Rafa might be the youngest to beat Roger.. But Ageless Roger will remain the Oldest to beat Rafa.....
Good point bro

Beautifully summed up, Milon!
That was deep and i never tought about it like that. Rafa the wunderkid and Roger the ageless master, a match made in heaven.

I am very surprised how positive most of these comments are. From a Rafa fan, congrats to Federer for playing an unbelievable match.
Matthew Erskine rafa fans are like rafa himself...very humble & respect everyone
Matthew Erskine I’m a Federer fan but I will always have special love and respect for Rafael Nadal.. ALWAYS. Without a doubt the 2 greatest player of All Time.
Apps Borkar not all unfortunately. I’ve seen quite some that claim they are and just trash talk. Every great player has those range of supposed fans, from the nicest to the nastiest. I personally am a fan of all three, with Rafa at the top for his humbleness and down to earth personality. I love how he always brings up the good qualities of his opponents, and treats all of them as tough, because they generally are. Some people, unfortunately, are blind and like to see these great players as gods and the like, making statements about how dominant they are and such. Anyways, just wanted to point out that not all fans are the same, and that there will always be a range.
ShockWave agreed. Most famous of all r saschin nadal and man bat

It's sad that the most talented and skillful member of the big three will end up third in the Slam race. In my opinion Federer was the best to play this game, but he choked on so many important matches and statistics aren't on his side now. Wimbledon 2019 was his last chance and he knew it. Without a doubt my favourite player.
Nadal is goat now
@@colonelgibbs8357 The GOAT is either Djokovic or Federer. Anyone who says Nadal is ignoring the fact that his slam record is carried by his dominance on clay. He can be the GOAT of clay, but not the GOAT of all tennis imo. His duration as the world #1 is paltry compared to Federer and Djokovic and he's never even won the world tour finals. Nadal isn't the GOAT.
@@ClareAmel Yes, by statistics as of now he is, however that doesn't mean Djokovic won't be able to equalize or surpass him in slams and therefore in the GOAT race in the future. Your assessment that Nadal can't be the GOAT because of his slam tally carried by his dominance on clay is just unfair. He may only be the 3rd best player of the three by statistics when it comes to hard and grass courts, but in direct head 2 head with Federer, Federer only managed to beat Nadal 1 time at AO (2017 final) to Nadal having three wins (2009, 2012, 2014) and the other three times in Wimbledon (2006, 2007, 2019) to Nadal beating him once (2008). So Federer is historically inferior to Nadal at hart court grand slam level as well as on clay of course. Wouldn't there be Djokovic, Nadal would have multiple more grand slams in hard courts to date. The REAL race is and has been going on between Nadal and Djokovic since 2010, with Federer (I am sorry to say that but it's nevertheless true) as the clear-cut 3rd best. It's really not his playing ability that is inferior to Nadal's and Djoko's, it was always the mental aspect where Djokovic and Nadal are just monsters. By the way, Nadal has Olympic gold and the others do not (on a hard court) The biggest weakness Nadal has is indoor hard court which should be considered a liability in the GOAT race, but it's for sure not enough to put Federer above Nadal by any stretch of the imagination.
@@ClareAmel I never could understand this take. It's still tennis. Clay isn't some second class, afterthought surface.
He is champion because he is kind to himself after these huge defeats, even though those are great defeats as he puts it, he acknowledges the wins he should not have gotten and therefore understands the losses when he deserved it. It’s ambition and perspective in check. That’s why he is maestro!👍👍miss him. I wish, I had spared money to watch Roger on the court when I could. He might shed tears, but beyond his roudy years, he is a class act tennis player, a husband and a good father.

I think 2012 federer is much better than this
2017 was definitely better. 2012 isn't even comparable. I'd even argue 2014-15 were scarier versions of Fed.
When I watched that legendary final in 2008, I never imagine both would still be at the very top level 11 years later.
In year 2008, Federer was around 27 years of age but it is the wonder of the world that in year 2019, ( around 38 years of age)he was playing with such authority, highest level thrashing Nadal, whereas Nadal around age 21 years in 2008 and playing with lesser authority in 2019 ( age around 32years) makes him look very ordinary when compared to the great Roger Federer. Federer always Mich better than Nadal in grass and any hard courts. Only a little lesser in clay courts
Federer looks like he just got out of bed, Nadal looks like he has just run a marathon... Federer plays the game effortless, its amazing!
Federer's footwork was sublime...he was never out of position
He uses his brain inatead of his body , that's why he is still playing at this level at this age.
Roger plays technically and Rafa with just his physical stamina. But still both play beautiful tennis. We are so lucky to have them play...
Great call. Roger is the GOAT & i say that totally unbiassed as i lean more towards Nole because of my Serbian heritage. Roger is like a magician waving his wand whilst his contemporaries Novak & Rafa are wonderful but have results because they die for every point. Fedex doesn't do that and is why he has kept his longevity!
@@HolySerbia If Roger thinks to win tommorow. He must to give his 100%.To run like a crazy and to try to catch every ball
Having not met at Wimbledon for 11 years and then to pick up where they left off in 2008 , unreal. Also huge respect and love for each other on and off the court , one betters the other. May never see a dynamic duo like this again in tennis , soak it up and drink it in.
Federer should never have lost this Wimbledon........
he had the chances to beat Novak 3-1... choked a 5-3 lead in the first set tiebreak losing both his serves by missing easy smashes. 4th set he almost choked after having 2 breaks, he almost got broken the second time. and of course the match point choke at the net. overall, his backhand was too passive and had way too many slices, unlike the match against Nadal, and his first serve % was quite low. if his backhand and serve was on point like this match, and if he made way less unforced errors in key moments, he would've won it easily.
Serge Zerkalo nadal should have not lost to Federer 😏

Yes as a Nadal fan, I think Wimbledon is the most probably the safest one for Federer to extend his currently equaled record. He still plays the old school style which grass court rewards.
No disrespect to Novak, but Federer pretty much proved he can beat him on grass in five over 4+ hours. He did all the hard work except for one narrowly missed first serve, so he was unlucky to lose. Djokovic was not in control at 40-15. He was leaning out wide and that first serve was going almost straight down the T at 127 mph. He would not have got it back.
If hes as fresh as ever and the hard courts are playing even faster than usual and hes winning points in shorter rallys/strokes, Aus is also possible. The key is to be fresh as possible

And now I think final will be more interesting because we haven't seen this level of Roger against Djokovic in recent years.
TRUE!
Its not the truth. Stop talking bullshits. Level of any tennis player depends not only of him but from opponent too. Nadal today was good only in second set. Rest of the game were sending short balls. In the middle of the court. He didnt manage to send them in corners to push Federer to run a bit more. Its partly because of Federer and partly Rafa cant find a level of tennis on grass needed for Roger. Novak is other story. He knows well what he has to do and on sunday will prevail one who is more motivated and more agressive. Simply Novak knows to be agressive on any court..Remember AO 2019. He simply didnt allow Nadal to think of any chance. If Novak manage to rise at that level on Sunday...the outcome will be the same. Nevertheless..I will enjoy either way and Iam huge Novak fan. Simply when those 3 are playing Iam like I dont care whose gonna win. Let them just play at their best levels.
Actually nole is on an absolutely different planet. Lets hope federer to atleast stay in the match beyond 3 sets which itself requires your best against novak. I want roger to win but my heart says novak is going to do it.

@@Fanthomas1742 nadal made his career attacking Feds backhand. but with the bigger racquets and Feds improved timing, its not as effective a strategy as it used to be
@@ma1ist yes by top spin forehand shots nadal had a big chances against federer but if federer played like that in RG last years he would really manage to beat him. I hope he can get the right strategy to beat nole cuz he plays differently.

I have watched twice and damn this Nadal have strong mentality on every match point, just awesome!
But Roger isveven stronger mentally. Another player would have messed it all up. But Roger remained calm and did not even break a sweat. Legend.

@@africanandproud6792 no that's the luck of the day. otherwise they are even
@@liamvisser01 then how did he win 20 majors? and 102 titles overall? lol.
6:40 Nadal's reaction to missing the break point says it all, it was his moment and very likely he would come back from the match.
Exactly. After the match he said "I had my chances but...." I'm pretty sure he was referring to that point. I wish we had a 5 set match but Federer deserved the win 100%. His forehand on grass is just lethal
For me, Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player of all time. He beat everyone who came before Nadal, Djokovic, like Sampras, Agassi. Today federer is in his last stage as a tennis player and the years have already shortened his achievements. Djokovic no longer has competition as Federer had in his time. Nadal is also already in his last stage as a tennis player. Federer is the elegance of tennis, there is no one and there was no one like him
quite right.many support that federer had less competition in his prime but that is totally wrong.he is the goat and rafa is the second goat.novak will never reach their level no matter how many titles he wins.
@@thetable5636 cope
Think your memory is playing tricks. Federer ruled in an easy era. Look at the players he beat in the finals, really average players. He didn't compete with peak players like Agassi and Sampras when he was winning those easy slams. As soon as Nadal came along, he's been secondary. Nadal consistently beat Fed at Fed's peak. In fact, he has a 10-4 winning ratio in slams, and Djokovic the same. The reason many say Federer had less competition before them is because he did. Have a look at the players in the top 10 back then. Federer never beat Nadal on Nadal's fav surface unlike vice versa.
@@thetable5636 that's the dumbest coment I ever seen , Fedrer 23-27 6-11 against Nole , 16-24 4-10 against Rafa ..... How the hell he is better than both? Nole and Rafa has 36-37 masters while Fedrer 28 , Rafa even has Olympic Gold ....... Fedrer will never reach the level of Nole and Rafa , Fedrer most slam wins are against average player , almost retired Agassi just played twice against Roger I guess ..... So use your brain titles mean everything in tennis plus records
@@thetable5636 That's just delusional.
That backhand is of steel. I still can’t understand how he generates power of backhand. Incredible to watch.
Nadal can't bully that backhand anymore. Now it's a proper fight. I was looking back at 2007 and 2008 and Fed's backhand was basically just bunting compared to this.
@@srinitaaigaura exactly if only he had shifted to a bigger frame back then. Its clearly visible from watching old videos that rafas fh (and bh) is so much more powerful now than back then but still fed can counter it so well now. The fh, serve, movement of younger fed plus present bh is the invincible tennis player. Rafa fans were raving about him 'declined' in 2017. There is no excuse now as rafa was in hot form this wimbledon as he as been post 2016... and so many were tipping him to win this time.
@Ferdous Alam true. Nadal is basically done at this point though. He's an all time great but he's no threat to the GOAT
Timing
@Ferdous Alam yes exactly! Nd rafatards say he was 'declined' in 2017 to as an excuse for his losses against Roger. This match also shows what wud hv happened if they met on grass from 2011 to now ND y the h2h is skewed in rafas favor
Federer is turning 38 but winning matches like a 28 year old and moving on court like a 18 year old. What a legend. Will always be my favourite ♥️
Lol
Roger perfectly executing first strike tennis taking Rafas time away. A tactic he has used beautifully in recent years against his great rival.
More than A match...10 years of pain, agony. 2019 Wimbledon. But in final losing the championship point was a major disarray in his career.
That one handed backhand has to be one of the most elegant things ever!
A reminder Roger Federer is still just 37 👍👍
A reminder of how suspicious that is giving how he played today.
@@MrBolaextra Yea probs some orange juicing.. -_-
@jocriss 32 is not 38. But I have no problem to admit Nadal probably takes his stuff too. Is just Federer's fans are not willing to see it.
Just 37 😋😋
@@MrBolaextra That says nothing. Everyone takes stuff just like Federer and Nadal do but no matter what, they are both the greatest of all time.
I won't get over the 2 championship points against novak!!! That would be the best major ever beating Nadal in semi and Novak in the final at the age of 37. I still can't believe he didn't win Wimbledon 2019.
He recently beat Djokovic at Nitto atp finals, he will do it again soon.
@@pauljohnson6019 this comment didnt age well
Because Novak is the mentally strongest athlete in the history of sports.
We won’t see this again. How sad. At least we can relive their matches on platforms like this.
Seeing Roger giving that so much rawr for that win just proves how intense the rivalry between these two legends is.
First time respect to win of Federer from Rafa fans👏👏👏
I love both
Please don't represent rafa fans. We always used to respect the roger Federer.
This match took place almost four years ago. Feels like yesterday, time flies man...
He is damn good.. Hats off to him.. Still fighting at this age.. Nadal is the one whom I didn't like during my childhood as he was the rival of Federer.. But now nothing matters.. Federer attained much more than this rivalry.. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Roger-Rafa-Novak...they are really the demigod of tennis and we are blessed to be living in their time.
Second that. People should really stop arguing who's better. All three are so unbelievably amazing that only nuances, such as the surface and weather condition, and their current physical and mental form, determine who's gonna win on a certain day.
@@theUroshman I've always said if those three all played in different eras to each other, they would all retire with over 30 grand slams each

Don't forget Andy Murray! He was one of the best too... Injuries affected him

It was very late...!
Honestly though Rafa was making some incredible shots, especailly in the last game, he just refuses to give up. It's awesome to see that kind of competetive spirit.
Someone just posted a 10mn highlight featuring only the last game!!

As a boy I was a RF fanboy, and a Nadal hater (back then). I watched this match, and in that point at 7:05, I celebrated Nadal's point. What an era of tennis. I don't give a ____ who is GOAT. I wish that their battles could last to eternity... but age is a thing and we should be grateful for watching those epic rivalries of tennis history
Just want to cry every time Federer wins against Nadal and Djokovic! Let's appreciate the games of this three great legends!
He has a losing record against both
@@Rm.d.n i think that's why he cries every time he won against them
Federer's bh seemingly has evolved into a new dimension, this will make more troubles to novak. I. Think Roger's ready to win it.
Djokovic is a better server than Nadal and the best returner in the game. That's going to be the difference in the Finals. He will extract errors from the Swiss as the match wears on. Federer's best chance is to finish the match in 4 sets. If the match goes the distance Djokovic will end up defending the title.
Nah man I am fed fan ...but fed can't beat djoko...he is awesome man..his ground cover and both backhand and forehand are piercing
@@celestialspartan7977 Also, Novak hits his backhand a bit deeper and low, while Nadal's forehands are bit shorter and bounces more, which allowes Roger to unleash the Neo BH from inside the baseline. It's gonna be a totally different match. Hope Fed's backhand doesn't crumble under pressure. The slices are gonna play a part.
He needs to bash that BH down the line like Wawrinka. That is the only way Djokovic can be beaten.
@@celestialspartan7977 djoko could barely even handle roberto
We all know Djoker was unbelievable this tournament and won it through spirit and belief. But I really think we should all appreciate the greatness of Mr. Roger Federer. Almost 38 years of age back then, he beat his rival in this epic semi-final and reached a final that he almost won (At 37 almost 38!!!!!), he proved to be the tennis master he has always been!! So lucky to be in the era of the three GOATs.
Check out the bounce height generated by Nadal’s forehand to Roger’s backhand. It’s at least 40cm lower than what Roger faced on the 2008 Crt . Their rivalry was always decided on Crt speed and bounce heights.
