Dude this is an amazing video. Thank you for being transparent and taking the time to make it. Cheers!
This concept and your presentation, are great examples of freelance/gig work. The area I live in is booming with new houses and subdivision development, and a service like this could be very valuable to both the developer, and future owners. In fact, the average person owns a home for around five years before listing it for sale again, there is potential to resale digital packages to each new owner.
not being a hater, just realistic, but who would see value in that video as a buyer of a residential property? I went onto the website in this video. It looks pretty average to say the least. I was hoping for a wow factor, but it's just not there. If I'm buying this property, I see no difference in the nerf compared to a standard circular drone video. Why would the seller of the property want to pay for something that they can get from a standard drone video? I like the walk-though 360 video. That was good.
Just a heads up to people thinking that this is just so easy.. You have to have a drone part 107 license to be able to sell any image or video captured with the drone. The regular drone license is just for recreational flying.. You need the commercial 107 part to be able to do anything involving MONEY with the drone.
yeah, and everything is up in the air with the mini 3 especially now that remote ID is in effect. apparently remote ID only works on the mini 3 if you purchase the bigger battery. you can still fly it unregistered with the normal battery which keeps the drone under 250g, but part 107 just got more complicated.
@@okjohnnygo nobody is complying with RID. It paints a huge sign where you are saying come rob me

I think the 360 walkthrough is the most interesting. Nobody is doing that! Everyone sets the camera in the corner and does a still 360 and makes a semi-virtual walkthrough. What you've shown that can be done is awesome! It's an ACTUAL 360 walkthrough!
@@r3furbish3dbrain12 thanks for your response! Do know if there’s any way to blur the person holding the camera (like if they walk by a mirror) and not lose the virtual 360 effect of rotating the view? If I make a virtual walk thru for a realtor, I don’t want to be recognizable in the footage. You know what I mean?

As a DJI Mini 3 fanatic, this is a masterclass. Almost went down this same route for drone freelancing but decided against it because of other commitments - but this is exactly what I would've done to get started. The business system is so sick and your workflow is inspiring especially since the whole process is basically free. Would imagine there are some things you can leverage with the LumaLabs API / AI-based editing plugins, but this is seriously so rad. Earned a sub for sure - can't wait to follow your progress! I'm an old guy looking for a side hustle and happened upon your tutorials. Great work Dylan!
Thank you, Dylan! Inspiring. Been flying drones for years now but I'm eyeing with the industrial using of the knowledge.
My realtor had something similar done for our house. She paid around $2500 for all internal and exterior photos and video. Dope process. The interior photographer made $1200ish in 1hr. The drone and AI imager made $1300 in 45min. Seriously considering going into this as a side gig.
Looks like as cheap as 300$ for aerial photos up to 1300 for full 3d package including indoor and outdoor and post-processing (much more than 1 hour of work). This is in so cal. Not sure where you are at and your realtor is paying nearly double. She may have just lied to you to appear as though she is investing more time/money(very common). Checked about 5 of the top websites on google for these prices.
Really happy to see this. I got the mini 3 as well and most videos cover higher priced drones. So really cool to see this work done on a mini 3. Would love to see more mini 3 possible jobs.

Great video honestly. I've been involved in a couple projects on my own. This is great but something of value you should add or cover, is where to find those new clients? After one project is done where do you find your next client? I was fortunate and have an inlaw who is a project manager, but to continue, it would be nice to know where.

That's epic!
How do you find your clients? I’m trying to get into it
Very good video Dylan. One of my first "lessons" from you was using the Mini 2 with Maps Made Easy. I used it to create a 3d model at my home, then I did another using Agisoft Metashape. Similar to what you show here, I'm trying to use all free or inexpensive tools due to this being a hobby and no real income yet. I have picked up some roof inspections with Bees360, but that is about it. I am actually in a new subdivision in Middle TN and people move here from the north east, California, Illinois, etc. on a daily basis. I need to walk down the street (literally) and do this on one of the homes under construction, then I could walk in the model home and show the agents what can be done, and maybe they could pitch this to their clients that are building the homes? It's worth a shot! Recently sold the Mini 2 and picked up the Mini 4 Pro. Looking forward to see if you have any videos coming up about it. Thanks again.
Did you do it? How was the result?
@@SoyPorteroYT the method that he shows in this video works perfectly. Luma Labs AI is awesome. I do not have the 360 degree camera for interiors yet and I have not created a website yet, but the drone footage to 3d model is really neat. It is much easier on Luma Labs web based system than it is to go through a legit 3d modeling software. I am still trying to figure out the limits of Luma Labs though.
You just win my subscribe softly and flowingly. Thanks a lot for all of your sincere advice, definitely I will think about how to use your idea in my location

You have some great practical advice that I plan to use in getting my drone business going. I have thought of doing the same type of construction progress. Basically, you are solving a problem and saving your clients time and money. Any advice on how to find the property under construction and make contact with the person having it built?
Send it up out of hours and turn up next day asking for the site manager, it may be just the thing they're looking for.

Great work as always! As your mentioned, getting the clients is probably the hardest part. Who would you say for services like this, would be best to target?
Thank you Juan! I think this is a video that I need to consider making now. To date I have about 400 comments asking that same question. I will get to the drawing board and write out a video that I think would help with this.
@@DylanGorman Awesome! I look forward to seeing it. Keep up the great work!
I would say target builders to almost act as agents on your behalf. Give them commission as part of your business model to get clients on board.
Looking to get into Photogrammetry using DroneDeploy and curious if I should look into the Air3 or go with the Mavic enterprise mostly just to get the autonomous flight option. Do you think it's worth putting thousands extra into autonomous flight or would getting the new air3 be very sufficient to capture the renders and volumetric data with DroneDeploy?
With Drone Deploy processing you can use any drone. For capturing data with their app you need specific drones that they highlight on their website. For accurate data you need an RTK or GCP setup. Too much to explain over a simple reply but those are the basics. The Air3 won’t get you accurate data but will get you pretty data
If you aren't focused on capturing artistic shots with a compressed background and foreground from the 3x lens or wildlife shots where you would use the 3x zoom lens to avoid getting too close and scaring an animal, you could save yourself a lot of money and get the Mini 3 Pro, which has the same main camera as the Air 3.
Love it. Appreciate the work to do something unique
If you used a Skydio 2+ with 3D Scan you could autonomously capture all of the data needed (and with better coverage) WHILE you do the interior scan with the GoPro. Heck, if the site is big enough, you could have the drone do the entire thing, walkthrough included, with KeyFrame.
Tell me more!

Hi Dylan, just started watching your videos so not sure if you have made one on this but I am looking at starting up a business in this industry and one thing that I am struggling with is working out how to charge clients. If you could provide some insight, it would be much appreciated.
He’s got a video on that bud, it’s titled something like how to charge for jobs in 2023 or something along those lines. It’s a year old but it’s still relevant now. Another tip is call around a few drone companies etc Google search get free quotes in your area and you can get a good idea on what people charge
So glad I found you. Weary help full. Thank you ❤
@dylangorman just to confirm, the 3D walk throguh is prepared using your gopro software that came with the camera, not another software. Luma AI did not like my interior photos ;). It also did not like my test capture of a cell tower, too many gaps in the lattice structure. I think I have work around to take more higher angle shots which shows lattice gaps against ground vice the sky. TIA
Great video! Two questions; 1. Do you document the building every week, from start to Finnish for this client? 2. I don't see the benefit the customers have of the photogrammetry/NeRF model? Keep up the good work!!
In that situation I can, because the customer can see the work that is being done and how far along the restoration is going and can possibly see any issues or problems and be able to contact the contractor 5k miles away and have it addressed.
@@saintkenny9296 But I don't see how the photogrammetry/NeRF shows it better than photo or video.
@@lpskywalk I think it's having the ability to look at a specific angle opposed to having to stop the video at a specific point. They could say "I want to quickly look at the front and back" and quickly turn the model around to see the front and back of the house in a matter of seconds rather than looking for those shots in the video.
It’s up to the client. If they want every week we can charge more.
@@lpskywalkFair questions. It's good to have an understanding of the full benefits to be confident in offering this service yourself. I wonder how a snappier this month vs last month side by side could be configured without having to have the client split screen pages off the website.

Oldish rich people

What kind of properties would this be best for? Do you think it would work with commercial projects (ie apartment complexes)?
As a pilot who flies GA aircraft, I am afraid of drones. I’m afraid of birds too, but birds are generally afraid of my plane and stay away from me, drone pilots may not be fully aware of my presence with no way to communicate with me. Geese are also big and pretty easy to spot compared to a small drone. Drones most definitely present a risk, but just not as big as people make them out to be. Very good video

I’m not on board with helping foreign clients buy up American property, that’s already been devastating for both the US and Canada. However guess it depends on the circumstances, if it were someone in another state or someone who will be moving in themselves that would be more reasonable. Nice channel though and thanks for the tips.
As long as those property purchases are legal and lucrative they will happen whether we take the work or not. I have mixed feelings about some of the work I do but I recognize that refusing the work will not make any difference. To make a difference I think our effort is better spent telling policymakers that we don't like the policy. Honestly, I'm not confident that telling policymakers makes any difference either because they're looking out for things other than us. Still, refusing the work won't help 😞 I do admit that if somebody just feels better by turning down certain jobs, that is an important factor.
I’m in the service business but I hear what you are saying. It’s the world that we live in so if I can make money to get by then I’ll do so by economical means

Hey Dylan, this video really got my excited. Photogrammetry is where I eventually want to end up, but, this seems like a way I can maybe make some extra money to build up to that. Thanks for sharing! This is exactly where I am trying to go with my drones, and put to use with my engineering skills as well. I got the mini 3 and the air 2s about a year ago and have been practicing my flying skills in Chicago. I plan on getting a 3 pro next asap. So, to fund that, I want to get my commercial license from the FAA before I move to Austin on Dec. Anyway. Thanks again! If you have any more tips, let me know!
What type of engineering? I'm in the same boat. Structural Engr in TN, but Part 107 and trying to figure out ways to implement this technology into my "real" job.
I recently retired and looking at getting the mini 3 pro drone but need a reason to justify the cost really. I live in Devon in the UK and we have some lovely old properties open to the public and also various camping sites and air bnb's. My thoughts are to ,maybe, capture some aerial video of these places and put them on a you tube channel with a water mark. Then approach the property owner and say "Hi, I recently took some aerial video of your property which turned out pretty good" then try to sell them the footage to use in their advertising, without watermark of course. What would your thoughts be on doing this to get started?
Very nice. I have the OM6 with my current iPhone 13 Pro Max soon the iPhone 15 Pro max. I have the Air 2s and my newest addition DJI Mavic 3 Classic. I am learning Final Cut Pro still so my videoing doesn't suck! That perspective of doing all those different shots and that app in the end creating them is crazy. How does that all work when the customer zooms in on the model? Does it all look like on piece go from the outside to the inside? Thank you for the video! I am trying to learn a bit at a time to get some good skills so I can do almost any job. My brother who is a fellow 107 brought up something called, "Drone Mapping" which I looked up and seems really cool. I just wonder is it something that would really get used and in a case like this could it do most of the work for you here and all you would primarily have to do is the inside job?
On larger scale mapping is great, but for something like this using a free software is the way to go.
Subscribed! Thank you for this great video. Never mind the negative comments. I would like to try this. Quick question. Can you see any advantages with the Mini 3 Pro over the Mini 3 for what you're doing here? I'm going to pick one up soon and don't really want to spend extra money if it's not cost effective.
Great insight, thank you!
Appreciate you and the way that you explained everything, and being straight to the point. I currently have a dji fpv to capture footage. I used to have a spark, I really liked the following features, and the other features were cool too. I started looking at the mini 3 pro or the Mavic 2 pro with the screen controls...tbh I really want an m30 but it seems to be a bit overrated 😆 🤣 for the travel vids I do
Thanks for the video Dylan. One thing I noticed though, with the 360 video, is that behaves differently on a phone than it does on anything with a bigger screen. If you stay on the project website, the 360 vid is "fishbowl" and you have no control over the view. However, when you open it in KZhead, then the view is normal but the only way to change the perspective is by moving the phone around! I set up my own sample project site to show to prospective clients. I noticed this happening with the 360 vid and thought I had done something wrong until I went back and checked your project site. Not a show stopper and I haven't checked it on a larger "pro" phone either.

There’s also learning curve for all these softwares, cost of fly licence, course, cost (time) of planning the flight ahead, applying for permits where needed, acquiring client, and so on. On top of acquiring all the equipment. Meanwhile one’s gotta eat and pay rent.
