  • Murray's best ever performance. He was completely in the zone, and nothing that Djokovic could do, as great as he is, was enough. To go from a 4 sets defeat the previous year to beating the World No.1 in straight sets the following year, was quite an achievement. If it wasn't for the severe injuries Murray has had, and long spells of very invasive surgery and recovery, it is easy to see Murray would have chalked up a few more slams

Crowds at Wimbledon are no worse than any other tennis crowd around the world. Even though this final was a few years ago, Novak was already an experienced player and he had learnt how to deal with a crowd that is 100% behind the other guy. It happens in tennis, and other professional sports. I very much doubt it affected him too much. He didn't play his best game, and Murray was superb which is why he won.

    • @@Wally-H that is the biggest croc of s*it I’ve ever heard. The Djokovic vs Federer 2019 Wimbledon final was some of the most disgraceful crowd behaviour I’ve ever seen. Even I was cheering for Federer that match, but the crowd made me switch sides mid match. And Djoker still out clutched Federer. The crowd was unacceptable that day. Cheering after Djokovic misses first serve, roaring while he makes an error, yet a quiet little applause when he has a miraculous shot. The funny thing is Novak is one of the best grass court players ever (5 Wimbledons and potentially more to come) and they still treat him like dirt, even though he hasn’t done much to warrant hatred there.

      @supp1084@supp10844 жыл бұрын
    • @@supp1084 No, he wasn't dominating. He dominated the final 2 months of the season in 2016 after the USO while Djokovic was in his swoon. The only way Murray could get to #1 was for Djokovic to not come close to defending his points, and Murray to run the table and win everything that fall. And that's what wound up happening. And it took Andy winning the ATP World Tour Finals over Djokovic to secure the #1 ranking. But once the new year began with him as #1, he never came close to dominating. When he wasn't injured, he was in poor form. And the only reason he didn't lose #1 sooner was because Djokovic going through his own crisis, and Fed and Rafa were still climbing back up the rankings. The path to getting to #1 is one thing. Staying there is another.

  • Andy Murray played the match of his life to stop the in-form Djokovic. When Djokovic had multiple break points in the 3rd set, Andy made sure he will never say die & that too playing at the torching heat was not an easy task at all. “Incredible” is the only one word which I can think of to describe Andy’s performance in that final. Truly deserving to win the title. Nevertheless, he could have won more & more grand slams like Federer, Nadal & Djokovic.

    • @@Logan00710 Not proven facts at all.Djokovic stated he was absolutely fine physically and Djokovic has won a 5 hr semi final and then a 6 hr final before. Plenty of finals Murray has lost having spent longer on the court in earlier rounds than his opponent. In the Aus Open final each time Murray has had a day less between semi final and final than Djokovic, but no excuses about tiredness from Murray. Murray won fair and square. Federer has also won 5 set semi final and gone onto win the final 5 yrs after 2012 ,so don't tell me he couldn't win a 3 set final and then a final because he was tired. Nothing but excuses. It's the same for all players.
