  • I was at a cross country race back in 2016, and I remember being a huge disqualification for one of the racers because they threw a shoe at the racer behind them, the racer who got hit was my best friend since 1st grade, so I was obviously upset about this but luckily the other crappy racer got in trouble. For instance, a football player faking an injury and earning his team a free/side throw that results in one goal. The judges then realize the foul play only a minute after the goal has been scored, and they're likely to still not invalidate that goal because it wasn't a *direct* consequence of the cheating, despite being facilitated by it.

  • I got a good one for you: The 1982 Germany vs Austria soccer game, also known as the "Disgrace of Gijón," took place during the second round of the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain. The game was played on June 25, 1982, and ended in a 1-0 victory for West Germany. However, the match is remembered for the way it was played, rather than the result. Germany needed to win by a margin of one or two goals to advance to the next round, while Austria only needed to avoid a three-goal defeat to qualify. As a result, the game was played in a cautious and uninspired manner, with both teams appearing to be content with the 1-0 scoreline. The situation was exacerbated by the fact that the game was played after the other match in the group between Algeria and Chile, which Algeria won 3-2, meaning that a 2-0 win for Germany would have sent Algeria through instead of Austria. The lack of attacking intent from both teams led to boos and jeers from the crowd in Gijón, as well as criticism from the media and footballing authorities. The game has been widely regarded as one of the worst examples of unsporting behavior in the history of the World Cup.
