11:23 this deserves boat. My first lego kit was a semi truck (just the front part) and even tho it was just a dumb truck it had some really cool features like flexible tubing to make the smoke stacks. I dont think it matters what car it is as long as you enjoy the build process and find something interesting about it

I 100% agree. Nolan and James said a G.O.A.T. test is something you want, but wouldn’t buy for yourself. For me, the lego set I received is exactly that. My family came together to get me a 991 Porsche GT3 RS technic set for graduating high school. At 17 years old I wasn’t willing to spend $300 on a lego set. But now that I’m about to finish college, when I can actually afford this set, it costs $700 on eBay. So, super glad my fam got it for me, strait G.O.A.T. Also, if anyone is curious a lot of lego sets mad inflate after they retire and grow as much as 30% per year. Cheers

I've lapped round my local track (Sepang International Circuit) 3/4 times on my bike (as in, bicycle) as they occasionally hold events for non-motorsporting activities and hoo baby, that race asphalt is so much smoother than street asphalt! I even stuck a map layout of the track on my bike to be familiar with the layout and a few laps later, I now know every turn and elevation point of the track. I NEED to do the same with a car next! (I don't have a track-capable car tho)

Man, I really think the tools one is somewhere between Dece and Thanks unless they've talked to you about it before hand. It's just really easy to end up with a duplicate of a tool you already own or a tool that isn't the right size, power, etc for what you need. The detail gift though? That's GOAT.

Best car gift I ever got was back in the day when I just got my first car which was a 1998 Nissan Maxima, a friend of mine that I also kind of hustled with called me one day and told me to meet him at our neighborhood tuner/performance shop...when I pulled up he comes walking out with a bunch of boxes, and he had brand new aftermarket tail lights, LED running boards, and a new aftermarket grill. All of it was nice high end stuff that I wanted at the time, except I never really told him specifically what, or that I wanted those things. He just knew I was into the tuner scene (so was he), so he got them for me. Unfortunately years later, that car was destroyed in a street race, with the same guy that got me that stuff sitting in the passenger seat next to me - wasn’t really my fault tho, some guy blew a red light and I T-boned him.
The tools are also good for a car enthusiast who doesn’t have any tools for whatever reason. My dad loves cars and we love working on cars together but he had to borrow some tools. Got him his own set for Christmas. They weren’t to special but he loved it

I was given a non running project car. A 98 dodge stratus. I accepted it graciously because the first car I ever bought was a 97 dodge stratus. Just to make it street worthy, I had to replace the water pump and battery. Still need new tires and a new windshield. But I have started compiling a wish list for the other parts, headlights, body kit, turbo kit for the 2.4L motor. Thanks to Money pit, I have the list I need and advice to start this project. Thank you all for what you do.

@@antonsjoberg Dewalt is considered pretty good, there are definitely more expensive options though. Most contractors I've worked with seem to prefer going with all Dewalt stuff. I've been really surprised with ryobi with a budget.

Real talk, those universal sockets are great! I have one in each car road tool kit and one in my home set. They work on so many sizes, stripped nuts/bolts, weird shapes like hooks and screw eyes, etc. They're not the strongest so don't expect to break any super stuck bolts loose with this, but it will save you in a pinch.

A friend of mine once owned a RHD (in Britain) White De Tomaso Pantera with gold split rim Revolution 5 spoke wheels. I bought a standard model kit of a Tomaso, converted it to RHD made the correct style rear wing and body kit to his old car and machined from brass and aluminium scale correct rims. I am a pretty accomplished model builder and I won't deny I was MEGA proud of my efforts. It looked awesome. He stuffed it on the back of a shelf and within a year the trash. I haven't seen him for over 10 years now.

So my family did get me a that universal socket they work surprisingly well like I thought it would be cheap and just break but I've used it just for some fun and if you ever get in a situation on the road we're you need a socket from size 5-14 it works and it's also nice not having to switch your socket on projects its definitely a thanks and a tool I enjoy having
My family gave my grandfather a project vehicle. He always loved the old 1960's Ford Econoline pickups (the ones that looked like a Scooby Doo Van with the back end chopped). He had one that caught fire and was unsalvageable. The family all chipped in and got him one about 10 years later. It was running, but it was rough. He drove it until he passed away. My father has it now and is restoring it to honor him.

With go-karting, I was gifted this one year and it was honestly amazing. I was never really into go-karting, but my parents gifted me a professional go-kart experience where I got to do laps in a professional level go-cart that could easily travel over 100mph. It was honestly one of the coolest experiences I never thought I needed. Obviously this is subjective because of experience, but I can see how some people wouldn’t want it. I think it’d be different based on what kind of karting experience you gifted. One at like a local track might be fun but also boring, but a professional karting experience may be a surprise to them
I actually think the portable espresso machine would have been a great accessory for high truck, mostly for the camping aspect of it. But for like a normal daily driver commuter vehicle, nah.

I have always dreamt of getting such a gift and dropped more than a few hints to my friends and family but guess noone ever wanted to go into the hussle of finding someone, who would draw it... Had gotten a compact tool kit for christmas this past christmas. Kept it in my tank bag ever since and it finally came in handy after my rear brake master had loosened and was danglin around. Luckily the screws stayed in; torqued that puppy down hard. Now consider it a BOAT.

Sometimes they can be useful. My dad owns a 1968 VW Beetle, and the steering wheel is original, but worn. So the steering wheel hurts to use. Gloves could prevent that.

at a car show, I found an artistic rendering of my car at like a drive in or something. Found a similar drawing of my friends car so bought one for him too. his return gift was a custom made diamond plate frame for the drawing. pretty cool.
I have a horribly crooked spine, driving gocarts(the fast ones, not the kiddie rides) is still worth days of pain, and a chyropractor later. We had some locally that would do 60. One of my best memorys
I don't remember where, when, or why we got them, but whenever I've needed to grab them out of the trunk, I've really appreciated our extra-long jumper cables.

As someone who loves legos (but haven’t gotten my hands on a set in a WHILE) spending a long time in putting together a set that’s then going to be on a shelf makes it worthy of the shelf. If it was a couple pieces and slapped together quickly then it would just feel tacky.. what I love about lego builds that are on a shelf is when you start looking closer and you realize how intricate it is..
I got a Craftsman mechanics 200 piece tool set for graduation. All matter of builds, engine swaps, and maintenance later, it's something i use nearly everyday! Tools=BOAT!

I agree with most of what you guys said but when you rent the car jump start it kind of made me think of a funny time when I asked my parents for one of those for a gift, I wanted a specific nice one that had like lights and USB chargers and a bunch of features and it was because my car consistently would have its battery die, and I would have to wait for someone to come jump start me watch especially when I was working as a driver sucked, and they got me one so I was excited and I've used it like 70 times now to start my car again lol so it's definitely paid for itself

I have a craftsman universal socket and it is literally what I use unless it can't fit in the area or its to tight a bolt it works like a charm

Nonrunning project - DECE for my 1984 Chevrolet C30. At 18 a neighbor gave me her son's truck 8months after he was shot and didn't survive. Engine and everything was still there. Cosmetic it needed (and still needs) TLC. Said she caught someone trying to steal it and said she wiild rather someone fix it than it get stolen. Fuel pump, battery, and alternator later it ran and is still running today with no major issues.
Ok, me working on equipment and vehicles all the time.....the jump pack is a mad gift. Those things are AWESOME
