The new Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro keyboard is actually INSANE & caught me by surprise. While I'm not a fan of full-sized keyboard, this thing has a butt-ton of features. Check it all out in my review!

"Tighter is always better than loose" I hear you brother
Your videos are just full of quality. I love them!
Bro I need help, I have a question, the hot key to change rgb for this keyboard is fn+ctrl+theNumber, but when I download the synapse its not working anymore, is it the same with you?
It seems the keyboard industry is 2 steps forward and 2 steps back. i remember having a keyboard with all that 10-15 years ago.
And it's as useless as a decade ago
@@crumpledmint If it was useless and no one wanted it (and not enough people bought them), then they would't keep making them like this. They clearly sell well enough
@@oatmilk9918 if something is selling well enough doesn't mean it's useful or doesn't have better alternatives
@@crumpledmint That's fair, but if the features were useless then the companies wouldn't keep making them a large part of the product. It would be cheaper to not have macro keys and knobs, but enough people buy boards with them so there is a market there. Gaming brands started removing dedicated macro keys, but there are people who want them back
@@crumpledmint well sad
that scroll wheel for right handed users would be really useful for photoshop/ digital canvases - you can keep your left hand on the keyboard and your right hand on the tablet
this wheel is one of reasons why digital artists buying dedicated keypads
Can you set the dial to handle the volume instead of the roller , i hate adjusting volume on the leviathan v2 and am currently adjusting it via huntsman elite
I just picked this up today after I snapped a switch on my huntsman analog. My best buy only had the clicky green which i'm not a massive fan of, but it feels pleasant to type on and i don't hate it so far.. and what you said about the aviator cables is wrong - I plugged mine in to this keyboard when you had mentioned it in the video and it works fine!
I'm trying to find a keeb that will let me assign constant color of each key, for instance "F" keys all white, nuumber keys all red, letter keys all green and so on. I have GMMK Glorious Full Size and Corsaie K60 RGB Pro. I don't think they can do that. Not 100% sure since neither mfr can bother to include instructions on how to set the keyboard.
I need a numpad for work, I can’t stress enough how I hate making excel spreadsheets without one. I would love for you to make a FS keyboards of 2023 list!
I need a numpad so I appreciate you covering keyboards with those. I work from home using my gaming keyboards and I deal with numbers all day. I really want to pick this up. I might just do it
You can buy separate numpad and better keyboard for this price
@@crumpledmint .....then why would you want to buy a seperate numpad lol...beats the purpose and logic
I do make full use of the numpad for key assignment in FPS games eg, Inventory up/down, Lean left/right, switch grenade types etc. I know its strange but all my life I have never used WSAD for direction but used the arrow keys instead lol. So the numpad next to it is very important to me which is why I have never bought a TKL keyboard before lol.
as a person who transferred from a 60% to this, it is REALLY hard to adjust since my pinky is used to rest on the farthest left button which used to be the CTRL but with the blackwidow v4 its the M1 button so the whole keyboard is off to me and it takes a while to adjust
How is this VS the Huntsman Elite that zaps me everytime lol?
Between the green clicky, yellow linear and orange tactile, the only one that doesn't sound cheap imo are the orange tactile. I got them in my V4 75% and I love them
I use the yellow keys for gaming and I think they are the best
Is there a double click issue?
@@Puss1man not at all, very smooth for typing and extremely fast with gaming.
love the vids bro
I need this with the orange switches
Great review!
No onboard memory? How can we use it at work
Hello there, may you please make a video review to ROG Azoth review?
What’s the material on the wrist rest? Is it something that’s going to crack/peel overtime?
its prob inclinced to take damage over time, however ive had mine for months and use it daily. 0 wear and tear visible.
Thank you for the video
"tighter's always better than loose" that's what she said XD. Awesome keyboard btw
8:42 i was wondering what that sound was lol. first time catching someone's phone going off mid video and playing it off so well
Is the bottom row standard?
how well does it work on android devices and ipad?
Definitely adding this to my setup, especially after the flop of blackwidow v3 pro, with no macro keys and non-magnetic wrist rest (even tho my old v2 was magnetic, how can razer call it "pro"?🤔🤔🤔). Honestly, the only thing that I will miss are the orange switches, which unfortunately aren't a feature anymore, so I'll go for the yellow ones. Other than that, v4 pro seems to be the upgrade v2 deserved and didn't get with the v3 series.
Still rocking my blackwidow chroma V2, I absolutely love this thing it still works perfectly fine but I wish it had the media type keys for volume and shit.
you know whats more crazy? huntsman v2 had 8k Hz but huntsman 3 only has 1k
I have an old blackwidow chroma that has one cord for the kb, USB pass-through, and 3.5mm pass-through. Though it splits into 3 to plug into the computer.
i have the 2013 blackwidow and it does that too. one cable turns into four. I'm looking for an upgrade and this looks really nice but mine still looks and feels great. I don't know if I need to spend the money
@@Faustustopheles Same situation, Got the 2013 blackwidow chroma too, all keys and rgb working. Thinking if I should upgrade on this one.
I think maybe someone is forgetting about the keyboard with 18 key macro keys......the legend CORSAIR Gaming K95.
Seems Razer went all out with this KB 😅 in a good way of course. And for the 2 USB cables - remember the THICC cable of the Corsair K70 and such? so guess what, that's actually 2 USB cables sleeved in one! (one for the KB and one for passthrough), with a small connector for each terminal at the end (the one used in wired mice usually). I actually modded mine with 2 type-C connectors so I plug 2 cables just like this one, but placed them one over the other so the top cable (coiled and sleeved) is hiding the bottom one 😁
Does it have a detachable usb cable?
According to past experience, the muscle memory of switching back and forth with extra keys on the left hand is very tiring.
i dont like the clicky sounding switches what would you recommend
The RGB seems brighter compared to the huntsman elite , can someone confirm this
i love that i can now spam medic 8x faster then before! now i can get healed 6 health before dying 8X FASTER! thank you razer
will the wrist rest peel over time? - thinking to upgrade to this from my v2
I just picked up a V4 today. my v2 wrist rest started to peel. I can say the coating on this wrist rest initially seems more durable.
absolutely *need* the number pad. i hate not having it.
Man I wish Razer brought back the orange switches. If this came with orange switches, well my money would be gone.
I love my drop control, omg I need a keypad. I'm an old school 10-key guy. I wish Drop would make one with a 10key that wasn't some compressed layout. I absolutely hate using a separate 10key, but I have to with my drop control.
OMG this keyboard is so EPIC!!!!!! If I was to go back to a full size keyboard, I would go with this one!
I just bought the keyboard and I literally just braided the the two cables together not a big deal at all on my desk
I bet they just made the actuation distance a bit shorter, and that's what you're feeling not the 8k polling rate. I'd like to see a double blind test.
So... The Corsair k95 with an extra knob on the left?
And reliable firmware
"Tighter is better than loose" Damn Right
So I just bought the Hunstman V2 Analog and was wondering if I should return it and get this. I got the huntsman for $80 MSRP. but I am okay with paying a bit more for a more versatile and better keyboard for gaming and productivity. Any comments on this would help!
I might be a little late, but if I were you, I'd have returned it for v4 pro. Of course idk what sort of user you are and if you need it, but since you are ok paying the difference I will say a big big yes; return it. Return it YESTERDAY!😂
@Modest Reshiram haha all good, I ended up returning the v2 analog for yhe v4 pro with yellow switches and it was the best decision I could've made 😂 really loving the v4 pro and just got the viper v2 pro as well. But wondering if I should return and get the deathadder v3 pro 🤔
I would get the huntsman v2 purple switch. You need optical switches to take advantage of the 8k polling rate
@@jstarproductions7335 Thanks for your input! I ended up getting the Blackwidow V4 Pro as I prefer the yellow linear switches and it has 8k polling
dont like the full size layouts, and i can use macros on any key with any keyboard with the right software
They don't do it right on their key caps when the words like "shift" are all in lower case.
5:02 💯 Agree 😂
Keep up the great work random frank P
My opinion on extra keys right next the ESC, Shift and Ctrl button is trash.. I get the concept but as a person who experienced using a keyboard that has extra keys on next felt so uncomfortable because usually my pinky finger has to feel the Ctrl & Shift button all time to react immediately. The gap between is small too so you cannot even rest your pinky finger in between those keys. (I got skinny fingers)
I vehemently hate left side macro keys. Always a deal breaker. The way I type I have my pinky touching the left side, so no-go always. Shame I liked the edge lightning.
Bought this Keyboard 5 days ago. Searched my local stores for over a week, couldn't find the Yellow switch anywhere! Decided to order from Amazon on Friday. My Tracking showed it would arrive the very next day, Saturday by 10 p.m! Here I'm sitting, Thursday and tracking is telling me....sorry for the delay, your package will be arriving by the 29th! Well it's the 29th. Get your shit together, Amazon!
Wanted to upgrade my V2 but Razer lost me when they discontinued the Orange switches. So now the choice is Green - type writer or yellow with no tactile feel. No thanks Razer. Orange switches were perfect
Why does razer only Carry the v3 “edit” it’s there it’s just literally not under their keyboards. You have to search for it, weird that they hide it.
I really liked the huntsman elite... Sadly it got soaked with water and now im having a hard time finding one to buy. I am also trying to save the soaked one by cleaning it with purified water and leaving it to dry for two weeks😬
I'm still using the 2019 version of the Razer Blackwidow
I am a fan, really don't get the trend of people wanting a smaller and smaller keyboard and having to rely on the terrible macro all the time vs having programmable dedicated macro keys to begin with. Too bad it's wired otherwise I would have been really interested in this one.
Fn layers are faster to use than dedicated buttons most of the time
@@crumpledmint again , his opinion, you dont have to argue on his opinion. again stfu ignorant retard
@@crumpledmint For sure not if you have spent similar amount of time for both. Clicking two bottom is physically not faster than clicking one bottom
@@e21big clicking 2 buttons is faster than clicking 1 because you don't have to move your arms to do it. Surely touch typing isn't physically faster than regular typing, you can't see keys so you are gonna miss!
@@crumpledmintI don’t like using fn layers. It’s such an inconvenient mechanic for me
What mouse mat is that? The gigantus has a green hue all around it and this doesn't.
Razer strider XXL, I just got one about a week ago, highly recommend.
@@ImRickyIWin I see, thanks for letting me know. I'm gonna pick it up!
AMAZING video, you're my favorite reviewer! ♥
looks dope
Why no Wireless. That's why I chose the ASUS Azoth, which has no need for any software
Time to start saving up
Wonder why they didnt use their Red or Purple Optical switches for this keyboard
Because it would be a huntsman and not a blackwidow
I was a big razer fan but I feel like their software is too intrusive on my overall computer experience. I like a simple software without all the tracking and big data software on my pc.
razer is annoying and very manipulative over my pc, they be spying on us
@@leasingnamhouse4431 Can you elaborate? I'm considering this keyboard, but at $230, it should be about perfect.
Yea but how else can I control all my hue lighting, ASRock motherboard rgb, case rgb, water-cooling rgb. With just simple macro keys
@@leasingnamhouse4431 Dude, everyone is spying on us. Discord is spying on you, Facebook is spying on you, Twitter sells your data, your goverment knows when you took a shit the last time. This keyboard works great for games and work -- command dial wheel works great in excel spreadsheets!
This or Asus Rog Flare 2 Anime?
We had basically this same thing 10 years ago. Revolutionary would be something closer to the everest
The fact that you're listening to Hail Mary Mallon is awesome
the EXTRA usb cable is to provide usb connection to the extra usb connector... how thoughtful.
ok. but does the volume wheel mess up like the other razer keyboards?
is this wireless ?
8:49 - I totally agree. Can't satisfy everyone! Netizens will be netizens.
ABS for that price tag, hmmmm, naw bro....let's see what Corsair brings in.
I was about to say, but you said it. I am eagerly awaiting the new line up corsair has to offer
I think this might replace my Logitech craft keyboard
Deathstalker v2 pro or this?
razer huntsman v2 - linear optical
Ordered mine tonight, told 2 weeks :) but is what it is. Will be much better than my current NPET keyboard (AMEN)
this or huntsman v2 pro
They should put the side buttons on the top
Or just get the Wooting full size?
I like my Corsair K100 but I think I would like this one too. K100 will last me for some time though so no pressure..
hello corsair lover i am using this keyboard currently thats in the video, i wanted to know how the K100 is like, is it good for comfort gaming? is it good for competitive gaming??
@@Night_Modern I really like K100, no I love it. I love how sensitive the buttons are and I love aluminium / metal chassis. The pad is wrest pad is also great. The RGB is amazing. I can customize every single key and I make special profiles for different games I play. It just looks cool. I am super happy with my K100. I like everything about it. How do you find your Razer Blackwidow Vr PRo?
Tighter is better than loose - RandomFrankP 2023
I mean 1000hz is basically 0.001ms intervals so 8K is a gimmick. I'd rather they'd pack it with proper thick PBT keycaps. Nice that they are textured, but it's just not it. Other than that, has useful macros and a nice feeling wrist rest.
Finally, they bring Macro keys back.
5:02 That's what he said xD
Logitech G15. Just somehow came to the back of my mind ;-)
how do gaming boards screw up the stabilizers this bad year after year when even budget boards have proved to have good ones out of the box (pulsar pcmk for example)
Because they keep using cherry stabilizers... Costar stabilizers only need lube and have no mush from all those crappy hole mods and tape mods
@@Hondaddy I had razer blackwidow v2 and they were using costar stabs at the time. It was HORRIBLE. Way worse than any mechanical keyboard I had after it. I am not advocating for cherry stabs cuz they aren't great, but costar isn't any better
Great video! Personally, I can’t use a full size board since I use my left hand for the numpad. If this keyboard has detachable numpad to put it which ever side, I would be more interested in it. I know there are a few boards like that out there but I find a dedicated numpad to be working well.
Keychron Q12 has the regular Numpad on the left side. Very nice for data entry.
@@k_while9497 I was looking at getting one to run for a bit, I currently main the Mountain Everest max and I've been loving it. preferring a left number pad is both a blessing and a curse cause they're few and far between not to mention pricey
The Asus Claymore II fits the bill for what you're after. Keychron Q12 is even better.
❤NUMPAD
Not impressed. I am still using my Corsair K95 with 18 macro keys on the left side, with three modes so it's actually 54 macros. Same media controls. And I got mine in the spring of 2012, so 11 years and counting.
insane price, there is simply no way a keyboard can justify that
Wooting Two HE is less expensive lmao
yes, RAZER products is usually along those lines. What already out there, but at a higher price and with GREEN LOGO
A GOOD keyboard made with high end materials sure. Razer doodoo? Nah
@@crumpledmintits also way cheaper in Quality and has way less Features, so No wonder its way cheaper
@@kthec1298 clueless
It will be macro king when taran approves it
Good keyboard but why no wireless
You said two cables, but I only see one in this video? Would love a wireless version of this. Also personally, a numpad key is definitely required. I could not live without that. Glad to see the macro keys are back. Would love to pay only 230 usd for it, but in my shithole country its the equivalent to 290 usd :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)):):
"You said two cables, but I only see one in this video? Would love a wireless version of this" -- i'm also trying to figure out why they provide two cords.. i have one plugged in and everything works.. not sure why i would need both plugged in
I have the Corsair K100 and a lot of the V4 just seems to be copying what it has. Was hoping to see something more with the V4 considering how long the K100 has been out.
I'm using the k100 right now and in this point you're right. It has everything, what the v4 has as well. But the k100 feels not worthy to me. there is a annoying metallic sound while typing and the stabilizers dont feel solid to me. So now I'm selling it and just bought the v4... Razer never disappointed me so far.
@@Amryen Yeah, that's fair. I have issues with the K100 as well. Unfortunately I am far past the return date so I just deal with it.
Warum leuchten Sonderzeichen auf keiner deutschen Tastatur?
had to send this keyboard back to amazon, the layout is weird in gaming. not a fan of the nub top left (trying to hit esc blind? nope) or the macro keys on the left side. for typing its really nice just not for gaming imo
I swear there was a 75% version, might be better for you.
This vs the Corsair K100?
You can get a full sized wooting he keyboard for under $200. You'd have to be a crazy person to get this keyboard.
It's good for productivity
I actually got my Alien Huntsman V2 Analog for 130 bucks. I just really like Razers switches and they dont sell them seperately. And given that People spend well over 3000 dollars for their custom keyboards sometimes, I dont really think that is too crazy.
