    • One of the best clean hits I’ve seen in a very long time; years! This check should be shown around the league as an example: Of how defenceman can incorporate & utilize good clean checking into their defensive game. Miles Wood (being the stand-up guy he is) said it was a good clean check after the game.

  • Ref made the perfect call with giving extra 2 to NJ, that was a solid clean hard check. I’ll also just point out, as commentators failed too, that under league rules any head contact as part of that check is absolutely legal as the check itself is through the trunk of the body, the head is not targeted, and the player put himself in a position where minor (lower chin/neck) contact was unavoidable. Know I’m not alone in thinking today’s league needs more checks like that.

    • Knocked the wind out of his brain. It was clean by the letter of the law, but it's the type of borderline hit that people get mad about when Tom Wilson makes them. Caught the body with the head, but still a good amount of head contact, and was a blind side/predatory hit. IMO it's clean in the way Scott Stevens was clean when he played.

    • You’re 100% correct Declan. We (me) Isles fans forgot just how young he is. (He just turned 23) It took him a good 3/4 of the season for him to figure out our scheme/system and to find his place is on the team. He was a much better defender the last 2 months of the season before he was got injured. Also, as you know (because I can tell you know hockey) he’s already an important part of this team, but the more time that goes by & the more his play improves. He’ll become an essential part of this team’s success moving forward. If Noah Dobson actually progresses next season. (Unlike this season where he regressed) And if Romanov keeps progressing as he is? I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t be D-partners? It didn’t workout this season. However, Dobson & Aho can not be D-partners. Aho is to small & with a player like Dobson, you need a player like Romanov or Pelech as his partner, not Aho! Ideally, Alexander and Noah will be become the dual pairing we envisioned when we required Alexander from Montreal. Which by the way; was an excellent move on Lou’s part.

    • No, Stevens didn't hit like this, Stevens either caught guys late or deliberately went for the head. It was Kasparaitis who threw beautiful bodychecks like this. Don't be a revisionist, be truthful.

    • @@okyouknowwhatever Jesus dude, where did I say they were clean? I literally just explained it to the last guy that didn't get it. Clean/dirty/late/deliberate, Stevens would catch guys going across the ice as they entered the zone.
