Hey guys its The Original #1 Scrap Metal Melter BigStackD here, How are you all? . Now today i go for a drive and find a great piece in the Scrap Metal Bin so why not take it home and Melt It down. over 5kgs added to the shelves today which was great. Dont forget to check out last weeks giveaway video as theres only 1 week left to enter. Today Merch is now available and for an additional %10 off use code HEATWAVE (offer expires 5th July). Now I’m not going to push it like some channels , it’s there to find on your own free will. I will mention it soon but not throw it in your face in every video like a lot of channels do, but if you don’t want the Merch but still want to support the channel Simply donate some of your time to help support the channel just by allowing the ads to play through this will help out a lot and that’s how I make a bit extra revenue and the good thing is more revenue means more giveaways👊🏻😄. A better way to support the channel is play one of my playlists on your computer before you walk away from it and let it play through that really helps as well but don’t ever feel as though you need to watch the ads if you don’t want to simply skip them and move into the video it’s completely up to you and I understand if you don’t have the time to do so👌🏻and like I always say if you like the rings shown and used in this video be sure to check out the description where you can get 20% off the already discounted rings using my code and if you want to try your hand at melting yourself you can buy the burner on its own or the whole furnace set up and I can organize a 5% link for you off the total furnace price just email me on bigstackddddd@mail.com 😁👍🏻.

HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it??????.

  • Morning (1:33am) BigD, good to see the boys and the double screen images, an interesting change and much better to see the hot block melt into the ice. I have no idea why I like watching it, just like seeing the molten stuff poured into the moulds. You are also the 1st scrap metal melter I ever watched and the others have nothing in comparison, you are the dogs bollox of the melt. At 5:55, liked the white sleeve control tube slide, neat idea, also really liked your hammer drill set-up, to remove cement render off my clients houses I use a 5kg Bosch hammer drill and it's like a hot knife through butter taking the render off to expose the background and seeing as your SCA gizmo was held in one hand it would mean less arm muscle ache. I thought my garden was small but yours is like a postage stamp, and is that AstroTurf I see before me? What about taking over a wall and putting your metal collection out there, I'm sure the Mrs won't mind and nobody would steal it as you have 2 guard dogs. I visit many clients homes looking at jobs and at one place it was the 1st time I'd ever seen AstroTurf instead of grass, the client said it was easier to clean up her 3 Chihuahua's doo doo's. For an even bigger space you could dig down and make an underground home, it would be cool on many levels and the dogs would more space to run around in and you might even find Opal. You can't detect the stuff, it's compressed water and you could be a cigarette papers thickness away from a parcel of Opal and not know it. Here in England the Crown usually owns everything below the surface of your land, you only own the top metre I think.

    @petergambier@petergambier2 жыл бұрын
    • Gday Pete👋🏻, yes I think I’ll be using the hammer drill a lot more as it does seem a hell of a lot easier and quicker. I’ve had that sitting in my cupboard for years and never really worried about using it as it used to be quite therapeutic ripping apart transformers and stators with manual tools and a bit of elbow grease. Yes it’s all fake plastic grass I have mate, the reason I replaced my existing grass was because of where my house is situated I get full sun from sun up to sundown as the house is facing north so there is no shade to be had for the morning or afternoon for my front or back grass and it was costing an absolute fortune in water just to keep it a little bit green so I dug it up and gave it to my friend who still has it to this day and I put in plastic grass in front and back and that has saved me thousands of dollars and probably hundreds of thousands of litres of water over the last 12 years 👌🏻. And yes it’s a lot easier to clean up after the dog and if you park your car on it and it leaks oil you can just use some degreaser and wash it in. When I built the house I really wanted to put in a basement as they’re practically non-existent in Australia but my wife talk me out of it and I don’t know why I let it go so easily. And I love having tiny gardens as that means it’s basically zero maintenance and it gives me more time with my kids and dogs and furnaces 👍🏻

      @bigstackD@bigstackD2 жыл бұрын
    • @@bigstackD, Fair shout Big D I fully understand completely, I only do lawn maintenance and vehicle care at my place and used some plastic lime tub lids to make eyelashes for my lady & our elder daughters cars. You should do what you wanted, a basement area for yourself and the mutt's. You can tell your lady that it'll definitely add value to the home especially if you lime plastered the walls and done some pargetting (designs in mortar) and I'll help you with the rendering work if you want, you'll only have to pay my airfare over and I guess because of covid I'd have to quarantine as I'm from the UK and we have the exciting and nasty Indian variant of covid-19. My end of our garden has my scaffolding, hessian sacking, firewood, stone carving area and tubs of lime putty mortar aging nicely for clients jobs. I even have 2 tubs left with lime putty from 2001. The Romans kept their lime 4 years to mature before they used it, our chalk lime is different but has the same chemistry and action but the difference is that they have Tuff, a volcanic rock which is lightweight, strong and the reason they were able to build the Pantheon, the oldest roofed structure in the world. The other end is my wife and daughters with our vegetable garden and 3 bay, slate lined compost bays with I turn over every 4 to 6 months. The turkeys and ducks live in the rest of the space, any doo doo's are collected and put in the compost along with the grass clippings and from one end to the other is our septic tank system, all the solid waste is collected every year by a honey-wagon. During this pandemic, my family, our garden and animals have been a great respite from the madness in the world plus, apart from 2 weeks confinement at home when I had covid I haven't stopped working.

  • We have 8 cats & 1 dog. All rescue animals. I have a cat that lays like that little guy on the right at 5:27... We named him Cozmo or Coz for short. Ate breakfast this a.m. while watching BigStack smash and melt chit. At least Bullion tore all that paper up in his bed, instead of all over the house ... ;) Day is starting off great !

  • Hole in crucible made me think of something that might be cool to do in one of your future melts. When a number 6 crucible bigger or smaller has reached it's "worktime" isn't it possible to do a copper melt with it but fill it all the way up as much as possible and let it get hardened inside the crucible. When cooled down on huge ice brick or inside huge ice bucket break/chip off the crucible. No sanding nor spit shining just metal brushing it clean from left over crucible micro parts. Bottom is top and top is bottom so in this crucible formed copper the bottom is the top that you use and leave like that and the top is bottom you can grind until it's like level enough for to put it on a shelf.

  • For something more fun to teardown ("real precious metals") look out for contractors and big relays. Usually they have silver contact points. In a single 3 phase contractor I found 12 gram of silver. Haven't got a good place to regularly find them so I've not yet bothered melting the pieces into a bar but I have separated them from the copper using a blow torch.
