After a year of procrastinating here's another video!
Today I'm going to share the next stages of my mermaid tail making and that includes SWIM FOOTAGE!
As some of you may know I love making mermaid tails and mermaid related goodies. Last year I took on a project of my dreams - a resin/silicone hybrid mermaid tail inspired by the rose quartz crystal. Of course life happened and it took me quite a long time to make and film + edit all of the footage but here it is finally!
In this video we're going to be making a 100% silicone monofin which is a tricky task...
But I hope you enjoy!
I'm hoping to get the whole tail made in time for Mercon UK which gives me a month to work on it! AAAAAAAAAAAAH! HELP! lol
Anyway, I forgot how this whole yt thing works so here's the video I guess....

  • So cool, you should consider putting power mesh on the inside of your straps to prevent them from tearing

  • That turned out so cool! 🦑 I love the "squid" design. I know how you feel - I never got a video up last year at all 😥. What my younger self wouldn't give to have a mermaid tail! I definitely spent a lot of my summers playing in water.

  • What silicone did you use? If possible can you put in a link to get it. I'm making a silicone tail and can't find the right silicone to use.

  • Could one maybe make a less floppy monofin by putting acrylic glass between the two pieces of silicone? I am asking because I have a Magictail tail where the monofin is made out of acrylic glass, and so I thought this would be an option.

    • You also could put a plastic sheet

      @Evelyn-dh4zp@Evelyn-dh4zp Жыл бұрын
    • @@Evelyn-dh4zp But one has to be careful in choosing the plastic. A broken fluke blade inside the silicone could be dangerous. I searched for the material Mahina Monofins have in their fluke blade, and it seems to be fibreglass. Fibreglass actually means plastic reinforced with glass fibres, which brings us back to your idea. Thank you for your response. :)

    • @@sapphandranox okay thank you for the information, I just know that I am making a monofin and was going to buy a plastic sheet to make it less floppy and more powerful. Thank you for this information though it will be very helpful and important to know

      @Evelyn-dh4zp@Evelyn-dh4zp Жыл бұрын
    • @@Evelyn-dh4zp But be careful when cutting the fibreglass, some small pieces could fly around, so protective wear and a mask would be good.

  • This person is doing very well, and seem like they know what they are doing, but not every monofin you make is safe. I recommend buying a fin from fin fun, they aren’t too expensive and are very durable. No hate to the creator, just giving a disclaimer as somebody who has been doing this for a few years. Please don’t go make a cardboard fin and think that is is safe. You can’t use any silicone either. Not trying to ruin the fun, just giving a safety tip. This woman has been using silicone and mermaiding for a while and her fin does look pretty stable, just giving a reminder to do research first.
