Sure it gives out 555HP and lots of torque when it runs properly, but in 3 years I've practically replaced everything on that engine and parts keep failing. Everything is in triple, and putting those turbos in the hot vee section with all those cheap plastic hoses around that section makes it a disaster in terms or reliability.

For some reason bmw did make the manifold pipes all the same length 😢 and that affects the sound coming out at the exhausts. It doesn’t have the v8 sound. Why? I’m not even sure you can fix/change it due to the space? No idea.

I then realized auxiliary turbo pump stopped working and replaced it. After doing all this, i got reduced power malfunction on full throttle. At this point i sold it. I suspect i needed coils and spark plugs. Worst case scenario injectors. Car had 60,000 miles so it was imminent to change all. Expect paying 1800 for sparks and coils. Injectors over 2,000. I also replaced the rear brake pads since they were due (Original Brembo pads were on special at Canadian Tire 😁 at CAD$90, and I bought the brake sensor wires from Amazon for CAD$16). @GrandSavrify you can get jobber rear air bags for CAD$70 on Amazon: www.amazon.ca/dp/B08FBJWYBZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_i_HY9HP7D0HHXXQ6ZPPRYK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

  • The biggest costs that come from this review include labor. What does BMW charge per hour? $200.00? Then OEM parts as well, which are severely inflated. 1) Price out off brand parts and look at reviews, 2) Do the work yourself

  • @Zeiten LLC what a great video! No hyperbole, no sugar coating, no gloom and doom, just the facts from your many years experience working on BMWs. I've actually been contemplating getting one of these to use for the next few years until the Tesla truck is out for a while and thoroughly vetted. Your video certainly is helping me with my decision. It sounds like if you thoroughly check the car out and budget say $2-3k per year for maintenance (and another $50k for gas :)) this could be a reasonable proposition. Quick question, I have a 1992 850i 6p I am bringing back to life. A great automobile mechanic, body guy and good friend repainted the car a beautiful carbon black. After the repaint the engine bay was carefully steam cleaned, but now when you start the car it only runs for like 1min then bumps up a few hundred rpm and then dies. We checked both distributors but there is no indication water got in there. Replaced the fuel filters, still no luck. He was thinking the timing and cylinder identification sensors but visually they seem fine. His specialty had kind of been American Muscle cars but he is branching out lately and did a great job on a Ferrari and is now working on my 850i. Have you ever seen this, any thoughts???

    • Thank you, well i would look into MAF sensors (mass air flow), as far as I remember those v12 don’t have idle control valve and idle is controlled fully by throttle bodies so cleaning those would be a good idea, if the car was sitting for a while refuel it, old gas deteriorates but it is rare. Look into air leaks and air flow

      @Zeiten@Zeiten3 жыл бұрын
    • @@Zeiten Thank you much! Will check into those things. Also will update with what the problem and fix turn out to be. Keep up the great videos. Perhaps one on the 850 is in the future :). Not much of a market as so few were made, but a wonderful car nonetheless.
