I wasn't expecting much when they announced the remake, but man, did they deliver what a masterpiece of a game.
Might not be for you, then. However, the Remake is basically Dead Space, but polished. And the original Dead Space was massively popular. Basically, think of a total Halo remake that pretty much knocks everything out of the park while staying true to its roots, and you've got a good idea as to why people like the Dead Space remake.
@@robertutley7767 I get it man. Enjoy!
Not sure why you did expect much. Did Callisto ruin your thoughts?
@@ssteg1 it’s not for everybody but it grabbed my attention when I played the original the remake lives up to it
@@ssteg1So you played for an hour and a half, and you only saw one or two enemy types… LMFAO, dude there are multiple enemy types introduced throughout the game. Why would they throw every enemy type at you in the first hour of the game? 😂 If you played maybe 30 mins or an hour longer you would’ve seen 2-3 more enemy types than you’ve already seen, like most games with different enemy types and more challenging enemies. There’s definitely more than 10+ enemy types, which is actually quite a lot for a horror game.
Imagine how terrifying it'd be to be one of the few living Ishimura crew huddling in a filing cabinet and you see a steely man holding his gun straight out in front of him as he effortlessly sprints between necromorphs, only being momentarily stopped by the time it takes the doors to slide open. You couldn't be sure if you'd actually seen what you'd seen or if it was just another hallucination.
That’s true
Oh, you'd definitely sh*t your pants... ...and then use it to write "make us whole" all over the inside of the cabinet as your mind finally breaks to the will of the marker.
There was a fan theory (or it was a draft in a script) that Isaac hallucinate the Negros and murder people the entire time.
@@isaacnickel unfortunate typo
"I thought I'd seen everything, that nothing could scare me anymore. After those... *_things..._*_ what else possibly _*_could?"_* "That was until I saw... _whatever the fuck it was._ It definitely wasn't one of those monsters, but it was so fast, I couldn't get more than a glimpse of it from the safety of my hideaway." "It moved like a blur, with lights emanating from it, & some kind of flashlight- no, searchlight feels more appropriate. For how fast it was, I could tell it moved with *purpose.* It flew past those freaks like they weren't even there, & I could *_swear_* I saw two of them stare at each other in some kind of confusion."
Man, this remake really is the gift that keeps on giving
No it isn't. The original Dead Space still beats remake.
@@Holy_Wraith old mate could not be more blinded by nostalgia
This is how a remake should be done. It feels like this is the original vision for the game. Especially Gunner Wrights performance as Isaac, he is amazing, really drives the connection and immersion. EA truly outdid themselves.
Pretty weird stuff at EA, they see the success for dead space remake but go and cancel the Apex Legends single player game. It’s all a big mess
@@ImSoConfucius people have been jumping on the APEX thing and the cancelled Titanfall 3 and while I’d love Titanfall 3, maybe it was just cancelled for good reason. Maybe the pitches weren’t up to snuff. The Dead Space remake got the green light and is being showered with praise because it’s a great game through and through. I’m not one to say EA is amazing, after all they’ve done I’d be an idiot to say that in the slightest. But just some food for thought, sometimes a thing getting cancelled just means it wasn’t good from the get go.
Motive*
EA didn't do sh!t. Talk to Motive.
@@adambomb138 EA Owns Motive. They wouldn't have redone the game if EA proper didn't green light. They are a studio under EA. If you wanna argue semantics fine.
Games either get broke instantly or take years like the original Dead Space
I knew this remake was gonna be good, especially with all the dev vlog updates…. I wasn’t expecting it to be THIS good.
I’m not a speed runner, I know pretty much nothing about the culture of speed runs, but I like your voice and the way you talk and the information you give, so I put you on my phone in the background while I work. Affection from me, my dog, and my cats
It makes me happy seeing how much this channel's grown over the last couple years, waifu making killer content and more people flocking to like it, keep killing it my guy, the remake is a veritable gold mine
What a great start to 2023. We get a remake that turns out to be one of the greatest of all time AND it ends up being a viable & fun speedrun game. That's fantastic. No doubt people will find ways to get it sub 2hrs on any%, I think more and more sequence breaks will be found. Me personally, I sort of prefer watching glitchless speedruns, but not everyone has the attention span to watch a 4-5hr long speedrun.
Yh time cause we got jobs n life priorities lol
When I've started the game I sweared to myself I would play this game as long as I find everything in the game on my own! And I can only play 1-2 hours a day. Now I'm almost at the end and I don't want to play through already! It shouldn't end that quickly. This title is already one of the best this year!
Well you have the new game+ to look forward to! It has new more powerful necromorphs mixed in with the regulars and has new collectibles that unlock a new alternative ending!
@@Sparkle648 yes I will do this after the first run. 👍
Same i finished this game in a week on and off, its one of the more fun experiences ive played in a video game, dead space is a great franchise
How I felt after I beat it. I wanted to play it again after
I think it would’ve been really funny if the new Game Director would notice that you skipped a few chapters and then just lock all the save stations and throw a huge swarm of different necromorphs at you, so much so that it would be impossible to survive and thus send you back to your most recent save.
I was amazed at how much more you can explore the Ishimura as well as how much less the tram serves as a guide point on certain levels. Worth it🔥
sharkhat87 is still new to the speedrunning community since corona but is already at top level. Also he's doing much for the community, i love this dude!
its always a surprise to hear sewerslvt in a video, a good one at that
I love watching the evolution of speedruning techniques when a brand new game comes out
always blows me away what you guys are able to come up with!
It is much easier to come up with these ideas if you have ever worked on a similar game engine.
I was a little bummed that they changed Issac’s look, until I learned it was to make him look more like Gunner Wright. I was so happy to hear him reprise his role as the most badass engineer in the galaxy.
I think when they remake the second they’re probably gonna give him his more gritty grey hair look he had in dead space 2 with all the testing earth gov put him through
I don't get why a character should look like the voice actor? He doesn't look like Isaac anymore. That's really the only problem I have with the remake, it's stellar besides that one small thing, but I just don't get it.
@@rodimusmaximus3912using the VA's face makes it easier for rigging/mocap. Less time animating things to resemble a flat drawing from concept art. Having the real life, reference of the person performing the character is easier to work with
I’m loving these DS speedrun videos!!
insane music choice for this video
Respect the bgm by including a sewerslvt song ❤
man dude you guys are nuts at games keep it up
I would love to see you and Dante speed run race the new RE4 remake on release blind. You both have tons of experience with original, and the previous races are great. New race with unknown wild card elements from remake would be awesome to see.
I don't really watch much speed running but I love your videos and learning about speed running. I might have to go check and see what time the remake is at now cus I finally get to playing it and I adore dead space 😍
Not sure if this’ll end up being useful but whilst mashing x/a to get the little nibbling things off Isaac, I managed to clip through a door. Seems quite situational though
This is known about but we haven’t found a use for it yet
@@WaifuRuns Thanks for letting me know! Would’ve hated to think I was sitting on something useful haha. Here’s hoping for some more wild discoveries
I think i love the development of the speedruns more than the finished runs. There is a ton of possibilities.
The one thing I love about good remakes. Is that it makes it more accessible for the newer generation. There are many gen z kids who won't play a game because of it's old graphics/ gameplay/ or worse, accessibility. I couldn't get my 2 nephews to play old Mario games , old Metroid games and even Goldeneye! But my nephew bought and played this game. And now he wants to get the 2008 Ds and DS 2 and 3.
I love samus returns on the 3ds. Got me to try out metroid 1 to 5. Dread was awesome.
@@smolboi9659 oh yes.. dread is amazing. It captures the old Metroid feel, and has a really cool updated story.
Kudos for using Sewerslvt’s music. This person is legendary.
Thought I was the only one who noticed
ew.
sad boy sheldon was honestly a way better artist, especially at coming up with good album titles. his track "rules nature" is easily both my favorite & objectively the best from a pure music theory standpoint. he was greatest of all time.
Can't wait for you to cover the insane skips found in Resident Evil 4 remake
Sewerslxt ,good taste in background music
The nice thing about this is that it shows that Motive accomplished somethint that the devs of the original took great pride in: dropping a really clean game. Still super cool to see this develop!
Yet another amazing video.
Great start to 2023 with this beautiful remake 🔥 I just platinum the game
Nice music choice, sewerslvt rocks
Man you won me over in the first second with the music choice, slvt fan
love the music u use in ur vids
I remember one of the last chapters has an elevator in a cafeteria like area, maybe prop flying down to the bottom floor would be faster than elevator
And I like that sprint while aiming glitch it reminds me of the ditman glitch from re4
First time I played dead space remake I managed to load out of bounds onto a white square, thought it was like a dream sequence at first. Lost a good amount of my impossible run
I found a soft lock during my play thru when going to medical before the regen fight if you keep the main door open you can run to one of the side doors before the Dr can lock you in if you hear part of the Dr link lines your soft locked and you have to reload the game but as long as it doesn’t play you can set up the er room and set up the batteries where they need to be then go back and the normal dr locked room scene will play
Good music choice man I love this song
been waiting for this
I accidentally discovered the kinesis glitches just looking around for hidden loot in my first playthrough. Particularly, you can softlock yourself by clipping Isaac on top of a bed with invisible barriers and not enough space from the wall to clip Isaac back off the bed. I accidentally clipped myself out of bounds before I got onto walkable floors. Kinda funny that this is being used so reliably in the speedrunning community.
Dead space remake reminds me of re4 in terms of replay factor. I love how everything circles and amazing pace of upgrades. Survival horror has been going great so far. I'm looking forward to resident evil 4. I'm hoping it has that replay factor I love about the orginal 4
Could you do a "history of" of resident evil 1 speed running history eventually please?
If i remember correctly, I managed to get out of bounds during the Leviathan Remnant boss fight. I just started New game plus so once I get to that part, i can record it.
Is nobody gonna talk about the Sewerslvt song at the beginning? This is a man of culture right here
Woah is that Lexapro Delirium? Sweet
Since you can't do objectives out of order, I assume that it's a counter that counts up every time you complete an objective, therefore breaking it if you complete an objective ahead of time the counter won't go up since the trigger was already done. Alternatively every objective checks if the previous was done before activating. One reason I could think for this, based on enemies not spawning, is that since the entire ship exists at once, they used it to prevent stuff from generating outside the current mission. Side missions still working would make sense with the first theory since they would have their own counter.
I actually really loved Dead Space 3 for the way you can craft your own tailor made weapon and even send the schematic of it to a friend. I made some crazy weapons.
After learning of the sea shanty secret. I look forward to the, Deadspace Remake, Shanty% category.
The era of faithful remakes Is here and it feels like the world is healing in that regard
Sewerslvt in the background as always 👌
cant wait to start running it
I'm a long time dead space fan and I went on a marathon with all of my freinds to 100% ds1 ds2 and ds3 before the remake and when the remake came out I 100% it to, so much fun and such a great story
Only thing I hated was one Hammonds death my man was supposed to go out fighting a brute not one slasher and that they completely destroyed the ads portion
Hey at least he took out the morphed Chen, instead of being squashed to pup by a brute morph.
Man we have this and RE4 remake next month it’s gonna be great😁
1:07 - Yes, agreed. And I don't like dead space. It's just that as a remake it remade the game very well, it's a next iteration fixing the bad parts and maintaining what's there. I've seen mostly through gameplay but parts before considered boring or annoying are now cinematic and fun. This is super nice, I've been playing a remake series and then a remake gets new mechanics but the level design can't change too much and you're left with something that wishes for more :c
I can't hear SewerSlvt without feeling sad :c
I beated 3 times already plus impossible. It's so addicting 😩 like old times. Dead Space 2 remake?!
Hmm. When skipping to later areas of the game and completing objectives, does it also soft lock side mission objectives? I ask because I am curious if you could skip to a late game mission, complete it's objectives, dart back to an early area and complete a side mission objective to see if it updates your overall objective state.
Because some side missions can be completed in various chapters they most likely wouldn't cause a state update to main objectives or it would cause issues in the actual game but it's worth a look
@@RagnellAvalon If it ends up working, I'd love to know. I'm not a speedrunner myself but I do love the whole theory crafting and breaking of the games. Lol
How long do you prefer speedruns to be, i.e. too short and it is over in a flash, too long and it drags on or gets too much with all the pressure of not making any mistakes, etc.? About 1 hour like the original Deadspace? or more like the remake of 2 hours / a bit more than that?
Damn he got the sewerslvt in the background
Funny enough I just got a dead space ad on this video 😂 I’ve been saying this since I beat the game on new game plus, this game is genuinely brilliant and absolutely should be the golden standard for what a remake should be!
15:30 oh my god I figured that out myself! Totally on accident tho and was like THANK GOD hahah by my 5th playthrough I’ve seen them enough
a sewerslvt song???omgggg legendary
I love speed runners, “Oh no, I actually have to play the game”
Now, speaking from just a playing experience, would you recommend going back and playing the original? I played 3, then 2 originally just by chance but never got to DS1, but I have the remake. Hope you're doing well!
With the existence of remake, unless you want to see the original, you are better off playing the remake. It adds more and subtracts nothing.
@TheAgore47 I had a feeling, but wanted to be sure. Thank you!
@@russdellapenna I would still highly recomend the original. Seeing how a fifteen year old game looks compared to nowadays will blow your mind. The game aged like fine wine. The remake is still the better experience, but the original is worth the time.
Play the original if you can, it feels really different gameplay wise (mostly the speed and attack mechanics, plus no 0g flying) and i have to admit i like it better than the remake in a few aspects. I played them back to back and even if i liked the remake a lot (specially the faster gameplay), i feel like it drags too much in some areas were the original doesn't, so i prefer to see them as separate.
Having just beat the remake, I can agree that this is probably the single best video game remake ever. It’s fucking awesome. It’s everything DS was and more
This is insane ngl
I absolutely agree with you 👍
Still trying to get over the idea of games getting "remade" which I originally played on release as an adult
If i know other games the rig videos are in the files, they might be hidden files, or they might have a different extension over mp4 or wav files
I figured they changed the Pulse alr fire to stop the brokenness from the original, which opened up so many speedruns
This remake was really enjoyable to get all achievements in, my only complaint was that the impossible difficulty seemed a bit watered down compared to the older trilogy in terms of difficulty, but other than that, no complaints, great game
this is one of the best remakes we've seen since re1 and re2 remakes. this one id argue is the best, it is literally perfect in every way you can come at it.
Poor performance on PC. Regular frame drops and stuttering. Otherwise it's great. Played the whole thing, just started NG+.
@@SneakyLittleHobbiti just played through all of the game on PC and had no issues with frames or stuttering.
2weeks ago waifu thought sub 2 hours was impossible and now sharkhat is almost to 1:45 time its nuts how much the run is evolved already
So for people who softlocked by grabbing the crew deck key in Ch.10, could we potentially skip that using these methods?
I've never spent $80 so fast in my life. As I opened my news feed and saw that pre-orders were open on Steam for Dead Space, I just immediately bought the Deluxe.
how would i install the cutscene skip on DS3?
Subbed for music
I mean, don't forget that the studio that brought us the Dead Space games was forcibly shut down by EA after they were made to take 3 in the direction it went. Man, that aside, these developments are always so fascinating to me. It's incredibly interesting here, especially, considering how the community gets to compare the various glitches across two different versions of the same game.
I enjoyed Sewerslvt as the background theme
Even though the objectives don’t update, if you know what you have to do, could you just do it anyways or would that not work?
It glitches out the scripting and breaks the sequence so you cant progress
With the new trial version that only has 1:30 hour limit. I wonder if it can be a new challenge to finish the game before the trial expires.
I'm on my 2nd new game plus, and the only two things that should be addressed are the lack of ability to skip those quest related video logs, and the constant character stuck when loading the game for the first time. on PS5
I’m pretty sure there was the Original RE remake before 2 on the Gamecube.

@WaifuRuns bro how did you get a scam bot
Hope you se this, but I’m playing right now on chapter 10 (the very beginning) and accidentally found a way to de-load the area around the 0 G-basket ball court. Been trying to reach the executive shuttle and so far I’ve been able to get to the room where we se the cutscene of Mercer and Jacob Temple, but the thing is that the spot where I found this area, is consistent I’m gonna record the clip and uploaded, it may be of use (or not).
the only way to progress is to trigger the objectives complete sequence so you won't be locked out for the rest of the game
Lexapro Delirium 🙏🏼🙏🏼
DS3 is not a bad game in particular. It is a action survival and with the right weapons it makes a lot of fun (when the limbs are flying all over the place). Sadly, you have to grind materials until then...
2:55 ive never noticed but Kendras walk cylcle is janky as hell. her arm swing is out of sync with her legs so sometimes she ends up walking like Scarlet Johansen in Ghost in the shell where her arms go forward when her legs do instead f back. its looks weird, why is like that?
All the walk cycles look bad in this game
"Well. you could if you could Fucking see." cracked me up
You actually keep your master override clearance in ng+ you don't keep your security clearance its like the one key item you keep aside from like nodes and actual weapon upgrades
This makes me so happy. Dead space has been one of my favorite series for 12 years. Seeing people enjoy it over 10 years after the last installment is awesome. Fantastic games, but I think the remake outdid them all.
Prop flying is shockingly widespread, I know especially in Zelda BotW and Subnautica prop flying can be done extensively
take a shot every time this guy says "completely different'
