Alpine A110 2019 in-depth review - better than a Porsche Cayman or Audi TT RS?

2024 ж. 28 Сәу.
1 526 332 Рет қаралды

This is the Alpine A110! It’s a new two-seater sports car, and it’s the first Alpine car to be produced since 1995! But a lot can change in 20 years, so does this Renault-owned brand still have what it takes to compete with the likes of the Audi TT RS and the Porsche 718 Cayman? Stick with Mat for his latest review to find out!

  • This car hit its own briefing perfectly and will be a classic for sure. Anyone who trashes it, just doesn't understand it. True drivers don't prioritise comfort, build materials or gadgets. Nice to see an alternative to the heavy, business class dross Germany churns out.

    • yeah I don't like anything about it, although I love driving. I'm a fan of hot hatches and stiff cars, but this one looks so uninteresting to me. I'm not really into practical cars, but not having space for even a suitcase just makes it impossible for me take it on a trip with me and enjoy it, doesn't it? Also, don't care about luxury, but everything rattling off inside is a turn off. The styling is so forgettable and unrelatable it makes me not care about it. It screams.. nothingness. It means nothing to me. And all this + renault shutting down renault sport just means they can go f themselves and sell alpines to whoever they want. Just not me.

  • I'm sorry mate, but the cluster cover trim IS actually carbon fiber. the interior feels cheap becau it's literally the clio's dashboard that we converted into a more sporty look. i say we because im the development engineer who worked on that instrument panel at Faurecia.

  • First time i would talk about a review of carwow not in a good way, let me explain why: First of all it's actually carbon fiber , period. Sure it's not top notch how it fit in the car but it is what it is: carbon fiber, not plastic. Second: the speakers was made specially by Focal for the A110, the sound system was develloped for 5 years, kind of sad to just reduce it by: not much quality. Third and the most important: This car is all about having less weight and still having a good experience (still have a good audio system, still have clim) not so extreme like the mighty 4C. So yes, it have compromise in materials BUT it's clear as daylight that if you want top material+spé on a car , just buy a 100k £ Cayman S with all options. Hope my mess of a message have a little explain why i'm not ok with the review. (if you read all of this, have a nice day)

  • Yes, the Cayman is almost perfect and easy to drive fast. But the Alfa 4C and Alpine A110 have "character". They have some minor issues but you won't use these cars as an everyday driver. They are good for the weekend (or a race track) and therefor your second (or third) car. They cayman could be your daily driver but it won't thrill you. That's the reason I bought the Alfa ;)

  • Excellent review once again. A shame Alpine decided to benchmark Porsche on price (as well). The engineering in assembly, the materials specs and the versatility are just not par with Porsche's together with its gearbox and not to mention the brand's history, dealership network and mods parts supply chain. Here we have another brand making the same mistake as Lotus have done for donkey years: trying to be par on price with Porsche without being level on all attributes. Hats off anyway for a very well engineered chassis and an overall lightweight figure. Too expensive in my opinion and too restricted in what a customer can opt for which is another Porsche strong point

Cars are made to move people and some goods from point A to point B.. Look at Saab was one of the most advanced and sophisticated brands on the market, they had so many crazy features on cars before others but they did not sell big volumes, so if they would sell more probably they would not force GM to pull them off.. Meanwhile Dacia is owned by Renault, Renault can not afford to pull out Dacia since is a very successful brand that sell by dozens.. like it or not some people will continue to buy affordable cars and Dacia is the best on this chapter (case closed).

If a button serves an dual function (in this case start OR stop) it should not be colour coded to either of those functions if it can't be to both. Now, green is generally held to mean go, and red to mean stop. What comes 'in between'? yes, amber ... AKA orange. You're welcome.
