His striking is lovely to watch. I'm nearly 43, used to read Black Belt magazine when Bill Superfoot Wallace was featured in it. Payton's striking shows how far the bar has risen for the martrial arts in general. A lot more naturally gifted fighters are incentivized to choose mma over other sports now. The UFC has nasty vibes, but it created the momentum that incentivized this rise in the martial arts, so I cannot help but feel grateful. Has Payton faced any strong wrestlers? I wonder if he can handle someone like Merab yet.
