    • @@cameronhoman2742 some tourism is allowed because it brings in hard cash for the government (usually US dollars). The global sanctions on trading (including tourism) prevents much cash ending up in the hands of "the people" i.e. government and Kim himself. Something has to pay for those high-end brands after all! They get most of their money from Russia and China, but that comes either from the "wages" of workers sent abroad to friendly/neutral countries. Eg there's a government run chain of NK restaurants where the waitresses are sent without consent to serve and later on, entertain with a little band of traditional NK instruments and players. So, there's a rather convoluted answer for you. HTH 😊

  • For a bit of understanding on why these laws seem so absurd, part of the reason is that absurdity. It is a nation which requires constant suffering in order to exist. If the needs of a person aren't met and they have to struggle to survive, there isn't enough time or resources to successfully push back against the government. It also is worth noting that one of the main sources of labor in the nation is prison labor. The reason so many people are arrested for absurd things is that North Korea needs to arrest people in order to keep its economy even the slightest bit intact.

  • Folks, I love your videos a lot. So much so, that I'll just put on your "all our videos" playlist just to have as background noise on one of my monitors while I work. When you're watching videos one after the other, one thing you will notice is the differing base volume levels. Having to jump from work to adjust the volume, is common place. I thought this was just with your old videos, but, this video is a perfect example of one that is super quiet compared to previous. Having a base DB level in editing is easy to achieve. Hope you take this as constructive criticism. I do really love what you folks do.
