Hi brother i tried to edit speed of my video in capcut in curve setting, but even smaller changes it lagging, also i bought pro version but i dont know how to fix it, please help me.
Fantastic video! The first for me was not removing the rubber piece that was behind the gimbal. I didn't see it and turned the drone on for the first time. Was scared that was drone was DOA but then saw that foam bit!
When you're on a boat set the return to home to hover
Another tip - I always switch to 'Cine' mode on the controller when manually landing, to give more precise control.
interesting I'll try this out when I do my next flight
I started doing that too. It's much easier, especially if you use small landing pads.
I work for a DJI certified sales/rental and repair shop which I run, so I get a ton of crashed DJI drones into my shop and have seen it all! Without getting into the weeds as this is for beginners I will suggest a few basics. 1) I have had several come in because the owner forgot to remove the gimbal cover which caused the gimbal motor to overload and fail. This seems trivial but is very easy to do! 2) People tend to start up a drone in a garage or covered area and then walk it out to the take off point without resetting the home point, then freak out when it tries to or does (in low light conditions) auto return into their roof or some other obstacle above or around the original home point.
repair shop info please. for future needs :)
The two I learned the hard way are 1) Always look up first to confirm your liftoff path is clear. No upward obstacle avoidance! Stray branches ended my very first mini 3 pro flight. Ugghhhh. 2) be very gentle when unfolding the arms, especially the front ones. It is easy to confuse which axis they are rotating on and accidentally twist in a direction that snaps the attachment point. With a light
I lost mine on the third flight to sideways flight to a tree branch. I ended up focusing too much on the screen so I didn't see it flying directly towards the top of the tree. Keeping an eye on the drone while it's flying is so much more important when obstacles are nearby.
Thanks!
Yeah ugghhhh. Yesterday my mini 3 was tangled in small branches twice as I tried to get it above the tree tops in a wood. Luckily my beloved Mini survived. But didn't talk to me for the rest of the day.
@@videopoul i just unboxed mine and the gimbal motor was already broken on the first flight… its a very fragile drone
This happened to me I literally folded the arm back same way as the other side and it snapped the first day I got it I was pissed.
If you’re travelling on a boat then the best setting for lost connection would be to tell the drone to just hover so you then can return or get nearer to it.
Awesome tip! I recently quit the ratrace and got a sailboat, this was a worry about getting a drone with auto RTH. Thanks mate
& under a forest canopy
Or maybe if the boat is going to return to exactly where it departed from, return to home should be set to an area on land near there. Especially if it's something like a commercial boat that isn't gonna turn back to find your drone.
@@Zytronapparently could be just a bit off from long range and land in the water or something…
If a bird is trying to ruin your day just fly straight up. birds are shit at gaining altitude quickly.
The birds around here are panic merchants anyway. I just go out the back yard to go out in the car and they start freaking out with an alarm call to all their mates.
As a beginner my biggest challenge is remembering that when the drone flies away the controls work one way and when it returns to you the controls are the opposite. I've had several near misses. Great video, thank you for sharing.
Hi. Could you please explain a little bit more when you say "the controls are the opposite"? Im getting my first drone in a couple of weeks, and I dont want it to get wrecked in my first flight
I think what he means is that left is always left for the drone, but from your POV looking at the drone and it is coming towards you the drones left is your right.
Take a piece of paper and label it front on one of the long ends and rear on the other end. Mark the left side left and the right side right. Put the piece of paper with the end labeled front away from you. If you move either stick towards the left the "drone would fly to the left. Same with right stick it will go to the right. Now, turn the paper so the end marked F is pointing toward you If you move a stick to the left it will fly toward the side marked L on the paper. Now. Think about which direction the drone will fly. It will fly to itsvleft which is your right. This is what he meant when he said the controls are reversed. I learned to basic fly a drone by buying a $40 Holy Stone micro drone and flying it in the living room. I would recommend the HS 420. It is the size of the palm of yourvhand and the propellors are guarded so it cant hurt anything. Also, it will hover in place when you let go of the sticks!
So I tend to take off from the hand most of the time now, with the Mini 3. But I don't ever use the sticks. I simply press the takeoff icon, then hold down on the takeoff "button" when it pops up...then just let the drone leave the hand. You don't have to press up on the left stick to take off. You just need to make sure your hand is not in a position to get clipped by the props, and then just make sure you hold your hand still until the drone pops up and hovers.
Ye I was thinking the same thing!
Plus there's no need to hold the drone by the sides. I always sit the drone on my opened palm and just hit the take off button as you said. That works perfectly. And the taking off from a uneven pole sounds silly. Better use the palm of hand or look for a flat area. We are talking about loosing your investment just because.
Another way is use the sticks to turn on the propellers, and then pull down the drone itself a bit. You'll hear the propellors spin up faster and you can release it, it will hover, without pulling the stick up.
Exactly!!! No need to press on stick and much easier to press launch button in left hand while drone takes off from your right👍
@@jacobgatt nope, no need for launch. Just start the propellers, pull down the drone a bit...
Not covered in this video these 10 more don't: Noobs should not fly 1) through tunnels; if the signal is lost and the drone returns to home, it will smash into the ceilings or walls 2) along (with) the wind down to 50% battery; the return against the wind requires more energy then the initial part 3) draining the battery up to single digit percentages; the complete discharges affect the battery longevity, but even its maximum output current 4) without a spotter; looking at the screen and at the drone might overload the new operators and a friend that is instructed to look at the drone and at the surrounding area, communicating both if things are fine and if there is any possible risk, is valuable 5) outside with the GPS disabled; besides the risk of losing the drone, it can inflict harm to pople, animal or property while getting lost. 6) indoors with drones that are not specifically beginner-friendly indoor drones with obstacle detection (and avoidance); it's more fun to fly inside with a $50 (non-GPS, garbage camera) toy drone with some rudimentary obstacle avoidance and prop guards than risk an Autel, FIMI, DJI, or other fancy drone 7) a new drone that is totally unfamiliar to them beyond visual line of sight and beyond the distance where they can no longer see the orientation of the drone; I'm not talking about the new regulations that appeared in some countries, but developing good piloting habits where the reliance for safe flying on the camera and phone is kept at a minimum 8) in headless mode; it just hinders developing proper habits 9) surounded by distracting elements; a beginner needs a quiet and predictable environment as not to get overloaded with information and sensorial saturation 10) over places where walking access is prohibited; if something goes wrong and the drone lands (hopefully not crashes), then it would be difficult to recover it, while an experienced pilot might prevent the thing going wrong in the first place (proper maintenance and pre-flight checks, flying recovery skills, identification of problems before a catastrophic failure, etc.)
Other mistakes yes, This weekend I flew in frozen fog (Foggy day and the temperature was -1 C). I had severe ice build up on the blades and the drone began flying eratically and slowly drifted down which it fought. Luckily I too was over level short grassy area and the rate of decent was slow. once I stopped the drone, I was shocked at how much ice covered the leading edges.
This video is really informative. This is the drone I’m considering to purchase as my first and having these hands-on tips gives a pre-flight advantage from someone who has experience certainly can save the drone from accidents, along with wildlife as you mention and not forgetting other people. Some of the advice seems obvious once you had mentioned but I don’t think I would have thought of until you had mentioned so glad to have watched this video.
Thanks Matthew, again a very helpful video, had my maiden flight with my mini3 pro yesterday. And you're right, absolutely brilliant drone👍
I have just purchased the DJI Mini 3 Pro and I haven’t flown yet this video is great. Thank you and hope when the wind dies down I can head out and learn my trade!
By far the best description on operation of a drone for beginners seen yet .
Another great and very useful video here, one tip I'd like to add on safely flying sideways without sensors is before pulling off the sideway flight, make sure your gimbal is lined up straight forward, aim the camera towards the direction you want to fly sideways and simply check if nothing sticks out above the horizon. That's pretty much a guarantee your drone won't crash into anything. This can be very effective on checking out if you'll fly over trees instead of into them, for instance.
This is great advice, thank you for sharing!
Another great video. Im not a beginner but I always get something out of Matthew's videos aimed at newbies. Another tip I would add for lightweight drones is to start the flight upwind if you're in any doubt about its ability to cope with wind speed. That way you're not fighting against the wind trying to return home on low battery.
Excellent video. Haven't had my first flight yet and glad that there're experts like you going to the effort of helping people like me out. Thanks again from New Zealand.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Someone’s been working hard! Appreciate all that you do. Very helpful video as always. I’m very much thrilled to apply everything I learned from you once I get my Mini 3 Pro.
Been a busy few weeks, ha! Thank you - really appreciate that.
Another beginner mistake: flying around birds without realizing they’ll attack the drone and break it
This was one of the 12
Yes, yesterday my drone was nearly picked by Eagle 🤣
I hope the bird is ok
Fighting birds
Flone at the beach with pelicans and seagulls luckily nothing happened 😂 but it’s just a cheap little mini 2 se
Been binge watching your channel for the last week. I had a Spark that I used for video footage for my channel content, I loved the sparky until it went all independent on me and flew into I wall snapping the gimbal housing. That was about 2 maybe 3 years ago. I've just bought the Mini 3 pro had a wee test flight today but the wind was too much so heading out early in the morning before the sea breeze gets up. Great tips on here mate appreciate it.
Hi, thanks for tips 👍 It also seems that keeping obstacle avoidance on (and even better in Brake more than ByPass), will help for a better smooth cinematic shooting.
Nice video. I started with a less expensive drone but recently upgraded to the mini 3. I'm going to try some of your tips this weekend.
Thank you from Shenzhen, the city of DJI. :) I have just ordered Mini 3 Pro as my first drone. Excited. Waiting for it to be delivered next week 😃
Thank you for your very clear , concise advice for beginner Drone pilots, really helpful.
Great video. Thanks Matthew. I have actually lost the joysticks on my Mini 2. I had to use a backup I had on me. I am one of those always with spare parts in hand, especially when I am going on a trip or something.
I'm going to use a borrowed Mini 3 Pro tomorrow. It's my first time to really play with it. I have about 30 minutes of practice flying time. This video provided useful information. Thank you.
Thank you, I just ordered my Mini 3 pro. Thanks for reminding me to slow down. I've had some close calls but haven't crashed my m-2, let me add "yet"!
Just bought one as a beginner and thoroughly enjoyed your NI delivery (as an Englishman). Well thought-out, prepared, presented and looking forward to practicing and putting your recommendations into action and watching your other videos. Thank you for your time and trouble.
Thanks for some great advice. I am picking up my Mini 3 today and your footage is going to be very useful.
Just a couple of things I have noticed. No upward facing sensor. Watch out for things above the drone. Believe the warning about ambient light being too low for the sensors to work. The scene on the controller looks bright as day but it can be too dark for the sensors to work.
Great video. While I have been flying for years, I just upgraded to a mini 3 pro so this was great information. Thank you.
Super helpful! I feel more comfortable going out for my first flight after watching this :) Thanks so much!
Happy to help, you will love your first flight. Thank you!
Thank you for this very informative video. I do not have a drone yet, but I think there is a DJI Mini 3 pro under the Christmas Tree. I just want to use it for gold prospecting and exploring.
Great video thanks! I’m super careful now after crashing and replacing my DJI mini3 Pro. I’d like to recommend if you like to narrate what you see while flying, getting a wireless Microphone. There are a few companies that make them including DJI. After some research, i got the DRONE VALLEY product. I’m very happy with the result. It eliminates a whole lot of post production.
Just got one of these for Xmas. Great video and honestly super helpful comments section too on lessons learned! 👍
Great Advise... its really helpful to know & be well prepared before flying an expensive piece of equipment like a Drone !!!
Amazing video! Well put together, extremely informative and beautiful scenery.....THANK YOU
I upgraded to a mavic air 2 a while ago from a spark and I really miss the hand launch face recognition thing that the spark did. You could just double press the power button (or some kind of press... I dont remember) and it would make sure it could see your face and then take off totally hands free. That was a really great feature. No hands on the controller needed. I rarely hand launch my air 2 because its just so awkward to hold the controller and the drone and do the two sticks dance with a much larger scarier drone in your hand.... That is the one thing i miss about the spark. That and landing it your hand was much easier as well. Typically with the spark I would just hover it in front of me and grab it, twist it 90 degrees so it would shut off and that's it. No landing area needed for either take off or landing. It was super convenient.
Thanks for posting. Much of this information can be useful and applied to many drones, especially DJI.
Another great video Matthew. Very helpful tips. I live on a large boat so I have become quite adept at hand launch and recovery. I've found it much easier to hold the drone in one hand and just press the take off button on the screen with the other hand.
Thanks for the kind feedback. This is actually great advice and probably a much safer way to launch the drone when it can't be placed down.
That’s what I would do
Just watch your video , love it , very detailed, got to practice on my mini 3 pro , thanks , great content
Amazingly well-presented video with very important information. Nice job and thanks for sharing! (I’ll soon be buying the Mini 3 Pro so I have definitely subscribed to your channel.)
Just bought this Mini 3 Pro so this video has been really useful for me. Thank you.
Mini 3 Pro and this channel making beginners look and feel like a pro.👊 Thanks for the awesome content!
Happy to help - thanks for the kind feedback!
Many thanks for the videos, Matthew. Currently flying a Xiaomi X8 SE 2020, but have ordered a Mini 3 Pro. I've flown and filmed around Ballintoy and can't wait to get up to Elephant Rock with the new drone!
Awesome - you will love the Mini 3 Pro. Maybe bump into you round Ballintoy!
Super helpful tips for every drone Pilot out there. Thank u👏👏
Thank you Matthew for the great tips. Cheers
There is sand in the air, in the wind, on the ground. The motors and the air vents are like vacuums. And there is salt in the air. They will damage your motors and corrode the metal housing and circuit boards. Try to avoid sand and salty air as much as possible. Clean the drone with a clean cloth after flying while avoiding the propellers.
I'm a real beginner, but have got my Flyer ID and about to buy the DJI Mini 3 Pro and your videos and training are brilliant-and enjoyable. Thank you very much.
Did you get the mini 3 pro? I hear the 4's about to come out, potentially today as the dji event is today the 25th of September. Hopefully you can get the upgrade if you did get the 3 already
@@CrobraStrike27both are similar just a major difference is the blind spot in the obstacles avoidance sensors in mini 3 pro there is a blind spot
I have a DJI Mini 2 for a month now. Related the sand thing, one thing that happened to me was to get a sand grain inside the gimbal & it got stuck while @ 60m in the air, maine 200 m away from me (I could hardly see the drone anymore). Luckily, I could bring the drone back to me and after manualy moving the gimbal a bit, it started working again. What I'm tring to say is that sand is not dangerous for the motors only, even though, motors are the most highly to get affected.
awesome content bud, thank you. Also thank you to the experienced pilots who are adding their tips in this comment section. if you read through it all, this could be a bit of a GO TO ... The drone manual!
thanks!! waiting for my mini 3, four weeks to go! love the basics you've detailed here- the auto rick climb avoidance clip itself proves why i'm waiting on the 3 versus rushing out just to fly with a mini 2. first "real drone", can't wait!!!
Could just get it now on Amazon?
@@SolarSuntime wasn't any earlier then... ordering today would get it by the 14th... ugh I'll just wait to get it direct from DJI i guess.... anticipation is part of the fun i guess, like X-mas
For bird avoidance, putting shnky metallicized foil on some parts might help. I have read that some birds avoid it. If you try this, make sure it is not just smooth foil. That will only reflect in one direction at a time. Use something that scatters light.
What if you paint the whole thing reflective?
This is a terrible idea most birds are attracted to shiny objects
With only 1 single gram of leeway on weight before it’s illegal to fly, this isn’t ideal.
Absolutely brilliant Matthew some of the best tips so far for the Mini 3 Pro thank you.
Thank you Keith, really appreciate that.
I recently took my Mavic Mini drone out for the very first time and winds were 10mph gusting to over 20mph. As a beginner, I can tell you it was nerve-wracking to watch the winds toss it around in the air. It held its own, but after only a few minutes I was simply too nervous and brought it down to land. It barely landed on the landing pad as the wind continued to knock it around as it was landing. I don't doubt that I'll be flying it in such winds when I get more experience, but I definitely wouldn't recommend attempting it for a beginner.
Thanks for a few lessons from a new flyer... I will have some questions later. Cheers
Thanks for this drone flying intro video. Sure helps to improve my confidence as I stumble on in my new hobby👍😄
Very Informative, thank you.
One thing that came to mind when you were talking about obstacle avoidance. Sport mode disables obstacle avoidance. It's really to the point where OA should be treated as a final measure of safety instead of a primary tool. It should be on, especially if you're new, but you should learn to pilot as though it's not there. As for birds, you definitely want to mitigate the hazard, but flying in Canada I'd never get off the ground.
I purposefully look for birds to harass. Just because im not near the birds to intimidate them, doesn’t mean my drown is now fair game. Sometimes I’ll lure the bird towards me so I can eliminate it altogether
Strange guy @@fireboltaz
just a tip, If you encounter a bird attack or sense an impending threat, and you're unable to land at that moment, a helpful strategy is to ascend to a higher altitude. Birds tend to perceive elevated positions as predatory, causing them to retreat or providing you with an opportunity to fly to a safer location.
Tradesmen tip I used with drill bits, driver bits and pin punch was to wrap high visibility tape around the circumference of the neck. This would work for this application. If you are that worried carry a magnet stick for picking up screws on a construction sight.
Yeh, great idea, did think of thin nylon thread but your ideas make more sense ! 👍
I bought a small handheld metal detector from Amazon. It was fairly inexpensive and works great for finding small metal parts in tall grass.
After a dozen or more flights while changing prop blades, I found several prop screws were loose. Now I check them every flight day. I'm thinking of using Locktite on the screws.
Thanks for your useful advice. It has been helpful.
Tip use the auto take off when holding in your hand and once the bar is full on the circle you can remove your hand! been doing it this way since I owned the drone and never had any issues.
Thank you for this. You have given me a lot of info that wouldn't have occurred to me.
Great work and great explanations! Much appreciated.
Thanks for the tips, about to go on my first flight
Great advices and the birds advice are welcome, they can crash it or you can hurt them.
Thanks for a very informative video. I have only test flown a couple of DJI drones before shipping to Ukraine SF. I am considering buying one for myself as it looks like a lot of fun.
Thank you for all your wonderful videos. You are a DJI Rockstar!
Excellent advice! Thank you for creating this video and sharing it with us.
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Matthew, great videos. I'm a beginner. When resetting your home point, do you have to be connected to wifi via your phone's hot spot? This is a phone feature I do not have. Thanks.
Great Tips on the Mini 3. I'll be getting mine soon and can't wait to fly... Good footage. Subscribed
Always wanted to fly around Mussenden temple.. first time seeing your channel. Will follow now 👍🏻
Thank you for the tips from a new Pilot
Thanks for sharing your knowledge thumbs up
I learned the hard way with wind. 2nd launch of new drone I went up too high and wind took it away couldn’t control it and wouldn’t return home. I tried to follow based off video feed but once that went out it was gone. Sooo frustrating lesson learnt fir sure
I'm hoping to try the FPV mode to experience how I used to fly..ages ago. Any tips?
Matt, I have never seen you with a landing pad, they make some that can be very compact and portable. My guess is you do hand launch and land. As beginner I hesitate doing that. Great video, thanks.
Your shared experience with the Mavic mini, has lots of potentially very helpful advice. Thanks much!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Just a quick question I love this drone and have never used one so can I ask you guys what do you use yours for mine would be when we stay in our camper van and go hiking so what do you guys do :)
Hi. Thanks for the video. Do you know if I can purchase the DJI care program even if I purchase the Mini Pro 3 from an authorized retailer.
Well done! Thank you.
Very useful--thank you! Question about takeoff/landing locations: if the drone takes off from your hand, is that point in space (~1 m AGL) the automatic fly-home location? It seems that a hand takeoff requires a hand landing as well.
I did wonder that as well?
So many tips!! Thanks buddy.
Thanks for all the tips, Mattheww. I hope a Mini 3 Pro can be in my future. Cheers from Wisconsin.
Hope they help, thanks for watching - appreciate it.
Thank you very much for your very good and important advises.🎉😊
Very useful information, thank you🤙🏽
Fantastic video!! Thank you for sharing this
Thanks again mate for more TIPS.
Very informative! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers Matt, I do enjoy these. The scenery where you live looks lovely. Wish I had had my drone a few years back when I visited Ulster.
Thank you - lucky to be surrounded by so many nice locations.
What is the best gear extension you think? Just a question. Thanks from Canada.
Thanks! good video with useful info 🙂
So glad to found this channel.
Informative and helpful vid Matheww thank you...............have got a mini se and I so enjoy it and learning each time I fly
The Mini SE is fantastic and a lot of these tips will apply to that drone. Appreciate you taking the time to watch, thank you.
