicator of a limb coming off easier. Maybe another issue of why they didn't teach players this mechanic is having the 30 kill achievements with each weapon. Like getting kills with a forcegun isn't what that weapon is meant for. Totally makes sense now.

  • Only two weapon's needed for this and to be fair it possible with only the plasma cutter but it's really hard. I did this with the plasma cutter and flame thrower. the flame wall makes it so you can cut off ways for the Necros to get behind you. It's real useful when you run into a lot of them and need a way to keep them away while you focus on some.

  • One thing I just thought of which is kinda a cheese is running two games at once. One regular hard mode you can run each chapter then switch to your impossible run. So it should be more or less the same. Only thing I think would be different are the drops, and the spawn times for when enemies spawn. The best way to deal with infectors is before you go into rooms pull all the corpses to you and stomp them clean.

    @bombomos@bombomos Жыл бұрын
  • Definitely agree on most things here but I would argue the line gun traps are too good to pass up. Even without using their exploit they can destroy hordes on their own. I have never been a fan of the force gun but I could see it having some utility. Personally I prefer the contact beam for those situations where everything must die asap.

  • I HIGHLY recommend using the Contact Beam, it shreds enemies by itself and barely uses any ammo. It is also extremely good in the sections with the tentacles and for the final stand with the Hive Mind. Swinging the beam around is much easier on a controller than using any of the other weapons, not to mention it's doing massive damage more than any other weapon. For me I'd 100% swap out the Pulse Rifle for it, i've already done Impossible and i just wanted to see how others did it since i kind of just jumped into it. I used every single weapon you use except the PR and you mad very good points on everything else. The flamethrower is very important I'm glad you've taken the time to say that, i also recommend using it's alternate fire mode that brings up a wall of fire. This is very useful in the encounters where you have Necro's coming at you from more than one angle. Shoot it at the floor then turn around and deal with the ones behind you, this saved me quite a few times especially near the end of the game. Edit: 35:48 You can stasis this and while it's stasised it can't kill you even if you touch it.

    @CovenantArmada@CovenantArmada5 ай бұрын
  • Flamethrower alternate fire "oneshots" the guards like the reinforced stasis shot. Used it to barbecue the guardians until i got the proto stasis. And you dont have to use any nodes on this thing at all.

I didn’t do that for my first impossible run because I like having 2 weapons in the first half of the game and then I added the Contact Beam later because I’m in love with it. PC, Force Gun, and C Beam is an OP load out, not really necessary but so damn fun.

  • I loved the original dead space, so I had to play impossible as my first run through this game. I did Hardcore in DS2 back in the day, and wanted my foam finger back😂 I loved how tense it made every encounter. In chapter five I got into a pretty tight spot where I only had three health bars, 8 rounds of plasma cutter ammo, and I had to go into the room with 3 morphs, 1 baby, and the hunter. I thought for sure my run was over. I managed to kite them, place the circuit breaker and proceed to just sprint past everything to Mercer's office. It was quite the thrill. Enjoying my NG+ playthrough with the foam finger trivializing the phantom necromorphs now😂 I did die once too. In chapter two on the way to medical I went into a bathroom and got boxed in by two necromorphs. Only had to restart once. Once you get the prototype stasis module and the force fun, it's over gg

  • some tips - especially for plasma cutter only impossible run (it's very easy). You dont need a flamethrower at all tho i do like that weapon: 1. On the leviathan outside battle, shoot only 13 or 14 times on each weak spot first, This wont trigger the next phase but essentially make it so each node is only 1 or 2 shots from exploding. Instead of finishing off with cannons, use your plasma cutter but angle yourself so you have view to shoot both soon as one explodes. Going to the 3rd one should be simple enough before anything crazy happens. 2. Stomp is your friend. Use after you've taken out a leg. stasis + stomp...do nottt use ammo from jump. The tram replacement area, you should end up w/70 plasma ammo if you do it right. I know there's been confusion about if stomp stunlocks. It does if it's not an elite leaper or regenerator tmk. There's been maybe 1 or 2 times a leaper's gotten an attack in through some weird glitch but you need to smash the spacebar or whatever you're using. there's a decent number of frames where in recovery if you press it again it will not register. idk wtf they did that, but essentially just keep tapping until they're done. try to stomp their limbs or center of back since i think it registers as a small explosion. Do nottt do this with multiple enemies around. Only finishing off or very very small encounters with maybe 2 and the other you dont have to worry about 3. Depending on the space you're in, take out the weapon that best deals with it. Storage rooms for example occasionally have surprises or an enemy waiting outside the door (like barely a handful of times, but enough to surprise you) so dont get caught off guard there. 4. Dont be afraid to take supplies to other areas. Can be a bit grueling but it's very worth it sometimes. Leave them somewhere very easily grabbable and do nottt put items on top of each other as theyll randomly fling somewhere if you grab the item underneath and the game is bugged sometimes where itll literally disappear even in a narrow corridor. Will thank yourself for backtracking moments. 5. kinesis kinesis kinesis. You should NOT be using ammo at all unless it's to 1) dismember the first limb to shoot or 2) panic situation where there's no kinesis items available or too many enemies (and even then after first dismember you should start throwing spikes you rip off them. 6. stasis brutes & shoot their weak spots w/plasma cutter...it's so easy. 7. Upgrade plasma cutter: when you get upwards of 30/40k, you should then be spending on 1 or 2 nodes unless you know there's a new powersuit or you dont have enough yet to save for one. Go and get your upgrades from the security rooms too because they have free nodes in them even if you dont use the upgrade. The fire DoT upgrade is very important.

  • I love the ripper and I think you might’ve failed to mention or realize that it pairs very well with the flame thrower when it comes to ammo efficiency. It’s extremely rare where I find myself running it down to 0 and have to reload. Also despite being weak early in the game, you need to use the flame thrower to peel the skin off so it only takes a few seconds to dismember a necromorph. It also has a bit of knockback so as long as you don’t get too too close to slashers it deals with them nicely. Fully upgraded though it’s a monster and almost never runs out of ammo. Alt mode does kinda suck but if you never want to find yourself with no options because of no ammo then this is the perfect combo. Edit: other than this, great video.

  • Really can't overstate how powerful yhe upgrade stasis module is. A single blast with strip the flesh off of most enemies in the game. The only exceptions are the enhanced enemies and the brutes. This extra damage for free is very valuable and basically means you are fighting 2 enemies at the same time. You can stasis one while you kill another while the 1st enemy takes constant chip damage and can usually be finished in 2 shots to take out its legs or arms. Very very powerful tool.
