I rebuilt a destroyed Porsche 718 Cayman s that i bought at auction & in the last video i took it to Porsche to let them inspect my repairs. But there was a few things that needed sorting & also Porsche themselves made a mistake which also needed to be sorted immediately. I then challenge the more expensive GT4 to see which car is faster..

Respect to Porsche / Porsche Solihull. Many manufacturers wouldn’t entertain this, but i honestly believe Matt is bringing positive promotion to Porsche through his work recently - can only be a good thing!
I will go to solihul for any repairs or services
He's built that relationship
First time seeing someone working well with the dealership. What a genius level.
Respect to Porsche and their team to entertain and guide Mat.
not at all, a company that don't tell you how to fix your car is not a good company. why not tell people how to fix there own car as they own it not the company but i guess if you think thats a good thing your part of a problem a long with them.
Fair play to that Porsche garage for letting you guys in to film. Most of these places will still be close minded but this garage seems to know the exposure they get from your channel can only be a good thing!
They asked the subscribers count Well... thats free advertising. Bring it on
@@Carlos.Rivera I'd rather spend my money someplace that'll level with me than try to nickel and dime on EVERYTHING and won't actually let me get involved with MY car. Kudos to this Porsche dealership for dropping trou and showing the world the goods (as much as Porsche will let them).

Porsche approach to this rebuild is really impressive. Nice people at the dealership.
while i don't trust any major car brand, prosche often goes a long way to honour real brand enthusiasm. they also still service ancient porsche tractors with the same customer service as a recently bought car. they made an ad about that but ppl confirmed they actually do still keep the service specs for these
Fabulous work Mat. Fair play to Porsche for supporting you. They could have thrown you out of the garage but could see the benefit of collaboration as you would have done it anyway. Your rebuilds are epic and great entertainment 😊👍
Also, Porsche got quite a few 💷💷💷💷💷 for the work they did. 👍
This entire car rebuild - Porche's attitude to it - and both parties commitment to get it back as good as the car could be are just brilliant. I love it.
Totally! Cudos to them, a lot better than mclaren dealing with Tavarish rebuild.
@@lucasbim You could say Porsche as a company has a culture of loving cars. Not many companies would be this on-board with getting a wreck back on the road.

I think it's great that Porsche was so hands on and allowed you to work with them multiple times. Porsche looks like they have great customer service!
You can never eliminate risk. You did a great job of fixing a wreak.

As opposed to the US dealers on the other project… amazing result. Love the content!
I’m sorry but……ONLY if your face fits!
I've had 8 porsches since 1997 and the latest two TurboS have been a disgrace. They are not up to the job whatsoever and are nothing but a quarter mile gadget now. I should have known to leave them when they went with the electric steering. Proper porsche guys left the brand at that point as they knew something was up. Ohh how I should have listened to them over all the quarter mile monkeys on youtube etc. Ohh and by the way my oldest R1 a 5vy model from 2004-2006 could catch and pass my own TurboS's at Crail raceway quarter mile no joke, even on the unprepped surface in sub 10deg track temp 15 ambient mugged me in my TurboS with my cousin riding my R1, i then jumped on the R1 and my mate took my TurboS as he was as fast as me in it and re-ran it another bunch and i managed to beat my own TurboS on my oldest sportsbike I own that is approximately £5k to buy now. Kind of spoils it when the hype behind the TurboS was that it was a legitimate reliable 10sec car. It isn't, it definitely isn't, it's barely on the 10 second page in the big bible of what is what does. I also got whooped at Knockhill by anything resembling a 400hp track ready car and an early Lotus Evora beat me around knockhill for fun it danced around me at the bend before the pit straight like I was in a yaught.
and it sounded sooo cheap LOL .. Porche dealer in Denmark HUH I dont even wanna talk about that price
that's bc he's spending a lot of money at the stealership
Great work on that Porsche! Glad to see some one not being afraid of doing extensive work on this type of cars! Folowing all your builds.
Awesome! Love everything about this, and congratulations on the outcome of your amazing effort! This is very inspirational!
Massive credit to Porsche Solihull for being part of the video, that says a lot about this dealership and service department - professionals and enthusiasts! Nice work Matt the car looks amazing! I was a bit worried about this one. 😂
same! was worried but having the orignal compan help makes this car so much more worth imo
I love how he's shocked that a part from Porsche is 115. Here I am replacing parts on a 2003 hyundai santa fe and its $170 for a rear control arm haha.
i was thinking that too. 300 dollars isnt cheap but practically 150 for each of the lower arms? on a porsche!?!?! i wouldnt even think twice about it seems cheap to me for a porsche lol
Facts I was like damn only 115?
Because you guys forget Porche is in Volkswagen Group, sharing parts with others in group (Audi, Bugatti, Lambo, Bentley, etc.)is good for customer.
Yeah I did a near nut-and-bolt on a 986, and everything basic was over £100 each, and that was for a car that was over 15 years old.
I was expecting 700-1k
Dude, ur such a good influence on KZhead n I believe u deserve all ur success. Good luck with ur future Matt n excited to see more of ur content
I know it's sacrilege but I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, I prefer the looks of the Cayman to the 911. It's sleeker and more modern and you've done an absolutely astounding job with this example.
And supposedly a better drive given the mid engine as opposed to rear.
a cayman gt4 RS with weissach package an carbon hood is gorgeous
Especially with a Cayman S only costing 18.5k £. I am now thinking about getting one too.
@@Kevin-bl6lg A wrecked Cayman S costing 18.5k
“Porsche want to see it again because there could be something potentially dangerous”. “But in the meantime I’m going to make it faster”. Classic.
That Cayman S is such a gorgeous vehicle, you seriously knocked it out of the park, Mat.
Twice! Once before the repair!
The marks up the door could have come from the recovery straps to flip the car back over. If the buckles from the ratchet straps were at door level, that would cause that damage.
I agree with most everyone here. Nice content, nice work and you don't make those of us who can't do what you do feel bad. Bravo!
Love seeing the lengths Porsche goes to keep their name/integrity upheld. Worked in a shop that was shared JLR/Porsche that had these very nice walkway carpets at the entrance with the brand logos on them. Porsche Corporate paid a visit to the dealer one day, stopped dead in their tracks when they saw those carpets and said something along the line of "those are not approved, no one steps on the Porsche name, get them out of here"...management had someone roll them up immediately, little something I'll never forget.
You know I wasn't actually a massive Porsche fan before this car came along on your channel, but it has turned out so beautiful! Props to you - this was one heck of a project.

you shouldnt be. This is the dealership showing their absolute best to a 1 mil+ sub youtuber, not an average joe without any influence on the internet. You would be treated like garbage, as the vast majority of normal buyers are, and probably wouldnt have been able to even film in the facility. The cars are over priced, last very little compared to other sports cars, and the parts cost insane amounts.

Congratz man, that car looks absolutely sick
Great work there matt - but a big part of your performance advantage is having the PDK instead of the manual that's in the GT4.
Yeah but it doesn’t change the price difference in the cars, just shows that sometimes you literally paying for a brand on a brand
The GT 4 wasn’t turned to death but good work Matt
I have the PDK in mine and is quicker than i can manually shift.
@@Tony_3d_ Yes there is extra price attached to the GT stuff but you’re not paying for the fastest track speed when you buy a manual car. Any sensible person would know that a manual is slower. If you only care about speed then PDK is the way to go.
Also didn’t Matt replace all the tires? New tires make a big difference Plus if the Gt4 has PS2 they need to be properly warmed up 😅
Great to see you finally have the Cayman S all dialed in, was fantastic to see it beat the GT4. One thing I really love about your rebuilds Mat is that you always go through and fix all the small issues and clear all your codes, I see too many re-builders who pretend these do not exist.
That's incredible. 1/5 the price, but faster. That has to feel so incredible after putting so much work into it. Great video.
seeing u so happy abt ur cars makes me smile 😊
Surely tie rods would have been one of the first things to replace after a crash 😅

I think the extra torque really was the MVP of the track test
Don't forget the PDK
It was all in the gearbox! PDK is magnitudes quicker than the manual both in a straight line and around the track.
@@pcsullog Yes, that's part of what I meant by quicker. I have a manual Cayman and the gearing is painfully painfully long on public roads. Top of second is breaking all the speed limits so you don't get to bang gears 😭
@@JamesClimbs As a corvette owner I share your pain, top speed in 1st gear is 90km/h

I'm not a car guy but even to me that looked very impressive. The amount of time your team put in to this car was definitely outstanding I've tried panelbeating and it takes alot out of a person and y'all made it look like child's play.
I fixed up a front end on a car when I was 19 the panel gaps never did fit back perfectly even with countless hours put into it. looked great but nowhere close to what they have. Couldn’t imagine the amount of work and effort to get that car to look like it does after that wreck and it was all sides 😂😂 wild
@@jacobmitchell9227 tesla have way worse panel gaps than that porche from factory 😂
@@marinesole2 and never let people forget about it!!
@@jacobmitchell9227 for panel gaps use paint stick stirs 😁
I don't understand why he would make the cosmetics perfect before having the mechanical inspection by Porsche. Take off all the panels, mark what you know needs replacing, then tow it there on a trailer for them to inspect the mechanical while everything is easily visible. You would have seen these damaged parts and then known if it's worth continuing and maybe decided to save some money somewhere lese on the build. What if they found critical damage that was not so simple to fix?!
Wonderfull cooperation with Porche to make such a video 🙏🏻
I'm not a fan of sports cars, but sir Mat, you really impressed me by restoring and even enhancing the vehicles. I truly salute you. I'm from the Philippines. I've subscribed to your channel, and I always watch it to unwind after work. I hope you create more videos like this.

it's contagious and so positive and he giggles like he's some school girl, I just crack up. I am hooked.
Amazing how Porsche let you in and film the story. They show you respect. Well done. Love your Cayman S btw
Of course they did for marketing...
Camry ;)
Ferrari would have NEVER done that.
@@Chakidaki you didn't see the end of the video... Basically showed you shouldn't buy the 90k gt4 because you can modify a cheaper Porsche. Not really the best advertising for Porsche tbh.
@@RJA The average new Porsche buyer isn't about modding their car. Now if he showed you can do financials crimes and coke just was well in the cheapest Porsche, they would have aporblem with that.

I'm super happy for you, and to watch when you give back.. that's a real treat!! I hope that if you see this it makes your day..
Great work Mat, think the lighter 4 cylinder also helped. Love Porsche for their support too. The Cayman is underrated as is the boxster but the engines are mid mounted. They 4 wheel drift when pushed to the limit, perfectly balanced and great fun to drive and own
Congratulations for this build! It looked as though the GT4 had a manual shifter and the Cayman S a PDK. If that’s so, it would not be such a fair comparison… Cheers!
Especially in the drag race.
agree.... but the manual seemed to be launching beautifully
You are getting there Mat, with ups and downs, new problems to be solved and with new content we can enjoy. Keep it up, brother!
Matt did it his way, that's what we like
Mat came through🔥 The GT4 did well considering it is a manual. It is the car I would have 😊
Keep it up bruv! You 100% super real and encouraging
love videos like this showing us the potential Ability of the cars u build with some mods
Respect Matt !! Well done ! This brought a tear to my eyes , what a proud proud moment ! Beautiful make over too ! Nice one Matt .... incredible!
Great stuff Matt. The GT4 with the manual is going to struggle with the automatic Cayman in the drag race now that they have similar power, and it’s probably heavier as it has the 6 cylinder, but you’ve built another great car. 👏
The Cayman S also had 505nm of torque after the tune, vs 400nm of the GT4. That will pull it out of the corners significantly faster across a broader range of gear ratio's. Now if we let the tuning guy at the GT4 and it's 6cyl motor, things might flip back the other way 😂
@tosgem this guy gets it
@@tosgem well and still the gt4 would cost so much more then the rebuild s version :)
Yeah for the value of 70,000 lb difference, the cayman is better and was also customized better if you did it your self, manual can beat automatic because it can grab corners better and has better response time the torque makes a difference too
@@Johnny-yx2qx 70k than the gt4 you could even put in a custom specialized sequential transmission with billet 2.7 sleeved block for 500hp and still have left over change.
