I love leopard seals. I'm always eager to see them if they feature in a documentary. Many seals look so passive and docile (even if they're not), but leopard seals look like the predators they are, intelligent and formidable with almost "knowing" faces ...those teeth are always impressive too. What an experience for the film crew - not sure I'd be getting in the water!

I just realized that leopard seal is hunting those penguins the same way Orcas hunt sea lions on the Patagonian coast.
Except seals can indeed move on land very well, at least just as well as the penguins
In the full episode 4 of Frozen Planet II, they show a leopard seal actually running a good distance up the dry land to catch a penguin. Very awesome and terrifying!
The most flexible of seals and a lot going on in that head of his/hers. A fascinating animal.....it was probably thinking the same about the diver !

I've seen a small one near my hometown. Here in New Zealand they are usually outcompeted by the tougher New Zealand sea lion

That would be my worst job ever. Any time it gets below 28c it's too cold for me! Thanks to the cameramen who film all these shows. I'm all nice and cosy with some roast veggies cooking and the heater on! :-)

Polar diving seems like the most uncomfortable and challenging sport out there. I was freezing already on the Baltic during night. Outside of water. During summer. Also, I'm fully team-penguin but those seals acted cute!
I in my life time will not cost any one physically or mentally..to the extent possible I remove the pain of other....

Oy. Diver dude, do you think they just eat stuff whole? Nope, they chomp it. What they did to your boat was just a mouthy feel. Your boat is just rubberized fabric and air. It doesn't take a whole lot to compromise it's integrity and sink it.

I did an Earth Day cleanup yesterday, and my semi-dry wetsuit zipper wouldn't close before entry... The water was 48F... (8.8C) ... ... Anything for the Earth 🥶😭 I feel your pain, your cold cold pain!
