My guess is probably north of £4k inc all those new parts and wotnot, they stopped doing the reinforcements for a while as it's so involved and they were only charging for about half the hours, it's all on their site; I believe they were charging £2.5k for them but might be wrong. I guess it's difficult for them, this is what they're known for, they could charge £70 or £80 an hour for dropping oil and doing routine stuff but choose to do hard involved jobs for a lot less. You can feel the passion in his narration, a real sense of pride in his work! Incredible workmanship and as soon as you see the vids you can see why their reinforcements cost so much more than some other providers.

An amazing restoration and very detailed commentary. I wonder what this cost, I would assume £6k. Considering this is only a 330Ci, I hope the exterior of the car matches the condition of the underside. The MOT man will have a heart attack... I get the whole sentiment thing as I’m just as fastidious with my cars regardless of money spent, so good on you for doing this on your prized possession! Same it’s not an M3 though, but 330Ci’s are still great great cars

@Zombie Head right, I mean you can do nothing and pile up cash and wait for retirement or something but isn't that boring AF? I also enjoy working on cars and keeping my E46 M3 perfect. It's a hobby, something I can afford and am willing to pay for to enjoy... some people like playing golf, I like getting my hands dirty working on cars. When I get retired I might no longer be able to crawl underneath my car. My friend thinks it's absurd that I own a car and it's sitting in my garage as I drive my DD to work but then I ask him : where are your golf clubs? It's just a matter of perspective :)

@FishFind30005 жыл бұрын
As owner of a 160k 1999 328i in Pennsylvania they are pretty rust resistant apart from the side jacking points. Those are a mess. They get strained and break or water and grit gets under the rubber jack point boots and rusts away the body. After patching up the rocker panel outer skin and fixing the jack point point sheet metal, I filled in the hole for the rubber jack point, leave them off and attach them with industrial velcro when needed. Seems to work well so far.

Wow... beautiful work... and one lot of it. I have been working on exactly this on a P38 Range Rover 2001 Holland & Holland. Not complete yet. So far without exhaust system, new wheel bearings, new brake speed sensors, and new ride hight sensors, it has been $7,000.00 in parts, and a lot of work. Replacing all brakes, joints, bushings, bolts, and some heat shields need to be remade in stainless for durability. Will make new stainless exhaust, and weld the new fabricated stainless heat shields to the exhaust! Disassembly to this stage... was a really the hardest part due to various frozen fasteners and parts. Be ready to use lots of penetrating oil, heat from propane or MAP gas torch, and a bottle of CO2. You might also damage some wire connectors that have become brittle, which will then need to be replaced and installed into the wiring. You will likely replace all the plastic mounts for the various lines and wires... for the same reason. The Heat and CO2 freezing are the only way to unstick some metal parts... this cracks the corrosion or the thread sealants used. We opted to remove all the undercoating, paint and primer from the entire underside, a brutal job with wire brushes to bright clean, so to get into all the nocks and crannies. Ladder frame we use the 3M Strip and Disks, as well as for heavier parts but sheet metal you have to wire brush and or use finer #M cleaning disks. This involved raising the body 4" to 6" with it higher at the back. The cost for wire brushes and the disks has exceed $400.00. We found using a heavy duty low speed straight grinder like the Makita at 5600 rpm works better than like a Fein at 10,000 rpm... burned up a Fein. Doing it outside below 30 degrees F works best do to the undercoat being brittle, and melting less. But this rules out the use of pneumatic tools due to freezing after 3-5 minutes of use, and we have refrigerated moisture removal air supply, work well in shop. Also, note below freezing you don't have to worry about surface rust reforming, even with lots of cold rainy days. Cleaning differentials is basically about 6-8 hr. job each. The suspension parts etc add up time in a hurry. Painting takes more time as etching, phosphate pre-coating, drying, painting with three coats of KBS coatings Rust Seal followed by one or two of KBS Top Coat is time consuming... worse that must be done without exceeding time between coats, to prevent scuff sanding too. Use the KBS Crystal Clear coat on the aluminum parts after wire brushing, etch and phosphate treatment. It is really true the plastic shield help, behind them little if any other than cleaning dirt. However, the front tires kick up a lot of rain, snow and de-icer so anything that touches gets sand blasted and rusty. We found the rubber over-molds with steel inserts to be junk, things like mud flaps... steel roots out... don't use... opt for even the Chinese plastic substitutes hold up better. Biggest surprise has been the fuel tank opening cover the sheet metal retainer was almost totally eaten away with rust despite protected position. Getting rid of the aluminum over hardboard heat shields is important, and it's better to fabricate stainless steel ones that weld onto the exhaust pipes (if Stainless Steel) than attach to body. Biggest surprise, well four besides the fuel tank opening closure, and anything steel overloaded in rubber junk: a) bumpers held on with very weak and corrosion prone attachments, b) finding the speed sensors for the brakes absolutely frozen in bronze bushed mounts to the axle housings, c) the absolute junk fragile heat shields made of fiberboard covered with basically dimpled aluminum foil... falling apart, and d) plastic fuel and air suspension lines... can live with plastic air suspension lines but the fuel lines must be metal preferably stainless steel or Aeroquip 601 aircraft crashworthy spec hoses.

Simple, the e46 chassis in stock 330 guise doesn't need any. BMW should be ashamed of themselves for building a chassis that's drastically slower than what they knew way ahead of time was going to get installed, the s54. They know the rules but obviously due to cost cutting measures ignored them. Always, always and always design an appropriate chassis that's faster/stonger than the engine, period.

I just discovered this channel. This was the most detailed restoration I've seen!!!! Wow. Subscribed
That is incredible work! Have 330ci that would love to have this treatment!
I have pretty much no intention of buying a BMW but this came up as autoplay and I just let it run. Hats off to you mate, we should all aspire to be at this level of planning and execution.
I would die to have that done to my 04 330ci.... great work bud cheers!
Then, you will not be able to drive it! LOL.....Better say: I would give away one kidney, 2 toes, the left small finger and 1.13 gallon of my blood to have that done to my E46....You will then recover and be able to drive/enjoy it! Cheers!
Say what you want about the value of investment, but I have been to the 10 biggest and best art museums in NYC and I didn't see ANYTHING as pretty or interesting as this. To me, this is beautiful art. 😍👍

Hi, fantastic job! What kind of "olive green" coating did u use for the bothem? 👍🏻
thi guys does some proper work, god damn man wish my local mechanics were as good :(
J C, if you're here in the States I don't think there's a single shop here that can do what these guys do. You'll more than likely have to take your car to two or three different shops to match these guys but definitely not get EVERYTHING knocked-out under one roof...
Absolutely unbelievable attention to detail! Amazing!
Wow. Amazing job! Will keep this in my mind if I ever get the M3 CSL weekend car...
This is treating my ocd well
Same here brother!
I was amazed how clear the music came through wearing headphones. You must have a killer sound system in that garage! Great taste in music too.
Beautifiul work. There are so many videos of people doing crap rebuilding, it is nice to see some people with pride in their work putting it on display. Thank you.

This video fits my attention to detail . Watching this was so satisfying .I love how you take brackets off their spot welds and clean behind them , ! also like por15 , it is a great product for rust. I use it a lot on my projects . Powder coat looks great as well. Very nice work . Impressive !

I cant see there being much change from £10k.
He says near the end It's easily 5k to 7k for the parts alone, so I guess with labour about 10k

The attention to detail here is really extraordinary! Your passion for BMWs is clear to behold. What’s the cost of a restoration like this and timeframe (days off the road) to get it all done? Thanks!
Great job on every aspect of this rebuild and many years of enjoyment to the owner.

Hello! Magnificent job! I am trying something like this at home. My question is what kind of welding machine/technique did you use to weld back the fuel tank holder brackets? These must hold the fully filled (~60 litres) tank. Thx
This is unbelievable absolutely incredible work real engineering at force!
Sounds like you've got a good taste in cars AND in music.

I just bought a 2004 E46 convertible zhp.i have to replace the suspension and I have no clue where to start . I wish you were in Atlanta GA..you did an amazing job..it looked perfect
I believe this is a zhp so although not a m3 is actually a bit more rare
I'd say that's almost 6k in parts alone.
Would love to do this on my 325ci. Us 46 enthusiasts know it's not about the resell value, it's about enjoying the car for as long as possible, still would be interesting to know roughly how much this cost the owner though.
Exactly. Nicely put. If I can get this done to my 325i I'm going for it.
I would love to do it to my e46 myself but i'm sure you need a lot of special tools and stuff
Absolutely 👍
And I were you, I'd stop wasting my money on an endless money pit like a BMW and get something that is rock solid and reliable.
Nice job.. all this can be an easy D.I.Y ..
That guy made a good choice restoring the E46 😍 good job

10k restoring it back to new vs 20-60k on a new car
Love listening to your accent. You're vocabulary is very polished. I absolutely adore the attention to detail. Too often the underbody of a car goes overlooked. #underbodies need love too....
Amazing work! Can you tell me what sort brand of primer works the best, do you remove the whole undersealing and then prime and paint it, or just on the rusted sections?
Holy crap thats good looking work! Wish i could bring my E34 there but you guys are a tad far away im afraid.
I assume this cost more than the car was worth. But it sure turned out nice
Doesn't matter since the car will not be for sale ;)
More than the car was worth. Maybe not more than it is worth now, though.
M Musashi i hate when people say that, if i had a car thats worth 3grand i would rather spend $20 to make it my own then buy one for $23, its all in what the goal is, not everyone takes out loans from a bank, cheaper to use cash no interest in the long run.
This is probably nothing compared to those who rebuild hot rods.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful work. People talking about how much it costs. If you love the car, it's worth whatever it cost. This is high quality craftsmanship. Good on Redish Automotive, better on the owner.
❤ur attention to detail😉 great job hope the customer was happy! I am gonna have to do this to my e46 someday 🤑 prob not this crazy wow! Man I've learned somethings thx love the idea of greese and the wax ! Proper Job mate
Would love to know and feel what it drives like. Amazing work
lol id like to see you restore my 2000 323i. it has 250k miles or 402k km... and its always lived in the rust belt. the body is rusting away now. id wonder how bad the undercarriage is.
Nice work 👌I’ve got one of these 2001 love it be nice to be able to get to that standard
Wondering if you can share the paint prep and brand for diff housing, diff axles, exhaust. Also the wax to protect the paint. Thanks
I feel sorry for anyone who will be inspecting this vehicle at the MOT Center after they get under a vehicle.. get a spare panties😭😭😭
e30_lad_ireland I’ve got a b5 a4 with 188k Miles on it, replaced every front suspension arm, both track rod ends, drop links, and top mounts with meyle HD stuff, and fitted new bilstein shocks and eibach springs all round. The mot guy spent so long trying to find something.. anything to fail it on, but he gave up. He said when he saw the year and the previous MoT’s mileage he was like ‘oh god here we go’ but then he was shocked at how solid it was mechanically.
Johnathan Doe that’s a cool story mate and poor inspector lol. This is something I’d love to do as well on my coupe e-fourthy six.. one day :)
@Stefan Lazic And that's why that guy is the inspector and you are never going to be.
Take this to a MOT centre and you'd be assured that they wouldn't try and get away with anything, being fairly certain that someones been under it recently.

Wow... beautiful work... and one lot of it.
Loving your work. Big fan 😎

Really great job!!! Respect!!!
Still one old nut unchanged ... you. Amazing job on an amazing car.
Why didn't you guys do rear sub frame reinforcement
Simple, the e46 chassis in stock 330 guise doesn't need any. BMW should be ashamed of themselves for building a chassis that's drastically slower than what they knew way ahead of time was going to get installed, the s54. They know the rules but obviously due to cost cutting measures ignored them. Always, always and always design an appropriate chassis that's faster/stonger than the engine, period.
Perfect as allways! ;)
wow amazing Job !!! congrats !!!! how many man/hours ? parts ? it must have cost a fortune?
Would sand blasting be a good alternative to the wire wheels and angle grinders?
How much would it be? I wish I had the money for do that in my e46 m3

only for the parts maybe...
How much is that in USD?

Be the best part of 10k at a garage in uk pounds. But if you do it yourself about 5k. The problem is its a very slow process and very awkward on your back if you dont have a 4 post lift. I have just spent 12 months doing my Mitsubhishi Evo. It was a ton of work but looks awesome in the end. I updated a lot of my components so mine ran me into 10k.
Interesting. I did almost the same thing on my 2002 325xi. Didn't have time to manage the heat shield or the exhaust, which was still in very good condition but I did pull the subframe and brackets and powder coated them while changing all the bushings, bearings and seals. Chose the nearly the same colors as you. Except the subframe...which was a metallic blue.
