I'm clearing the last bits of the road that I wasn't able to reach last time because of the snow. The weather is warming and the snow is clearing fast. I'm getting on with plumbing and sealing the floor.

I sat down 30 minutes ago to enjoy this. Just stood up for a coffee refill and saw that 10,000 people have joined me in the brief span. Hello everyone. It’s so nice to share something in common. To each of you I send a warm smile and wishes of happiness.
😊
Warm smile to you. And all of you. 😊
warm smile to everyone; light and peace🙌🏼✌🏼
Good morning my friends !
Hello from the United States.
Besides the great photography, and the awesome skills and peacefulness that Martijin brings to us, another thing I love about this channel is the comments. So respectful and thoughtful and caring. You viewers also lift my spirits. I am thankful for such a gracious group of people.
yes the comments are part of it and add to the vibe
Du hast recht, ich lese mir die Kommentare und alle gehen respektvoll um miteinander….ein gutes Gefühl, weiter viel Freude mit seinen Videos 😊
My husband and I never missed a Sunday evening watching this. He was undergoing chemo and this always lifted his spirits and helped him keep the dream alive of doing something similar in the Scottish highlands. He passed away ten months ago but I know he is still with me, watching and loving this beautiful, and amazing journey in the stunning, Italian mountains. It is comforting, thank you Martijn. 🙏
I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope you have tons of lovely memories that you've made together.🤗
God bless you
Thank you❤ I'm lucky and have wonderful memories, he really was the best. @pegsbarton6353
My sincere condolences ❤️🇨🇦
I wonder if bathroom exhaust fans are a thing in Europe? They are very effective at removing excess moisture, here in rainy Vancouver.
Hi Martijn, I saw you working on the bigger fallen trees and I just can highly recommend you wear safety pants (like the ones Johannes wears) and a helmet and so on. Be careful around bigger trees, they still could have tension etc. I work in the emergency room and the most gruesome accidents are unfortunately forest workers. Love your videos and stay safe.
My husband was a builder who had to fell trees quite often and told me about "the widow maker."
I was nervous about him stepping through ice and snow with a spinning power saw in operation. I heard of a farmer out trimming a hedge to put up a fence and he lost a leg.
A stone building from scratch with your level of dedication and detailing... Here's to another 100 episodes! Hurray!!
Not quite from scratch, but...yeah - its an amazing retro fit. The entire compund became "art" for Martijn.
That would truly be a work of love and very time consuming. I wonder, when does hard work become unenjoyable?
@@TheRasianii think he is talking about the workshop cabin ;)
I would think they would be excited about someone just living there and the property not falling into disrepair like so many other buildings there.
yeah for us its bliss ))))) and of course beautiful .. I wish our love and energy would help you to build the cabin...hopefully this year my wish come true and be able to come and help...bravo and bless you Martijn
the birds singing is beautiful
I still miss black chicken sometimes 😢 so glad to see white recovered though 😊
Viewing these empty houses and stables, I can only imagine what it must have been like for the many souls who lived in these hills years ago.
I was traveling for a few weeks, without access to KZhead. Yesterday I finally returned from my trip and last night I caught this episode. I know it sounds goofy, but it seemed like I was checking in with an old friend. The comfort of seeing Martijn in the mountain cabin is just so relaxing, even when everything doesn't go as well as it might. Thanks again for putting together this wonderful story, Martijn.
Thanks for including my song Candlelight in this video!
@@Margherite2 Thank you!
Beautiful tune.
My wife was always wondering why I watch you every Sunday morning. So I had her watch your last video of the fire place build. Next she watched the finishing of the stone floor. She has now gone back to the beginning and plans to watch all your videos. Already waiting for the next one.
..now she will have a lot of ideas how you can improve your home. ;-)
Still trying to convince my husband. Sometimes he watches over my shoulder, but i believe he thinks it is giving me ideas!
She’ll like the one about fleas coming out of the walls 😱😱
Is that true?@@rachelmessham2450

My husband is bedridden and I introduced him to Martijn and he can’t wait for Sunday mornings! He loves the chickens and is always happy to get a glimpse of them following Martijn around the property. We joke about what Martijn is cooking, always something elaborate vs what is actually in the pan. He remembers all the things that he had made/built in his past and cheers Martijn on during every project. Martijn is truly a renaissance man. Art, design, the art of stone masonry, photography, cooking, sewing…this list goes on. What he doesn’t know, he finds out how to make it happen. God bless you, Martijn, and I can’t wait for your parents next visit and their reaction to all your hard work!
Introduce your hubby to 'Itchy Boots'. He might like that too.
Надо добавить + 5 кур(poules!)❤.
May your husband return to a functioning life I pray.
you a scammer @OfficialMartijnDoolaardh
And he introduces music like maestro.
For me this is my weekly 'church' - the gentle rhythm of the editing, the achievements, the frustration, the small beautiful mkemnts, the big disappointments (your log cabin design was BEAUTIFUL). The lack of hype and unforced humanity of your channel is a pure delight.
It does bring peace to the soul. It is a unique experience of nature and the power of God in his glory. The wonderful voice , so soothing helps when he seldom narrates.
Yes, a Log Cabin with stone "Woodshop" would seem to be in order, like Geppetos Toy shop!?

There's something cathartic about the sound of chickens clucking.

My favorite part of Sunday morning. The coffee is hot and I’m in a very happy place. Thanks Martijn.
We always leave it for the night 😊 ca 19:30-20:30 on Sundays.

A pure delight as always, Martijn. Your channel is the best and the one I most look forward to watching every week. It's unhurried, uncluttered, peaceful and no hype. Your log cabin design is very beautiful. Jouw kippetjes zijn zo schattig en zo lief hoe ze jou overall volgen. Ontzettend leuk. Thank you again for sharing your week with us.
The piano music on your walk was perfect. Loved when you turned the camera up to the treetops while you walked. 🙂 So sorry your permit was denied. I do agree with you, the wood and stone are beautiful together. I see you creating more beautiful work from your drawing board.🙂
I adore your mix of videophotography, music, projects and nature. What a beautiful world you bring us. ❤ Thank you dearly for your talents and shares.
The best way to spend Sunday evening is watch your new video. Thank you! Greetings from Ukraine🫂
I have been involved in similar projects as Martijn, (not quit as complex or in depth) I suffered a massive heart attack a month ago. Now I will be living vicariously through him . Good medicine while I recover. Thanks, Martijn!

Hello from Italy! I am from the Veneto region, northeast Italy. the world is reunited under martjin videos!
Any task Martin undertakes is done calmly and precisely. No hurry. It doesn't matter what or when. I wonder all the time he needs to plan the position of the camera, his own movements and editing. His skills are those of a generous professional.
Hey Martijn you should really get a proper compost heap going, that Chicken manure is good stuff. Mix it will all your grass clippings, sawdust and kitchen waste and you'll be self sufficient in compost for your expanded vegetable beds.
And bring lots of rats

Spring is poking thru Canadian prairies too. So ready for warmer weather. Love the orange sweater and the new water faucet! Happy blessed Easter to everyone! I’m sure your redesigned shed will be as beautiful as everything else you have done!
I just love to accompany Martijn on his scenic drives of the beautiful Italian countryside. I am touring Italy for FREE 🤪. The floor is looking magnificent and much progress have been made with the plumbing 👋! Martijn's attention to detail and aesthetics is exemplary. Until next week . Keep on grinding my Friend xxx

Just imagine what Martijn does(sets up the camera 🎥, does the shot(walking to his vehicle etc, and then walks back to get the camera each time(of which all is edited out) and produces an awesome video again and again
No that's not it, he has a full time camera crew
@@mikeschofield5500 No he doesn’t He films it himself (edits and production etc) and all the drone footage is done by Martijn
@@mikeschofield5500 “The show is the creation of a 39-year-old Dutch “photographer, film maker, and travel writer” named Martijn Doolaard. His eponymous KZhead channel has over half a million subscribers, all of us tuning in each week to watch him work on the tiny and decrepit stone cabins he bought about a year and a half ago high in the Italian Alps.”
@@stanB950 He's just kidding man. Don't get your knickers in a twist.
I wonder if he does, or could, use the drone as a mobile tripod to avoid traipsing backwards and forwards (I suspect he might be doing so already as some of the shots after the heavy snowfall in the last episode showed no sign of access footprints)
Hi Martijn, I saw it, and I had to convey, that the dragon head (I named it) spigot on "garden tap installation" is absolutely beautiful!
Isn't it lovely?! Such wonderful little details!
I loved it too. So cute.
It's just so 'Martijn' isn't it? "The devils in the details" they say, and it's those beautiful details Martijn takes such care with. I wonder where he found it...I thought I saw him buy something from a market stall when he was away on a short holiday, was it in Turin?
Hi Martijn, wonderful viewing as always, love the bed in front of the fire, cosy, chickens running around, buds on the trees, birds singing, love the little bird that comes to the window in the wall. Have a good week.❤️🙏🐔
The bird is a Bluetit.
Thanks for letting me know the name of the little bird, the Bluetit, have a nice day.😌💐
I would consider installing some sort of electric driven fan in the shower area, even shorter showers will probably impact the wooden frame of the door, the bed, and or the beams and wooden floors in the long run. love the videos Martijn!
Sorry they rejected your wooden workshop, I’m sure the stone will be beautiful too. Your bedroom us looking lovely, I love the way the stone is looking now that it has been sealed❤️✨
Loved the sound of the birds before any dialogue began. You looked on edge and frustrated until the dogs came to visit. They were so happy to see you and that's a good energy that dissolves congestion points both physically and emotionally. I am not a fan of other people deciding what I build on my land. I resorted to some work arounds to build my restaurant that had nothing to do with safety or usability but were politically motivated by the county anticipating new regulations that never materialized. Teeth gnashing. Hard to draw an even breath in the face of seemingly arbitrary roadblocks.
The duck spigot is adorable. 😊
"La mia casetta è piccola ma dentro si sta bene, di fuori il vento sibila lo sento ,eccolo, viene !" To see you enjoying the fruits of your labor is so nice. The ambiance in the fireplace/bedroom, excellent! Nice work! Absolutely beautiful
Is he doing another year
Nice to see the snow retreating up the mountains, spring is returning. Those downed trees represent a serious health threat. Relieving the strain and stress on a tree by limbing it often transfers the stress on the tree in weird ways. I was swept by a loaded limb once that suddenly cut loose its load, explosively so. I’ll never look at a downed tree on a hill the same way. Be safe, take your time, release all the unloaded limbs on top first. Have a tourniquet in a shirt pocket.
Love your mountain home and all of your wonderful work. I look forward to seeing you friends, the little red and white hens, such sweet companions.
Aaahhh, Martijn, another lovely video, even if the work has been frustrating... thank you for the scenery, the music, and the commentary, and as always, sharing your everyday thoughts, projects, and walks...😍😍😍
Spring and the time of hope are approaching. Life is back... It's time to push your personal projects back. Yours is going from strength to strength, going full steam ahead lol. Congratulations
Hallo Martijn. Nice to see this new episode. I think it’s time for safety while working with the chainsaw. Buy a pair of clearing saw protective trousers. The question is not if it’s going wrong sometime, but when. Be prepared. Buy protective shoes and a helmet like neighbour Johannes.
❤❤❤❤ You're looking dapper, sir, with the red sweater taking a stroll. Love the cross piercing the sky in the finale. Lastly, that brick? 1203 etched in the building. Was that the one you received as a gift? Yes, I remember.
All the leaves you collect as well as a thick bed of hay or straw put into the floor of your chicken run, during the coldest winter months, could provide your hens with so much. It not only gives them warmth but enrichment. They can forage and scratch in it. It attracts bugs which they love to hunt and as it breaks down, emits heat. Just a small gesture when it’s the coldest would go along way for happier hens. ❤ following!
Always so happy to see another Martijn Doolaard video notification. A highlight of the week for me. Thanks for sharing your beautiful part of the world with us.
Martijn, @12:58, the word "sealant" works better in English than "impregnator," which calls up quite different images than what you intend. My wife and I really enjoy your videos and we admire your skilled workmanship. Your willingness to learn by testing your materials in advance is inspiring.
Oh deary dear dear! IMPREGNATOR!!!!

I have been watching Martijin for about a year now, and I completely relate to getting this amount of snow ❄️. It happens regularly in the winter here in Vermont. In fact, 24 inches of snow fell here in the last day and a half. I can certainly understand your point of view. But I, on the other hand, would have trouble imagining a winter without a heavy snowfall. It has its own special kind of beauty ✨️. I am sure the southern hemisphere does, too, in a very different way .😊
What a beautiful view you have at night of the town below with all the lights on. Simply beautiful.
23:06 - Voice of Fringílla coélebs(lat) - A migratory bird. 36:33 - Cyanistes caeruleus(lat) - Martin, you can build a feeder next winter near the window and these birds will fly there to feed ! 😊
I love seeing all the abandoned stuctures you pass along your walks. The one you sat near for lunch, sharing the workshop update, was so beautiful. Great propostions and a really nice perch so close to the ledge. Thank you for sharing. Cheers.
Thanks for another beautiful video, Martjin. I say, "cheers", to the stone workshop. If anybody can do this, it is definitely you!❤
Martijn, your skills and fortitude are an inspiration! For example, the way you handle disappointment (from plumbing to declined workshop models) is a wonderful display of faith, personal ethics, and a deep grasp of process. Anyway, your quality of work is stunning to us all! Thanks for taking us along on your walks...such wonderful moments. You look satisfied and fulfilled.
Wow, a Stone workshop. My heart sank we you working on the design because I thought that will be so much harder to accomplish. However you have proven you can do it with patience and hard work and dedication. I look forward to see how it is done. Your videos are just amazing. I have no words to express my gratitude for the nourishing interlude you provide in my life every Sunday, as I have my cocktail before I make my dinner ... and the images from each episode, linger in my mind till next Sunday. Thank you Martjin ... Having a conversation with you as the sun sets, is now officially on my bucket list ...
From my wife. So happy that you cleaned the chicken coop! Sorry about your workshop plans being denied. That's the fun bit of land ownership. Yes, more work, but from your renderings, it will be lovely. Plum trees need a lot of water and some amendments to the soil in order to bear fruit -- but please be aware that once they start producing fruit it can be overwhelming. It depends on which varietal of plum tree you have. Your sweet chickens will eat some bits... Worry about your shower being so close to your bed. Even though you take mini 15 liter showers, you can ruin your bedding and the bed itself. Cheers on the music at the end. Quite lovely. And your edits have so improved ( retired producer with pic and sound editing background ). Welcome to spring!
He'll figure it out, he always does😎
Martijn what stunning scenery. It does not matter in Winter, spring, summer Autumn the views are fantastic and I thank you for sharing it with us. My favourite spot is the place where you sit on that rock when you dad comes to visit, The place where you stood in the dark looking at all the lights on in the valley below, absolutely magical. Another beautiful video and see you next time.
The snow is beautiful. But it really brings a lot of inconvenience. Here where I live we don't have snow. We are delighted to see these beautiful white landscapes. But we have no idea how much harder it is to spend long weeks with so much snow. It's good that spring is now near. Thank you for sharing.

My all time favorite show martijn doolard.
OMG , that full moon view over the city in the Valley was amazing!!! Beautiful!!!
I find a lot of peace in your videos. I’m in the United States, and grew up in essentially chaos without a stone family foundation. I am however proud to be in a career, a firefighter paramedic, with a wonderful wife and daughter. The business of life and demands of Covid leave a large portion of my generation (millennial) longing for the isolation and peace that I find vicariously through your way of living. It’s a beautiful life.
Yours will become exemplary of what can be done while preserving the original aesthetic and as much of the building as possible. It feels authentic and yet suits modern living well, as long as you're not greedy.
Your plum is probably autosterile and needs a pollinator nearby (within about 20 meters). Get yourself a Stanley plum. Young trees only cost about 8 - 20 euros at a nursery (vivaio), depending on whether it is a one-year, two-year or three-year old plant. Purchase locally because it will be acclimated to the climate.
I am disappointed they said no…..but of course they can…..but YOU will conquer…..you are so peaceful and talented……only the best will come your way…..cheers !!!!😊
It's kind of funny. Spring is already much further along here in Germany than in the Italian Alps.😄
Martin, can I suggest when your quince and plum tree are flowering so early that you pollinate them with a little soft brush. They may be too early for the the bees 🐝. Have a good week, thanks for the update 🏴
The bedroom is looking amazing! So happy for you. Your vision is coming to life.
Thank you Martjin, your right most of us would want a longer shower. But your doing whats right and what works for you and your house. I thank you for your walks in your beautiful mountain and its area. The moonlight was gorgeous, then going by and looking in the old stone houses, they are lovely and so sad that they're falling down. The last one you sat down at with the white flowers, I just loved the place. It was so peaceful, a wonderful place for meditation. The sound of the water enhanced the thoughts. Love when you take us on your walks, especially since I can't do so because of mobility issues. Thank you so much Martjin. Blessed Be 🥰💜💜💜🙏
I didn't see that coming... but I admire your positivity with what must be a gut punch. Drifting off to sleep in front of that crackling fire... priceless
Chau Martijn. A calmer week, without cement, without stones. The snow remains and looks like it will return, but spring has already brought a smile. See you next week. Hug.
I am suprised you didnt know about log cabins in that area before you put in your application. Sometimes the regulations can seem excessive but this time I am so happy they are respecting the traditions of the area. It will be worth the extra work

SUPERB once again Martijan …..look forward weekly, to enjoy your excellent videography production, together with current projects✔️. 🏡 from 🇦🇺 Australia..
What a week! Plumbing is a necessary evil sent to test us. So sorry about the rejection of a log cabin. It would have been perfect in this setting but of course, stone will do just as well. These code restrictions can be so ridiculous, defying reason. When we built in the Canadian Rockies, we had to use wood only, and now 20 years later, they demand fireproof rooves due to our risk of wildfires. Love how the hens want to be around you - lucky fowl. Thanks for taking us along on another beautiful walkabout.
