Lyrics:
We get it almost every night
When that moon is big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark and they don't bite
They keep things loose they keep it tight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and bright
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
We like our fun and we never fight
You can't dance and stay uptight
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight
Is it just me or does this song just give a feeling of nostalgia for no reason?

This is my favorite song because it's connected with a very precious memory from my childhood. My parents got divorced when I was 2 years old. I stayed with my mom and I saw my dad from time to time. Until I was 5 years old I saw him every 2 weeks and when I was 4 or 5 years old he listened to this song all the time on repeat. We listened to it while we were in his art studio and he was working on his projects and I was playing next to him and it was such a peaceful atmosphere. The older I got the more complicated my relationship to him got because he got depression and wasn't able to care for his children anymore. Later he died and at that time he became already something like a stranger for me even if I always loved him very much. So this song puts me always back to those moments where everything was peaceful and good.

I worked on this video. It was a mad shoot. We had to clear out an entire house in New Cross. It was about an 18 hour day if I remember. The video still looks great to this day. I remember the director loved those fairy lights and put them all over the place. I spent a lot of the time encouraging people to dance on the top floor to keep the vibe going :) Those were the days, hanging out with fashion models and going to wild parties - another lifetime :) This is the first time I have actually watched the whole video! One night in Berlin my ex-girl and I have decided to go and explore the most peculiar pubs in the city. So after a few places we were going drunk and it started snowing hard when we arrived in a small and perfect cocktail-bar that was themed by the 90's. I remember they even had a Nintendo 64 where you could play Super Smash Bros. They also had the most beautiful playlist, which included this song. I remember that while listening to it, sipping tasty beverages and laughing on how we sucked at the game we first confessed each other about our love. From this day on for years until we broke up this remained our song. From that day onward this song will always remind me of the beauty in being young, naive and in love for the first time. What an amazing song, makes you forget your anxiety, worries & stress. Takes you into that fantasy where life is all good.
That’s why I started listening to this song rn ! 😣😮💨❤️
Life is ALL good 🥰
This is exactly why it was written in the first place, in fact it's quite a sad story. Writer of the original, Sherman Kelly says; "On a trip to St. Croix in 1969, I was the first victim of a vicious gang who eventually murdered 8 American tourists. At that time, I suffered multiple facial fractures and wounds and was left for dead. While I was recovering, I wrote "Dancin In The Moonlight" in which I envisioned an alternate reality, the dream of a peaceful and joyful celebration of life."
That's the exact reason I listen to it, it takes me away not just from my anxiety, but quite frankly my PTSD, it's an amazing song, especially when their are positive memories linked to it

I'm playing this as apart of a setlist in my band. Must say, the bass is very simple when you master your transitioning skills, same pattern goes through the whole song, yet there are so many improvised parts including fills, octaves, etc that make this song so much more interesting and unique, like you can play the same fill over and over as opposed to doing all the different ones the bass in this song does, and no one would even tell because it all sounds good. I'm a bit of a bass nerd so excuse me, haha. Love this song
