Axton, Sal, and Maya got done extremely dirty

@@energeticgorilla I first played BL3 didn’t knew anyone and was actually irritated by the story and first saw maya I said she seems pretty cool then she’s dies and I said to myself “oh..... well okay?” After the game I decided to do all the side quest and collect all the echo logs. I stumbled over kriegs echo which I don’t know later I found him trying to become sane over maya and she promised to see him again. Then I said “ohhh ohhhh ah $##t.” I bought bl2 and my homeboy play krieg and it was pretty funny hearing him talk. But dude I was wonder what was happening when he transform into a badass psycho. Omg krieg is terrifying if you get to his ugly side. Then Ava was the reason maya died (despite the writers didn’t attend that to be the reason I’m guessing lol). Then I found Maya’s echo for her wanting adventure and learn more what it means to be a siren. I like how BL3 focuses more on sirens then they killed maya the best guide and she easy could of told us all about it. Then I started to wonder did anyone tell krieg that maya is dead? Then that release a trailer for kriegs dlc and I was freaking at my homeboy. I was wondering who was going to tell krieg, and is he going snap and go on a rampage on Ava. Well that’s not the case cuz I actually forgot sirens can talk to you in your mind and maya copied and paste herself in kriegs head so he wouldn’t be lonely and told him to trust Ava. When I found a echo with krieg describing maya Dancing on the dance floor doing her own thing and doesn’t give a damn about what anyone thinks about her. I said to myself wow that sounds like a girl I would drool over lol. Then I reach the final her final echo in kriegs head and probably her last words. Maya blew up for me. Me and my homies were literally crying and I had to put down the controller just to smoke like 4 cigarettes just to get back to playing. Oh my god dude she’s soo fantastic and gearbox just wrote her out for Ava man. I had to not play BL3 for a whole month and just played other games. Because when I think about how maya was set up in BL3 to died and even kriegs dlc she was somewhat of a side character that was just soo likable. Yeah yeah I sound like a retarded simp simping for a blue hair waifu but god damn Maya’s potential in borderlands could of made borderlands even more better. Wouldn’t you agree?
I like what Zer0 has been doing since the second game. It's more in his nature in my opinion.
It also shows that he came to respect Rhys and what he's trying to do,and that he's trying to prevent another "handsome Jack situation" from occuring.

This is what happens when you bring in new writers with no respect for the original source material. They don't understand anything about what they're writing for so, in turn, they mess everything up. The writers then usually have their egos too inflated to ever consider retconning bad decisions or coming up with ways around them, simply pushing forward and ignoring fan input. The best examples that come to mind are the Star Wars Sequel trilogy and the 343i Halo games (4, 5, and Infinite).

@@thischannelwasamistake9403cringe millennial writing would've been the death of borderlands 3, the story is outright repulsive and the writing is pure cringe, they should thank their lucky stars for whoever was in charge of the actual gameplay because if it wasn't for that it would've flopped hard, and even then the gameplay is amazing but no gameplay is good enough for me to replay a story i actively hate, i prioritize gameplay but if the story i am playing makes me wanna vomit I'm not going to stick around, especially considering how much time the worthless dialogue and story takes up when you're playing the campaign, minutes at a time standing around waiting for the writers to get over themselves and let me progress with the mission, i can wait for dialogue if it's actually good, but forcing me to listen to the verbal manifestation of vomit the mentally unwell writers consider dialogue is far too much. The dlc's had acceptable writing, I'll give them that, but a few felt stretched, the krieg DLC was the only one i would outright call good, the others go from decent to mediocre, the marriage DLC is only saved because I'm a sucker for Lovecraft and the jackobs DLC wasn't that good. I did like Jack's casino even tho it's more decent than good simply because moxie is a central character and the bl2 enemies are great, then again that's because they come from bl2.

Despite them splitting up, it seems like they are still close friends. Axton and Sal clearly still keep in touch, Gaige acknowledges what happened to Maya, Maya wonders how Axton's doing despite being "dead" Zer0 remembers how much of a badass Maya is and sends his condolences and Krieg still thinks about Maya in that crazy head of his. Adventures forges the best friendships.

I remember being so disappointed when Axton didn’t show up in Borderlands 3. He was my main from 2 and I remember just waiting till the last minute hoping that him and the other vault hunters might make a surprise cameo.

I kinda wish maya didn’t showed up in Bl3 I felt like she was great then got done soo dirty out of everyone in this game it’s a pure crime.
Honestly surprised he didn't stay. After Roland died there was somewhat of a need for someone with military experience to help Lilith with leading the Crimson Raiders. His echoes in BL2 suggested he wanted an actual challenge. It would be interesting, if he is a glory hound, contending with Lilith as the leader. Modeling isn't that. More vaults would've been a challenge even if he wouldn't be playable.

I wish the writing in BL3 was better. They mishandled so much.
The transference of Maya's power to Ava would've been okay if they didn't frame Ava as the reason Maya died. I mean Maya could've just died there due to fighting the Calypsos and Ava was just late to help instead of their bickering being the cause of Maya's death... I don't dislike Ava but she still has a lot of character growth for me to like her.

Story-aside, the maps/enviroments of BL3 wasn't as interesting as the previous games. It felt like a chore playing it which was a shame because I loved 1 and 2.

Salvador,axton,and gaige dipping after the pre-sequal makes no sense.Especially since the latter two were seen recruiting aurelia and others,while Salvador would no doubt be furious after what the calypso's did to pandora.

@@ItzNiekoyo I know I meant as they might of started on developing the story based the ending of the pre seqel but then later changed it and did something else and tht was what we got and are saving tht for bl4 prob.

So much of the presequel and FFS's plots were ignored in order to make room for Ava and Tyreen. Bl3 is a bad fanfiction, I've actually read self insert fanfics that are better written.
As a person who mained Gaige, its good to know that she's doing as good as one can be in her circumstances.

As a Borderlands veteran, I like Borderlands 3... gameplay wise. They did a really great job with the mechanics of the game, However, everytime I play a new game for the story, it feels like Im part of someones Siren fanfiction with their self insert oc. Seriously everyone can be a siren now, The Destroyer is now relevant again pretty much feeling like they recycled it. Writers giving Ava alot of spotlight than some other characters because apparently shes important after what happened to Maya. Its all over the place. If Borderlands 4 will ever happen. Cross your fingers and hope it wont be an utter dumpster fire.

Bl4 is something that will most likely happen. The watchers (I think that's the name) promise in the pre sequel hasn't been fulfilled yet. There is still the 6th siren to be revealed and even a possible 7th siren due to logs from Lilith in bl3. Not to mention that there are still more vaults to discover as shown at the end of BL2. We open only 2 of the many vaults that are at places other than pandora
It will be a dumpster fire unless they get a villan on par with handsome jack which I don't see happening

I hate how everyone leaves the crimson raiders. Lilith is gone, the original commander is gone, brics and Mordecai are in the B team which means the A team is literally just the player, the crimson raiders basically don't exist and are just the "main character and quest giver" faction. There's 3 crimson raiders who are still crimson raiders and they're a crazy teenager, a drunkard and an actual mongoloid, krieg was the most competent there and he was literally insane, and even he left. The only one that had any business leaving was zero and even then that's not really true. Gaige, axton, sal, maya, lilith, krieg, zero, mord, brics, tina alongside the 4 new vault hunters, that's a proper faction with some power and influence, that's a believable force to build a narrative around, not just "hey the crimson raiders are you and lilith, actually nevermind she's dead too so now ava is in charge of the crimson raiders, which is a faction made up of a single person, you" And the game somehow acts like the crimson raiders are an actual group of people as if it's not literally just you. You feel more like a part of atlas than you ever do the Crimson raiders, you fight alongside Lorelei, the soldiers and zero, with the crimson raiders you fight two missions with maya who left and then she dies. I felt more like an atlas mercenary or moxie's attack dog than a crimson raider.
Borderlands 3 left us all asking "why is ava alive? Why? Just...why?"
If BL3 has taught us anything is that you should never have a teenage girl as an apprentice, especially if you don't have the balls to discipline her.
After watching the cutscene and remembering that.... yep ava is not siren material

I think Salvadors tab in the Lodge is more of an Easteregg with him always having the BIGGEST bounty everywhere. Also, if the lodge can appear anywhere, i.e. athena, i think its possible that Salvador wasnt even on Xylourgos, just in the lodge it self.

I wish Borderlands 3's story wasn't so poorly done and didn't feel so far removed from the rest of the overarching plot. Like really? the main villains were just popular bandits? All the other games had you facing off against entire military mega corporations. I know, overused talking point but it's one of the easiest to bring it up so I did it first. Next, what the hell happened to the whole coming battle mentioned at the end of the pre sequel? They needed to gather everyone because apparently there was something powerful threatening the fate of Pandora and so everyone just decides to split up? Most of the characters just kinda disappear until they're needed for a couple hours of screentime? Where the hell was Athena? Were the Calypso Twins supposed to be the big threat? God I hope not. Borderlands 3's story just felt like an uninspired, poorly written, tedious fetch quest that took too much time away from the actual adventure everyone was supposed to be on. And I'll never forgive what happened to Maya. They showed us with Roland that a character can be removed from the story and have it be impactful, and change the entire dynamic and stakes of the story. How did they screw it up so bad with Maya.
The villains were honestly fine, the idea of uniting the splintered groups of psychos was fresh for the series, it’s what they did with the other characters that they screwed up, and considering gearbox literally said they left out characters like krieg and Gaige to make room for new characters and then have us Ava is what ruins it
I fully believe that borderlands 3's battle, wasn't what was teased in pre sequel. I mean all the characters we know are split up. We get individual dlc's with them. So hopefully borderlands 4 is the big war

Had they not betrayed Jack, disfigured him, and drove him over the edge, He wouldn't have committed all those nasty acts. All he wanted to do was stop bandits.* *Thus I could only think "Good riddance to bad rubbish" when Lilith died. Now Ava has truly taken Lilith's place*

@@ReverendSyn Jack was highly unstable far before that, having watched his wife die. ( Which he partly blames bandits for and partly blames Angel in BL1&3 ) He'd already committed some terrible acts ( let's face it, so has most of the 'heroes' in BL ), could things have changed if they hadn't betrayed him? Short answer, no. The vault and the warrior would have still been opened, although it might've been them working together again to get it done. Long answer, it does make you think. In the Moxxi DLC, before you fight the main boss in Jack's VIP area, there are only two photos on either side of the wall. Angel and Moxxi.
I feel like I missed a LOT of the story, since I never played Tales, and I haven't purchased any BL3 DLCs yet. But the Main Story in BL3 left a lot to be desired for me, personally. I kept expecting Tyreen and Troy to turn against each other, and the bandits split into two factions, and the Crimson Raiders then use this conflict to take on these Godlike adversaries... but alas.
Yeah it seems like they really rushed the writing of this game especially the end.

I hope whenever we do get Borderlands 4, that vault hunters of Borderlands 2 gets to play a bigger role. One of things I loved of 2 was that cast of 1 got play big role with the story. So it crushed me a bit that they were basically locked way in DLC.
Gaige is my favorite vault hunter tbh I fangirled when I found out there was gonna be a dlc with her in it
Ava was a dark, dark point in Borderlands 3, and honestly, the writing is the main reason I still haven't embarked on a second playthrough. As funny as the four new Hunters are, the story and writing is a nightmare.
In the base game there is no development shown at all. But with DLC 6 we get a deleted scene, that scene being included would have fixed Ava's character
The DLCs greatly improve in writing quality (The Hammerlock DLC has my favorite side mission in any BL game, as well as one of my favorites in any game ever). The way I get through the main game is muting dialogue and turning off subtitles.

The only things I didn’t like were Ava and Tyreen, at least Troy had some kind of character development throughout the story.
Tyreen started out cocky and annoying, while Troy was relatively humble even when he he was at his most powerful. He’s actually likable, while I don’t think I’ve ever respected Tyreen.

Glad to see Zer0 is still a assassin/merc combo. Plus it's always good to see my favorite Cyber Ninja is doing alright. Glad to see Axton is a p*rnstar, wish i could buy that bodypillow. Maya was my first bl2 character and I'm sad to see what happened to her. Sal is just neing sal. Glad to see how well Krieg is coping and being semi sane. Still dislike Gaige as a character but I'm happy she's employed one way or another. Glad to see auralia got domed by the vault hunters after shooting hammerlock even though she was my second favorite character is tps. Glad to see Timothy. Wilhelm and Nisha got got for being Hyperion trash. Claptrap is still being claptrap. Where is Athena and Janey? I liked that couple. Rip Roland. Lilith.. You could've just left or sacrificed Ava but nooooo, you just had to be a hero. My bois Brick and Morty still being Bros as always. And Rhys, your mustache is majestic.
Nisha was Jack's girlfriend, but she wasn't Hyperion, and our boi Wilhelm wanted money and to become a robot, which Jack provided. I honestly wish Wilhelm's fight was bit harder in Bl2, I was shocked how easy he was after first playing as him in Bl:TPS (even though, canonically, it took all 6 vault hunters to kill him).

Sal was probably my favorite character gameplay wise (broken af) and personality wise in Borderlands as a whole, really sad to see him done dirty like this, but I feel worse for Maya. She deserved way better than what happened to her in BL3.

Borderlands 3 story was just absolutely doo doo water.
the side missions and DLCs are better on the story part. which is a shame since if the base game was as good as BL2 on all parts, that would make it memorable.

True. I am also a Siren main, a and a quite good one to say it myself, making a lot of crazy combos and shit. I just love playing as a Siren. But if Ava is the next one, I will start learning how to play as a different class immediately.

I only ever played as Zer0 in Borderlands 2. To this day, he is my favourite vault hunter.
I always played him too, I was just always great with a sniper, and I loved his abilities
I kinda cant help but to think, that by killing handsome jack, they killed a huge part of the franchise. The gameplay was always decent, but imo Handsome jack always carried the story. Just cant wait to see who they will decide to yeet out in bl4

100000% agree, would be neat if they picked up on the option where Rhys keeps the echo stuff that had Jack's AI in it. Bring back the big boy, revive his glory. Who knows, maybe he could get some redemption

Yeah. The original 4 Vault Hunters from BL 1 had drifted apart too, but at least BL 2 gave us good reasons for it and a satisfying reunion that the player got to take part in. I don't know what the hell they were thinking with what they gave us in BL 3, but it was such callous and badly thought out crap. Every one of these characters were somebody's favorite from the last game. They deserved so much better.

I remember a theory I was making before BL3 came out but we got trailers... Zer0 stared in the Prometheus quest line while Maya stared in the Athena quest line. So my theory was, in order to make things digestible and not be cluttered with characters, each of the planets we went to would start the other Vault Hunters working alongside with us, at this point I didn't know how many planets there would be, but it felt like the direction.
I mean I'm happy BL# kept Axton alive sorta... but it also ruins the fuck out of everything you learn in Pre Sequel. Axton and Gaige went off and tried to recruit Aurellia to the raiders and there's zero mention of any of that... it's almost like BL3's writer's just wanted to wank to their OC Ava and show off how powerful and cool the children of Typhon Deleon are. I honestly would rather had the game end at the joke ending than how they utterly ruined my memory of the Destroyer. Holy shit I never thought Pre Sequel would do something better, but they paid better homage to the Destroyer.

not to mention only 2 of bl2 hunters contribute to the GALACTIC-SCALE-WAR with the CoV. also gaige is turned into a simp while her backstory conflict with the holloways was put into indefinite hold. thats why borderlands 3 doesn't exist in my headcanon.
Borland's 1 and 2 holds so many great memories.
This is the difference between when a writer (or, in BL3's case, writers) has respect for the source material and wants to build onto it further and when they just want to chuck away everything they don't like/don't know how to use and replace it with their own shit. When Anthony Burch came on to write Borderlands 2, even the throwaway NPCs from the first game like Helena Pierce and Shep Sanders were part of the story and used in ways that made you, as the player, care about them. And then, on top of that, he also brings in a bunch of great new characters like the new vault hunters, Torgue, Tiny Tina, Handsome Jack, etc. Contrast it with Borderlands 3 where the old characters are largely absent or irrelevant while all but a handful of the new characters who get more of the focus put on them are either bland, dull, or downright unlikeable. It's like night and day.
Anthony Burch, for all of his faults, is an excellent writer. I wish he'd never left GearBox. Imagine how good Wonderlands and BL3 could've been with him at the helm.

I was always under the impression that only one vault hunter survived the train at the beginning of Borderlands 2 and that was whoever you chose to play

Bit sad that we didn't get the BL2 vault hunters back in the same way that we got the BL vault hunters back in BL2. In BL2 you see them hanging out TOGETHER in sanctuary, they talk with each other, and they have big chunks in the story. In BL3... only Zero and Maya made it, and they killed off Maya. I was like "awwww" when Zer0 mentioned Maya before the drive to Apollyon station, but that was it. I was really hoping I'd see them all interact with each other in sanctuary III ):

Hey I have a theory on zero. Based off a boss fight in borderlands 3, when you fight the ceo of maliwan I believe zero is an ex human maliwan assassin! Why? Look at the boss! They wear the same suit, use the same weapons and tactics and again in this universe of people changing sides it makes sense for zero to leave for it not being a “challenge” for him.
This is super late, but actually Katagawa just copied Zero’s sneaking suit. Hence why Rhys thought Zero was chasing him and why Katagawa’s knockoff suit failed

They did Maya, Axton, Salvador along with Rhys & Vaughn dirty; not to mention Ava feels like a self insert OC that someone wants us to like desperately but severely brings the story down when she gets Maya killed and gives Lilith shit for it. The Calypso Twins are annoying with only Troy getting some decent character development before he gets killed off when he should have been the final boss, no I take that back actually the twins should have been the midway bosses of the game and the final boss should have been Katagawa.Jr since he was a more interesting character than both of the twins together. Mid-credits scene should have shown glimpses of the coming war of the Vault Hunters and the return of the Elridans.

We need the writers of Borderlands 1, 2, Pre-sequel, and Tales of the Borderlands back. They would have changed everything and hopefully brought back the previous borderlands 2 characters back in action.

Well it's hinted in the game that ava could sense maya when she absorbed her siren powers. Which could be made into a story that sirens exist after death in those tattoos as like soul energy. So the calypso twins might still be in lilith. Because she absorbed tyreen, who absorbed troy.

Who wants to give a guess about where the Borderlands 3 VHs will be after the events of the game? I’d say that FL4K will leave and continue their journey for the hunt, Zane will stay with the Raiders but be more of a loner “operative” type where he runs solo missions, Moze will stay directly with the raiders and Amara may return to Partali with the new glory she has achieved throughout the game.
Zane will do stuff with zero. Fl4k will stay a vault hunter, close to the raiders but usually just hunting vaults for the hunt. Amara will stay with tannis, trying to bring back maya and Lilith. Moze will either join back with vladof, stay with the raiders, or become a wanderer and look for better iron bear parts

bl1: vault hunters destroy an eridian world destroyer keep it hide in a vault bl2: vault hunters decieve by Jack, survive and the original vault hunters are trying to save pandora, fighting a mega corporation and a world full of bandits, opening a new vault and killing a eridian weapon. bl3:fanfiction story. bl2 vault hunter are almost not existent, bl1 vault hunters are getting trouble by bandits? worts writing and story of the franchise

I super appreciate the no spoiler episode, I'm fairly certain I am almost done with the campaign, but I wanted to get up to date on the characters again. I am happy to say the community for BL3 even with years of the franchise, is very well behaved and doesn't just do spoilers left and right. Can't say the same for the Miitopia community, freak them. >.> Level of maturity difference there I suppose..

It makes sense most would split after B2, I wish we had been able to get some big scene where they all reunite in B3. Like, all the Vault Hunters (who are still alive, at least) from all the games coming together and doing something fucking awesome! That's what I would have wanted.

Zer0 is my favorite character in the second game but it’s obvious he was a big favorite to the devs.
I really hope krieg will be either a playable character again or just make a physical apperance for bl4. Because the first time i played the dlc i thought krieg had died or sumn but if he's just out there somewhere then i hope he gets more screen time in bl4. just hope it's not a dlc again. some main game screen time would be cool even if he was just there for a side quest. idk it felt cheap just putting him in a dlc and not even physically there. i also loved playing him in bl2. his voicelines were funny and his overall skill trees were really fun. especially the melee. its just mindless rampaging not any high tech camo or turrets just literal monkey brain. melee based characters are always fun imo
