The story makes you feel like that for a reason. When we see bad people, like Hitler, Pablo Escobar, Al Capone, or even someone like Charles Manson, we label these individuals as these evil things, and we leave it at that. In other words, we dehumanize them. But these are people had reasons for doing what they did. Those reasons are not too different from ones we use daily to justify our own actions. Joel had his reasons for doing what he did, which make sense to us as the player. We don't feel like the bad guy when we play with joel. We want Joel to do these things. We as the player have humanized the bad guy we play with. That's why you feel that way after playing that game. The game dissolves the idea of bad people
Let's be honest, it was not recommended, we all searched for this nostalgia

Kailyn P Red Dead Redemption II, God Of War, Uncharted, Detroit Become Human and The Last Of Us impacted my life. As you said, it leaves you with that empty feeling. Especially with The Last Of Us, I think it's because we are so close to having that game be our reality. Well, it already kind of is. And listening to this soundtrack sends shivers down my spine, the game is fantastic. Detroit Become Human too, there are many endings of course...but the one where the androids have won it still feels empty for me. They have won, what now? They aren't fighting for anything. Will they just live in peace? I'm sorry for this, haha. Games just mean so much to me and for a lot of other people. Games can do a lot of things with you, change you. I don't play video games but somehow after bumping into this music compilation I end up watching the game walkthrough. It was long, i'll admit. But it was gripping, heart-pounding and the story has a lot of heart in it. I never thought, for the first time, I would connect to a game like this as I have never been a video gamer myself. Watching the entire walkthrough felt like a cinematic experience. I connected to the characters. To the music. To the environment. To the story. I'm really happy to have been able to know The Last Of Us by accident because it gave me a feeling of belongingness like everyone here feels. And I'm so excited for the TV show coming next year(2023). I just hope it has a lot of heart in it the way the original game has. It unmatched. And is beautiful in it's rightful way. 😊 Reading comments in this section made me feel I have a community in here. Keep safe, guys.
I’ll never forget the summer when TLoU released. I must not have paid much attention to the upcoming titles launching, because I had no idea about this game. IGN dropped their review (hey they were slightly more credible at the time) and they gave this game a 10. Games are awarded 10’s all the time in this day and age (Resident Evil 4 REMAKE got a 10, yes a remake, not even an original IP). If my memory serves me correctly, back when TLoU dropped in 2013, a game hadn’t received a 10/10 for some time.. I didn’t even watch IGN’s review. I just saw zombie apocalypse and 10/10 and was immediately sold. I had no idea what I was in for. In terms of world design, gameplay, character progression and storyline, this game made so many innovations. I was enthralled in this world from start to finish and the ending still gets my mind racing and haunts me to this day. The scope of the world and how fleshed out the virus is, the growth between Joel and Ellie, the themes touched on.. only time will tell, but I believe this game will age remarkably. I’m currently playing through TLoU Part 2 for the second time since it launched. I wanted to give it another shot because it didn’t leave the best impression on me the first time I played it. Not much as changed in that regard :( The world and gameplay are incredible imo, but they just butchered the story so bad.. I still can’t believe the treatment Joel received or that we have to play as the hulk for 10+ hours. They go to great lengths to humanize her and make you forgive. I just can’t though. That being said, I’m still enjoying my playthrough. As in, I enjoy exploring the world and fighting enemies… but I can’t get behind the narrative Naughty Dog was going for. It’s a damn shame that TLoU2 is canon and etched in stone. This series is still special though. And listening to this music brings a flood of memories from a simpler time.
People ask me what my favourite game is and The Last of Us always comes to mind. It’s the first game I think of when someone asks that question. There is something so special about this game. The characters, story, atmosphere, music all make this game an experience. This game isn’t just a game, when I think of TLoU, I don’t just think of gameplay, I think about how this impacted me emotionally and mentally. It’s a heartbreaking game, truly, but it’s also a beautiful game. The relationship of Joel and Ellie is so real, it’s so human, so beautiful and in a way so damaged. I can’t possibly thank the people behind this game and Naughty Dog enough. This game did something remarkable and for me I don’t think any other game will do what Last of Us did for me.

I played both games while tripping, it did something weird where it engrained it into my mind in a way i cant explain. Its like when I play it in a dark room, or hear this music, i go right back to that moment, with the same emotions, and feel like im tripping again. I can't explain it, maybe someone will understand.
😢
I just want to meet a girl that connects with my soul as deeply as this music does.
That's ambitious, man.
Yeah, haven't met a guy who understands just how good this game is aside from the horror factor.
me too man... me too...
@@Tater_Toot The horror factor is one of the important one to feel it. Besides, I made a connection with such a girl, damn I can't get enough of her, the longer we don't meet the longer I long to meet her.
Just imagine staying up all night with your girlfriend and playing the last of us together
Playing this as a background while watching the news for coronavirus makes me feel more badass
Being in quarantine + playing the last of us = feels like I'm in the game
chris mau dont worry, everything will be ok
Hehe my man, your comment is meaninful
I started playing TLOU just recently and I gotta say, oh just adds to the wonder of what our world will become during and after coronavirus.

The first and only video game that ever made me cry!
The feeling of the soundtrack and story of the game is breathtaking
The year is 2013, a game released by the same people who made Uncharted comes out. I couldn't get it at the time and I had no idea what it could've been about, so I move on. Years pass and I notice a game on a shelf: "The Last of Us: REMASTERED". It's on sale and I got spare cash so I say why not. So I boot up the game and.. Man.. Some games you just wanna experience all over again. Years pass once more, a second game is announced. Everyone is hyped, excited, hopeful. The time comes, July, 2020, what seems to be the worst year of the century maybe can be a little better. So I boot up the game.. And I finish it.. And it made me think.. I loved it. It wasn't what I expected, nor what I wanted.. But what I needed. The game made me think like no other game has ever before. So I resort yo youtube and.. Well everyone hated it. So I find some reasonable and some unreasonable points. Then I realize.. We as a player aren't just controlling Ellie, we are Ellie. We were so angry in what had happened to us that we failed to do anything other than want revenge, or to get our money back, or to get our time back, or at the very least to kill Abby. But we don't cause that's just what the game isn't about. To most, the game's about revenge and forgiveness and love and hate and such, to me, it's the lengths you'll go to to find peace within yourself. Abby thinks killing Joel will make her find peace within herself by avenging her father, but it doesn't. Instead she gets her peace of mind through loving and caring for Lev. We as a player know that Ellie can't and won't find peace through killing Abby, and she learns this when she's drowning her and finally sees a flashback of Joel, not beaten to a pulp, but alive and healthy. Same as how Abby, when she saved Lev she didn't see her father dead in her dream but alive and healthy too. I don't think these people forgive each other, but they finally found the strength to move on. They, in the dark, found the perseverence to go and fetch the light. Kinda like how a moth does. And hey, the final shot of the game is a moth on the guitar with Ellie walking away into the light. I could honestly talk about this game for hours and I really hope more people will feel the same way I did when I finished it. I understand peoples opinions but I really do hope. Just like every character in the game does, they hope they can move on and find the good moments that are just so beautiful. EDIT: Wow, been a year since I wrote this and I really went off huh. I am gonna say right here and now that I still believe in what I wrote but I do feel as if TLOU 2 robbed a lot of other masterpieces awards at the Game Awards, which sucks, I'll admit.
Didn’t you take half of this from that one you tuber? Still I’m with you. You explained everything perfectly
@@user-dg7iz5cy4k I took some of it but placed it with my own words basically,it's a good review but point still stands nonetheless.

I got the remastered version of this game with my PS4 one Christmas. I was so excited to play it but could never get through it. (Mainly because my PS4 came with spider man and that game had me hooked). But just a week ago I bought the "Remake" of the first game, The Last Of Us Part 1 for PS5 and played it and absolutely fell in love. I already knew what the story was like since I watched a few videos and the HBO show itself, but still was in love with it. As a huge fan of the Uncharted series, I never realized how similar the games were, while being so different at the same time. I finished the game in about 2 days and am now about to replay it with the unlockable cheats that you unlock when finishing the game. I haven't played part 2 but know the story and am debating whether or not to buy it now or wait for the PS5 remaster. This game has now taken the spot for my number one favorite game of all time.
I played Tlou 1 four times and every time I played it again I found out more about this game. It was such a huge impact to my life. It’s just a masterpiece, created by geniuses. I haven’t played Tlou 2, but I’ve watched it. It’s just sad that the Tlou community waited so long to see Joel ending. I always come back to this music to think about the times of Joel and Ellie working and having fun together. 😔
Ye- Joel's death was very emotional for me as a young child TvT I umm- ye- I play Tlou 2, I'm underage but I play it. It's a great game!!! It's amazing to watch but it's not as good as playing it TvT I recommend 100%
I don’t think anyone was mad because Joel died; I think we all expected it after Joel did a huge decision. The way he was killed was just disrespectful, the writing that supposedly took 7 years is plainly lazy. The way the changed the cautious dead serious scary survivor Joel into one that’s really dumb to literally walk into an armed group and give his name.
Mozart spitting fax 📠🤙

Bro that’s the same reason for me but I played it and cried for almost a hour
25:39 is the best version of The Path I've ever heard. Simply Beautiful. Aaaaaaaand now I want to play The Last of Us again.
True. It's like an elegant orchestral version 💓

I'm still fairly young, I rediscovered this game about two years ago. I remember sitting in my older brother's room, watching him play this game. At 7 years, though he told me to close my eyes I didn't even flinch at all the violence, I thought it was such a beautiful masterpiece and it made me feel calm and relaxed. Bringing me to a place I've never known before, eventually It became forgotten as I went off and continued watching all the Barbie movies as I did at 7. Around five years later Im scrolling through youtube, and I come across a video called The Last Of Us Playthrough, intrigued by the thumbnail I click on it. First few minutes struck me and boy was I in tears, now at Sarah's death i'm already definitely invested in this playthrough aha. Then moment by moment, memories rush back to me. Not of the storyline, but that familiar peaceful feeling of the game. Which is one of the main reasons I rewatch playthroughs often. Everything about this masterpiece intrigued me, from the game's scenery, the storyline and to the music. God even ellie's silent movement when she's sneaking around clickers, the whole game is fucking beautiful. This game has changed my perspective on life, even at fourteen. As a young aspiring actress I look up to Troy baker (who plays Joel) as he has become one of my idols and Im hoping to meet him at a convention later this year. I think about the characters very often. Because they're not only characters, they're ghosts in a story.

The ambience in the picture makes me re-think about life.
Gives me chills every time I play it. You can feel the pain in the music. Whoever wrote it, is a genius
I wish nothing of The Last of Us existed aside from this first game. The second game seemingly had a major tonal shift, and though the show is decently produced, it doesn't evoke the same feelings.

The second game is a dissapointment like how tf did joel trust some kids lol i feel bad for joel because his writtint in 2 is ass except the museum flashback now that is the best part of the game

@@daltonsmith88 don’t be silly. Part 2 was garbage in comparison to the original. Seems as though millennials and SJW’s loved part 2 for its ‘woke’ narrative. The original battered part 2 on so many levels.
@@DaKewlDood It didn't have a "woke" narrative. It had some diverse characters that were actually done well. What ruined it was the terrible pacing and general story telling.
The way Gustavo forces the listener to sit with each note as it rings out and fades. Just creates pure tranquility
given how late i am to discovering this game, and the fact im one small person to the huge amount of people seeing this video, i doubt anyones gonna see this, but i just wanted to share. i wanted to play tlou long before the show was released, but i never got around to it. i finally did. finished watching gameplays within 3 days, ive never cried so much over just a game. shows maybe, yeah, but this was different. i think it was joel and ellies relationship, hearing joel call ellie “baby girl” like she was his kid. it reminded me of my dad and me. hes still alive ofc, but i havent seen him in years and probably wont be able to for many many more to come. then when we see joel playing guitar, it reminded me of him even more. i remembered all the times my dad stayed up late, just me and him, him just strumming his guitar while i fell asleep or laid next to him. this game and its music is so comforting and yet brings out so many emotions, its so beautiful. im so glad to finally have something that gives me that special kind of comfort my dad did, even though it makes me sob uncontrollably (not overreacting) every time i start hearing it. this turned out to be more than i expected, whoopsies. thank you naughtydog for this incredible masterpiece of a game
This was a very great game
I took didn't start playing till the show was announced but when I heard about it and decided to play the game before the first episode came out
