This is part 1 of making a hybrid mermaid tail (both fabric and silicone)! I'll take you through the steps I took to create the tail.
In this video you'll see me make a leg sleeve from performance fabric and a monofin from a pair of bi-fins, plastic shelf liner, and eva foam. Stay turned for part II to see the rest of the build!
Disclaimer: I am not a professional, this tail is a photography prop.
Materials (for part 1):
-Performance Nylon/Spandex Fabric
-Plastic Shelf Liners : amzn.to/3eXZiAG
-EVA Foam : amzn.to/3iRiscr
-Speedo Unisex-Adult Swim Training Fins : amzn.to/3iHNcg8
-E6000 adhesive : amzn.to/3iP3qnJ
-Loctite Super Glue : amzn.to/3rCEmo8
Materials (for part 2):

    • Professional silicone mer-tails are definitely worth it, but it is rewarding to create your own too!

  • You could also sand the two surfaces that you need to glue and they should stick.

    • Thanks for your suggestion! I did try that off camera, but alas it still didn't want to adhere the rubber and plastic!

  • How did the silicone hold up overtime? Did it eventually peel off?

  • is there any reason you didnt glue the shelf plastic on top of each other for a thicker tail? do you think it would be too stiff?
