I bought my mini 2 as the cost of getting scaffolding to check a house roof I was thinking of buying out was more expensive and way slower. It paid for itself immediately as the roof wasn’t great . Id been looking for an excuse to buy a drone for ages! Great video thanks.

Great use of a drone, I used a friends one to inspect my own roof so I knew what the issue was before I got roofers in. They then tried to claim the issue was bigger than it was... Once I showed them the drone footage showing two loose tiles... they suddenly came up with an ''option b'' for repairing the roof!!! Needless to say I sent them on their way and got someone else to do it, but it saved me 3 times the cost of the drone.
Thank you for this, i really needed a place to start and as i have a bunch of photos and footage now i can start reaching out to build from there.

Great video. I won a Mini 2 at an event, and have really been enjoying learning to fly it. I hadn't even thought of trying to upload some of my footage for stock. I live in an incredibly beautiful part of the world and it's hard to take a bad shot. While the rest would take a lot of investment (mostly time) the first one I can do with what I already have and keep it a hobby. Cheers!

I just bought my Dji mini 3 first drone ever got me already registered but i'm stoked to start my film carriere so i'll be capturing the unboxing and usage aswell! So stoked! Roof inspection sounds great for folks like me who live in rural areas. Lots of Farms, small businesses, and older homes where drones are few and far between. One could make a lucrative gig offering easy access to out of sight areas of property. And there's not much competition.
I like the idea of weddings & sports event, especially for a local club or sports team 😀

I also have the DJI MINI SE. I dont get too many KZhead views for my footage videos of my Drone though, but I wanna try the stock footage selling on the internet. I am also gonna buy the normal MAVIC MINI, MINI 2 and MAVIC AIR 2 soon.
Very relieved that you took the time, at the end, to reminded everyone about the Drone Rules. Many of these suggestions would cross a drone rule line at some point unless you have the correct qualification and know what can and can not be done with your particular drone (the weight limitation). MANY good suggestions here though. The mapping one is interesting, but because it's currently considered "niche" it can be mind-numbingly expensive.

I’m not trying to make money with mine but I did shoot a local bike parade and created a short 15 second reel with it. It got way more attention than I anticipated so I can understand how the right contact points can get you a paid gig.

Very interesting info mate, yesterday I was look up on one of open day drones courses. By European laws up to 250 gr ( 8,8 oz) you need a licences A1-A3 or A2 depends of drones and the uses. Thanks for the sharing 👍
I ordered a mini2 yesterday and just made the a1-a3 "licence". It took about 15 minutes and was for free.
Too add for US residents it will require a part 107 license for this stuff
As a scaffolder Drones are taking some of my lively hood, I need to learn how to do this

Great video. But in Australia lots of guys are registering their drone to make money but the insurance premium is high so lots of guys are doing the drone work under the table… no insurance goes up on registering the drone… People just will not pay big prices for aerial footage unless you’re lucky to get a big company that will do it.

Drone mapping sounds interesting. Mentioned some technical things that need to be learned first. Can you or someone tell me what they are or where I could find that info?
@mathew Brennan do you recommend good apps for checking drone rules and regulations, notam, private property etc when flying in UK. I am coming for holiday next week to UK as a new drone user and finding keeping track of all these restrictions overwhelming
I was thinking of a drone to buy for my historic research, quite handy to view current locations to old aerial photos but would like to offer one of the services offered such as weddings building inspection etc, what would be a good drone to use i was thinking of a DJI mini 3 pro or a DJI Avanta, which one would be a better option for business use.
You need, drone something like Air2S and upper as mini is too weak for commercial use. A very powerful pc, and adobe or equivalent package to edit videos, a good skill to edit videos, drone commercial insurance, various drone licenses depending on country, and a 3D mapping training and software. For events like weddings and events you need to be a pro as it is an once a lifetime event... Sounds easy, but when you start looking at it for real it gets serious.
Mini 3 pro is perfectly capable.
at least someone is living in reality.
The stock photos appealed to me. I'm on the cusp of buying my first drone with making some passive income. I frequent the lake district these days so I'm sure I can capture some awesome landscape shots. Thanks for the heads up on submittable sites. Great vid!
Best of luck with your drone if you now have one. I’m ancient so maybe that’s my excuse for finding flying my recent mini3 pro a huge learning curve. Flying the thing carefully AND taking video and stills correctly exposed etc OMG. Matthews videos are so helpful though, along with others out there. I would suggest concentrating on the flying until it’s second nature and then look at camera settings with the drone just a few metres away. Great fun though. Enjoy!

How is the DJI 3 pro? Been debating about that for some car shoots but I’ve never owned a drone. I also need a better video camera (thinking sony zv-e10 vs e1 vs a7iv) and wondering if thats the better upgrade first or a drone for different shots?
I'm just now getting back into the drone hobby and hope one day turning it into profit. I just bought the mavic 3 and planning on doing roof inspection and maybe mapping if the mavic 3 is capable. For now I need to get familiar and learn all the ends and out of the drone before getting started.
