I feel bad for Warren. It wasn't his fault.
He could've just said "Emma Stone . . . .. wait, i don't think this is the right envelope" and it wouldn't have crushed La La Land Producers' dreams. He was afraid to look stupid, so he said nothing.
junior bet right? he looked so sad...
junior bet really?? I feel bad for the producer of La La land makes it feel like they just rubbed it in his face
Ehhh... I agree for the most part, but... while it's mostly the fault of the person in charge of the envelopes, Warren stood there confused for a good 10-15 seconds knowing there was an issue & chose to say nothing about it. He's not *completely* innocent.
Ofc it wasn't, he wasn't the one to say La la land. Neither is it Fayes (spelling?) fault. Warren obviously showed the card to her cause he was confused and wanted help from her, but she thought he was stalling so she just read the first thing she saw.
Faye pulled off the greatest magic trick of all time. Not only did she disappear in front of our eyes, she disappeared from everyone's memory for the whole night because everyone was blaming Warren Beatty like he read the card.
D. Foxx Yes!!! Finally someone said it!
D. Foxx yeah Faye Runaway after the mixed up, that moment that Warren looks confused and handed her the enveloped, she just read it right away without noticing the Emma Stone on it. how was that happened when you are supposed to see the bigger word of a movie title written on it.
Billy G. Exactly
I know! I kept reading in post gaffe articles that Beatty read the wrong thing and I am just like, pretty sure that was Faye that shouted La La Land! while Warren stood there confused as hell. There was a lot of blame to go around but mostly with the person who handed Beatty the card.
EXACTLY! I was so pissed! Cuz it was obvious he didn't even want to read that thing out loud because something was fishy... And Faye blurts it out happy and proud, yet every single person kept picking on Beatty! :o
We all know Matt Damon was behind this
The irony of Damon's plot is that it meant that they would run out of time for him and Kimmel to close the telecast.
愛するマンガ ... haha...well good for Matt Damon. He didn't fit in with these people because he has way more class than any of them. Kimmel calling Damon a looser! What a joke!
Maria Arreola you do realise its a running joke they have?
Looool
😂😂
Nobody should be held responsible for this mess except for the guys who handed Warren the wrong envelope.
replaybb718 I think you are wrong Warren as soon as he didn’t see Moonlight he should have say instead of giving Faye’s card say People I have an announcement to make I have the wrong card is just simple why he couldn’t say that since he knew Moonlight was winning he should have stop and ask for the right Card
Supernamek2121 they don't know who will win or do they?
Supernamek2121 nobody except for the academy, managers and producers for the show know who are winning. So Warren and Faye has no fault in this at all. And like he explained, Warren was confused cause the card said “Emma Stone - La La Land” instead of just “La La Land” or “Moonlight” which makes sense cause that’s what’s in the card for Best actress. Best picture should just have, the title of the movie and not the actors. It was the managers faults for putting the wrong card in the wrong envelope.
Supernamek2121 Warren and Faye didn’t know who would win. It was not his fault at all. The announcers only know who wins when they read the card
@@lifeofjonesi I siiiii oí un you uixGCguzZzxzf vhigggu IxZoz
i can sense warren was trembling when he appologized, poor warren... nobody blame you :)
Tenderlicious well they shouldn't have
I agree, I at first blamed his age, like I honestly thought the man was either drunk as hell or had dementia. I feel bad now. Noone blames you, well, now anyway
Risky Bisky well he did get blamed search his name on google all you could see is him getting blamed
Risky Bisky blamed him but now that you know the whole story you know it wasn't his fault.
We now know he was handed the wrong envelope by the careless accountant backstage. But Warren obviously knew something was wrong and instead of thinking on his feet and maybe saying something, he handed the envelope to Faye (maybe because she was accusing him of being awful - but still). Either one of them could have saved the day. It was the envelope-handlers' fault, though: I read the New York Post and New York Daily News' stories this morning. I do feel bad for Warren, though.
It’s just an award show. They’re all still rich.
Lol after all my scrolling in this comment section, this is my favorite one
So bitter
So true 😂
Not the Moonlight people tho, they're independent
Not really, the cast of la la land got the recognition they didn’t win so it was unfair period. White people🙄
Yall talking about yall feel bad for La La Land. But I feel bad for Moonlight. The whole mix up stole their moment. They didn't get to get that experience that they deserved and earned. Now everyone is talking about the mix up more than how great of a movie Moonlight is and it's upsetting. Because rather than talking about what should be talked about, everyone is talking about the mix up. So this whole mix up stole Moonlights shine.
Savano Wise bingo
at least they had better experience than the producers of la la land
I disagree. This was one of the more memorable wins in Oscar history.
period.
Yeah but who cares it’s just a bunch of rich assholes praising each other
Just imagine, in a perfect world, Warren Beatty was handed the "best actor" card by accident and read 'Manchester by the sea' for best picture, which means Matt Damon would've been one of the producers accepting the Oscar, and Kimmel would've had to take away Matt Damon's Oscar
Hgo S perfect
That would been worse, in a good way for Kimmerl i guess... xD
No one would have ever believed Kimmel, if it was just a mix-up.
OMG yes!!
UKRSHEV Exactly!
I feel like he was showing her the card like, 'This isn't right. What do we do?'
Renita Yeah, she clearly read it in a hurry because Warren took such a long time. Right after she announced La La Land, he tells her "It says 'Emma Stone'!" - you can hear it.
Renita me too
He knew it was wrong and threw faye une der the bus .He should have said he had the wrong card first
Yep, exactly.
But he had already said into the mic "And the winner is" so from her perspective of course she was going to read it
"Craziest Oscars Ever" Will Smith just stole this moment hahaha
stoled
So has Dune
Boy! Hahahaha
I wonder if Emma Stone ever apologized for basically calling Warren Beatty a liar.
I feel like she is a very arrogant person. So probably not.
Emma Stone is not gonna win any Oscar awards after this..... even though she knew she cause the drama. very immature talk
kaduzy Why would she? She had the card!
@@EuroGuy85 she basically accused him of lying in front of the press. She sounded so arrogant.
But she didn’t know the cards come in sets of two. So I think at that point she was probably trying to figure out what happened. And she jumped right into press after the whole debacle
Jimmy Kimmel took care of that situation well...if it was Jimmy Fallon, he wouldve fake laughed his way through everything
xItsBB fallon is an idiot.
Lena Vivi wtf james corden is amazing stfu
xItsBB that's true He looks mad asf.
James corden fake laughs idiot.
xItsBB haha so true
I think Jimmy gained some gray hairs over this
Sir Waffles he gained more gray hairs than Obama in eight years
George than palpatine in 3 movies
Sir Waffles first time saw him mad.
Sir Waffles yeah Jimmy was one uptight ass ○ last night so much you could see it so afraid of messing up He really didn't have fun until Warren messed up I bet he never does it again
this would never of happened if Ricky Gervais was the host
Imagine if instead of best actress they were handed best actor, so Manchester by the Sea gets called out, so producer Matt Damon goes up to collect, and in the middle of his speech Jimmy Kimmel has to interrupt that this is a mistake, and everyone thinks its staged cause its Damon and Kimmel...
kinda wish that happened
Poor Warren Beatty. First the LaLa Land producer angrily snatches the envelope from his hand because he thinks it's Warren's fault. Then Warren gets blamed for throwing Dunaway under the bus but it looks to me like he's hoping she'll join him in his search for help. He didn't know she was gonna blurt out the first thing she read. And he didn't stop the chaos because he was probably hoping LaLa Land was the actual winner. Yup, I have no life.
BullyBully he the only thing that he needed to do was as soon as he didn’t saw anything related to moonlight he instead of given her the card just take the microphone and People I have the wrong card is like he didn’t even read that his card award was for best actress and not picture like for me he is the responsible since before he was even Handed the card he already knew Moonlight was going to win and I blame him. He he didn’t even read the card he as if only he took time just to rise a little up the card so he could see that this was not the the best picture award but it was the best actres for me if he only read his damn card he would I Immediatel say out Loud People I have an announcement to make and it is I have the wrong Card but no instead of saying that before saying the name is on he just let thing happen he could easily avoid this by as soon as he saw Emma Stone name he should ask with the Mic on his mouth give me the right Card
@Supernamek2121 Oh, and how many Oscars have you hosted, mate?
😭😢😔
I felt so bad for Warren. When someone shouts: "They read the wrong thing!" at 3:10, he is standing there so embarrassed and uncomfortable. The way La La Land's producer grabbed the envelope from his hand was just rude and then thanks to Emma's story everyone assumes that Warren was lying. I read comments on the internet from people saying stuff like: "That's what happens when you let these old people present" and it made me even sadder. It wasn't their fault. And it was also the 50 year anniversary of "Bonnie and Clyde", it was supposed to be a great moment for them presenting the Best Picture award and being back on that stage. Idk I just wanna give them a hug.
I agree. I felt so bad for Warren Beatt. He is a very well respected and extremely accomplished actor, director and producer. Half the people in that audience Never even saw "Bonnie and Clyde". It was a fantastic movie. The real dopes are the people who not only handed him the envelope, but the people who created the overwrought easy to misunderstand printing, fonts, coloring, etc. on the presenter's cards! It is the first time they are reading this, on a show watched by millions around the world. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway managed to read the correct information off the TelePrompTer. These are 2 seasoned show biz veterans. How come they were not handed a card that was easy to read and comprehend and written in the style of a cue card? The card looked like a wedding invitation. That's nice, but for an extemporaneous on air announcement it was poor judgement. Next year - just the facts in plain narrative so presenters and recipients will not be confused. The producers are to blame for not proofreading the envelope before giving it to the presenter and they are also to blame for not creating something that was clearly legible - rather than an envelope that looked like a price of gift wrap and a card that read like a party invitation. Very unprofessional. Warren Beatty - who some may think was a doddering old man - was the REAL pro in the house.
Lightgreen I agree and why would he lie about it and also he didn't even read the card and obviously it wouldn't make sense to think they "accidently" said the wrong name when those 2 movies are spelled completely different. Emma Stone was rude about it with her comment, when it happened I immediately thought that there must be 2 sets of cards. Don't know why she didn't think that.
Lightgreen Yeah but they could thought that if the card said Emma Stone they had a WRONG card. Why they just didn't asked for the right card before saying anything?? Everybody feels bad for Warren but anybody feels bad for La La Land producers! Everybody is calling that man rude but he just wanted to proof to the audience that the right card says "Moonlight". He was not rude at all and they were humilliated in front of everybody.
The producer wasn't being rude, he just wanted to get it over with for correction's sake. It was embarrassing enough to see something like this unfold for at least all involved. Wasn't anyone's fault other than the people that was supposed to give them the right card.
Lightgreen You're so compassionate lol. They'll be fine.
Well somebody should apologize to Warren for snatching that card off his hand
CD ROM you tell em Mclovin
Enough already about the card snatching! Beatty is a grown man. He'll be fine
Nope. The correct winners needed to get on stage ASAP, and nobody seemed sure what to do. He was the one taking quick action and first saying, then proving with that correct card that Moonlight was the actual winner.
Tuulia Moors I understand that but he didn't have to grab the card out of his hands, it wasn't his fault
He didn't do it because he was upset at Beatty; he was just trying to diffuse the situation as quickly as possible, by showing everyone the proof that Moonlight was the de facto winner and that it wasn't a joke. In his rush to do so, he snatched the card. But yeah, I can see why Beatty might have felt like people blamed him.
Everyone handled it amazingly except Emma Stone... can't understand why she would accuse them of making up a "story". It was obviously a huge mistake that everyone felt terrible about.
Jimmy did not handle it amazingly
Felt pretty racist to me. Netflix has a docuseries "They've Gotta Have Us" that speaks to racism in Hollywood. It hides well. Maybe none of the presenters were involved, no one knows. It's possible is all I'm saying.
Tanisha Campbell everything is racist though isn’t it....even envelopes
captain Cracker your right not everything is racist but jimmy kimmels comment was a little sus same with Emma’s
100% she pissed me off more than anything. He literally didn’t read the card bc he knew something was wrong and then she decided to blame him for it for no reason. That was really disgusting on her part
Denzel seems to be the shining light in every Oscars situation
yeah 5 year later, after the Wife slap too. I see some kind of Patten
Yeah but he spent time counselling Will and didn't even check on Chris so how much of a shining light really? Just like everyone else, left Chris abandoned
Wasn't Warren's fault
Michael Medcalf If only he said this card is wrong.
if the idiot who gave Warren thewrong card was doing his job, instead of being star struck, and thinking he is Matt Damon's look-alike, then we would have nothing to talk about.
His name was brian cullinan from pricewaterhouse. He was too busy tweeting a photo of emma stone backstage and handed the wrong envelope. The day before he was bragging how they have been doing it for 80 yrs without any errors, etc. Looks like Karma caught up. He should be fired
Warren and Dunaway are not at fault. the PW guy who made is mistake will not make the same mistake again. He's only human, it's time for people to let it go. It's just a freaking awards show. the right people got their award. No harm has been done.
Commercial Communication Id say he wont be making the same mistake because whoever made the mistake probably lost their job that evening
At least Matt Damon lost
Arnoldo Guerra both this and the Great Wall box office
I'm still shocked by his humility and allowing Casey to play the lead. I would never expect that from him.
^^^ well, Casey is Ben's brother and I am sure Ben has helped Matt in one way or another.
Sparks Yeah. He snuck Matt into Jimmy Kimmel's Oscars after party last year.
lmao U is smart
lol thank god Denzel was there to make sense
He’s a handy guy to have around. He’d already officiated the marriage of that couple from the tour!
I agreed with him. I was like all these people up there trying to apologize and they just need to let the folks from moonlight make their speeches.
I love how Jimmy just walks up all confused, looking around him like "wtf am I gonna do" at 3:03
Everybody kinda reacted wrong except Warren. He was a true gentleman, trying to explain his misery but nobody let him talk. That bald guy just took the card away from his hand, Jimmy scolded him and was like "what did you do?", Faye just disappeared. Emma saying she has nothing to do with it. Everybody was so rude. Poor man, i just wanted to hug him in that moment :(
Right! He probably knew he was gonna get hate for this, he knew the truth of what happened (that he had a card saying "La La Land") and could be angry cause whoever made the mistake made it look like his fault, and still he kept it cool and so nice and went on with Jimmy's jokes of "What did you do??" and everything, trying to help Jimmy keep the show funny and calm. Very chivalrous in my opinion.
laila1989ism Also, Jimmy was very obviously being sarcastic and joking when he asked Warren "what did you do?"
Max Loelius Of course he was just joking but still...It looked like everybody blamed Warren in that moment (and is still doing it). I loved Jimmys hosting though, and when he said "actually i blame myself for this, don't worry i'm never coming back, i knew i would screw this up" etc i was very impressed that he tried to keep it cool. It's nobody's fault tbh. Just the one person who gave the wrong envelope. But i'm pretty sure we'll never get to know who that was. People just search for someone to hate and this time it is a totally innocent man who didn't know what to do because in that moment of chaos he was just confused, which is understandable considering the circumstances.
laila1989ism Jimmy was trying to make it go easy. The old man was confident, and handled it well. The Lala land producer was trying to be nice while angry inside, and that's why he snatched the card away, I guess.
hey I make funny videos please go and check out my channel I work so hard to make videos
Bonnie and Clyde still doing illegal things
The real Bonnie and Clyde were shot to death in their car after being betrayed by someone they knew.
barbaro Likely because they read the wrong envelope. Rookie mistake in the criminal world
William Donovan The Bonnie and Clyde Theme.
+Vamanos Ninja lol
Non stop even after 50 years. I look up to them now.
I like how he said Faye read the wrong name and made a getaway, she didn't stick around at all! lol
I still don't like the way that bald man took the paper from warren , come on man! That's Warren !
the old Man who's one of the announcer of the winner a.k.a Clyde Barrow in the movie Bonnie and Clyde
The bald man was boiling up inside after finding out that they didn't actually win.
Me too....
I think he was adrenaline fueled and it just made him more aggressive.
Guy upset thought hed won. Made a speech to family n'all. hahaaaaaaaa
Probably 200% increase in Jimmy Kimmel Live views tonight just to see Jimmy explain what happened
K Lof It was setup. DUH.
How could it be a setup? WHY would it be a setup? To get the ratings? ITS FREAKING OSCAR! And it's a humiliation for both parties (La La Land and The Oscars).
Nick Hayes DUH. 1. Views/PR 2. It was so obvious. The music played instantly (which is impossible since the conductor would have been instructed to play the Moonlight theme so there HAD to be a delay.) ALSO, It just HAPPENED to be the La La Land card, which was the only other option to win. Seriously, wake up.
Nick Hayes Are you really that brainwashed into thinking they're above that? Think again.
Burgundy You're really so ignorant to think that a mistake can't happen. This ruined the Oscar group trust and The music doesn't play until the whole Cast and Crew men are on stage but by that time the Music guys must of thought they were wrong so they quickly changed the song
Fact is: It wasn't Warren's fault
nope it was the star struck idiot from PWC, for not doing the ONE JOB he had to do that night. He thought he was the star of the show before the ceremony, and he screwed it up, big time. Possibly enough that the company will "suffer" from this poor publicity.
no such thing as bad publicity
I think the way the guy snatched the card off Warren was so rudeeeeeeeeeee,
It definitely wasn't Warren's fault, but I also don't blame Faye either. She wasn't expecting the card to be wrong. It's never wrong. So she saw a movie title and said it. All the blame goes to the PwC guy. But I hear they banned both the PwC people from ever returning.
+Mirin Brah Yeah, it seems he was busy taking a photo of Emma Stone in the press room and tweeting it - since deleted - which probably explains why he neglected to move *his* (unused - well, to that point) Best Actress card to the bottom of his stack.
After listening to this and what happened over the weekend it’s obvious that Denzel is the most caring reason of voice in Hollywood
Everyone realizes that the Faye was the one who said it. Not Warren.
I know I am late...but its not Warren and Faye fault...how could they manage at the spot of the moment if officials gave wrong envelope...both are confused ....blame the Oscar officials
I'm pretty sure Warren Beatty was trying to show Faye Dunaway that the card was wrong...but she didn't realise and just blurted it out!
That's exactly what I think too. He wanted to concur with her that the card was wrong - but instead she though he was joking and read the film name out loud. I think of ANYONE who is being called out: PriceWaterhouse, Faye, or Warren... Mr. Beatty is the LEAST at fault.
Nonsense. If that were the case, he wouldn't have said into the mic "And the Winner Is..." That's going to prompt someone to believe they want you to say it.
Daniel Mumford She was thinking he was playing around, which you could see with her getting annoyed
Yeah, I got the same impression. It was like Warren was trying discreetly to make her she the mistake, but she thought that Warren was trying to build suspense and she instantly spelled the name out.
Classic chick move.
That producer from La La la needs more praise tbh, he was smart , decisive and handled the situation impeccably, more so than Kimmel and the rest of the people on stage standing around clueless. Him holding up the card saying Moonlight was needed as well so everyone could see it was real. Hats off to that guy.
Glenuig Exactly. I don't mind that he snatched the card from Warren at all, he wanted to get off the stage ASAP and Warren was just standing there.
IKR!!! Everyone is like "waaah, he's so aggressive, waaah he snatched the card" WTF was he supposed to do then, sit around foolishly like everyone else?
Glenuig it wasn't his position to do so. Kimmel WOULD have resolved the situation, but that guy did it first. he handled it well, but I think he could have waited for Jimmy.
Totally, he made it a CLEAR moment - I was thinking..."someone raised that guy well." Producer indeed.
Very gracious and decisive...That man deserves a toast.
It wasn't Warren or Faye's fault! It was the Production Team's fault!
Absolutely...
@@hemaayer889 IKR?
TOTALLY!
After this incident you will notice that, in every next oscar events, academy wrotes indvidiual category name in huge capital letters on envelope....😅
Steve Harvey should be very proud
lol for sure :)) he said he's free at last
well, not really. Steve Harvey was given the *right* envelope and he messed up by reading the wrong line. Warren Beaty was given the *wrong* envelope and he hesitate to read it out loud and hand it over to Faye.
That's the funniest part of it all(lmao), handing the envelope over to Faye. Then she gets the hell out of there. Too funny.. Is it just me, or does Faye Dunaway and Michelle Pfeiffer look even sexier than when I first seen them? And I was in my teens! I got off track but thought I'd ask while it was crossing my mind.
"I have to apologize now. The runner up is la la land, the winner is moonlight!"
Nice Pic
But I still wish I saw that ending with Matt Damon though
Blerta Bytyqi yep. sounds interesting
It would have been funnier if they had mixed up Best Makeup instead of Best Actress, and Suicide Squad won Best Picture
Yeah lol he was probably gonna say "Apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time." Lol
Dhe un qe ndenja zgjuar gjithe naten :/
Blerta Bytyqi I know. Denied so sad
It's funny to look back on this now.... one thing I noticed in one of the last Oscar broadcasts, is that they have the name of the award printed in BIG letters on the outside of the envelope now, instead of the tiny print from this night.
Yeah. They learn from their mistake.
That screw up totally took the energy out of the win for moonlight. They really deserved a better presentation and moment
I wish they had stopped the whole thing before La La Land's producers gave their speeches. That was really humiliating. 🙈🙈
Best picture is......EMMA STONE
It actually makes sence.
Logically speaking yeah that's what it meant.
Well, could have assumed they put the name of the star of the film too. Not so crazy... when billion people waiting for you and you assume pricewaterhouse cooper doesn’t mess up about something so simple
winky face hehe
So, since Emma Stone had stressed that she didn't try to pull off a prank by switching the envelope, it's safe to assume that Bonnie & Clyde were just being cheeky...
La La Land producers were absolute class acts! So shattered for them but they conducted themselves so amazingly in defeat although it’s so heart warming to see such genuine and understanding character being shown from rival film makers to one another, once again - absolute class! Jimmy was outstanding aswell as always👍
Denzel always save the day 😂😂
Jimmy seems like the most humble guy the way he managed that situation. "I'm stnading there like an idiot, feeling bad for these guys, but also trying really hard not to laugh"
Gotta like a person who owns his mistakes. That's the true test of leadership.
LieberBecksBier alsShakespeare lol right amd the jokes!!! how he mentioned steve Harvey lol it was comedy and really made it less awkward
LieberBecksBier alsShakespeare he kinda was a douche to the guy
I think Warren was handing the card over to Faye not to read but because he was confused and wanted her to see why. However, she just read off the card without even stopping to question why it said "best actress Emma Stone" on it. If any fault lies with them I would say it mostly lies with Faye. Warren did question what the card said and I'm sure he would have said something if Faye questioned it too instead of just reading it.
Melo I suppose that Faye only looked for the term La La Land and didn't 'saw' the rest of the card
Melo it wasn't Faye's fault either. It was the guy who handed Warren and Faye the card in the first place .Geez
so you don´t blame a guy for not been able to speak out what´s in front of him but a woman who probably just read the title of the movie. you can see that she was thinking that he tried to exaggerate the tension (what happens quite often at those shows)...i think they re both not to blame for that but human error behind the stage
Um... no. It is the people who handed them the envelope. They were just doing their job which was to read the name off the card. The accounting company even admitted that the whole fiasco was their fault.
Melo no man Faye though he wanted her to read it. Simple. Maybe she though he was having a hard time seeing it. Maybe when she saw the card all she saw was the movie name and said it. Don't pin the blame all on her m8.
Love La La Land producer reaction is amazing. After giving his speech and everything he is still so cool about it, and feels like they are truly happy for them
Respect Warren. You behaved so well. in a difficult situation.
I feel sorry for Warren. Being in such an embarrassing situation. It wasn't his fault and he was man enough to explain why he was hesitated in announcing the winner and not making jokes. But the way the producer took the card from his hand, I think that was little inappropriate, but can't blame him. He seemed frustrated. I wish they didn't give that winning speech. I really feel sad for them.
He was just showing the evidence. No big deal
I did not see it like that. To me the producer was only trying to prove already it wasn't a joke
Diego de la Vega, I wonder why Faye didn't get the blame. She said it..
+Diego de la Vega Hollywood wanted to let Trump be a joke, but God let Hollywood become a joke first 😄
How hard is it to read a card?
I want to see the ending that was supposed to happen with Matt Damon
It was never filmed
Skylord Guillaume I know; I just wanted to know how they would end the show together and to see more of the feud because it never gets old
Ya haha would've been funny. Sucks this had to happen instead. Because Kimmel was SUCH a great host...and now this drama is all everyone will remember of the night. At least more people will see Moonlight! :)
Boss man it's a really long-running joke; Kimmel said in an interview that he was feeling down about his show (the people weren't that famous) so he said "Apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time" for fun. He kept doing it and apparently Damon thought it was funny and kept telling him to do it...which escalated into many, many priceless videos of the fake feud. Highly recommend searching them up
Erin Liang Unfortunately they didn't have time for it.
Turns out it was the accountant guy who was tweeting Emma Stone's pix when he was supposed to be focused on the last envelope of the night but instead gave Warren best actress card and thereby causing the giant mix up…guess he won't be back next year with that little briefcase of his.
One year ago today. Respect.
somewhere Steve Harvey is sitting with a big smile on his face
emk704 rubbing his hands like Birdman
Two wrongs don't make a right, Harvey is still an inattentive moron.
I have to say Jimmy handled this situation really well! Great Job!
Carlos Chen yeah Jimmy Fallon would have laughed randomly and done nothing
Carlos Chen- I didn't hear him say anything funny, maybe no cue cards were ready!
and start clapping his hands hoping he would magically end up somewhere else...
Haha You are right!
Kimmel was terrible, you actually hear him say to just keep the Oscar.
I think Jimmy Kimmel was wrong to suggest that Warren Beatty had some "clever" motive by showing Faye Dunaway the envelope. Clearly he was torn...he thought he saw a mistake, but he only seconds to decide what to do. On stage in front of a billion people, his pause seemed like an eternity. He showed it to Dunaway to get a second opinion...he might have felt more comfortable saying, "uh, I think we have the wrong card," if another person validated his doubts. Haven;t we all been in a situation where we have a very big stakes doubt, we're unsure, and we get a sanity check? To suggest that Beatty "threw Dunaway under the bus" is a really stinky example of assuming the worst about a person, when the alternative explanation makes perfect sense and in fact seems more probable. If Dunaway had balked, as Beatty was hoping, that would been the validation he needed, and he would have said, "wait folks, we might have the wrong envelope," before he read it. Dunaway also is blameless becasue she probably, under pressure, did not even read the other words on the card, she just saw the film title. I usually like Kimmel, but he is an ass to try to make Beatty look like a weasle. The people who screwed up were Price Waterhouse, and they are just humans, so give them a break too. It's not a big deal. Why try to create and cast weaselly motives onto people who were just doing there best under pressure?
I totally agree!!
Kimmel acted like a complete dork. Had no idea how to react, tried to cover it up with silly jokes on Warren Beatty's expense.
He was trying to defuse the situation, so in fact, he was helping Warren in a sense. It's obvious some people were angry and blaming Warren. It would've been nothing had everyone involved taken it graciously and laughed it off, but unfortunately some people (ie. Emma Stone), though justifiably upset, had to go and made a big deal out of it.
@cosmic86x We all know who the real prankster is and how this who mixup came about!
I bet Steve Harvey switched them up so we'd forget about him
Laura Sanchez But we didn't
That's right, just pin it on the black guy you racist.
Actually the opposite happened: after what happened at the Oscar everyone also talked about that time Steve Harvey messed up.
Palider I guess his plan didn't work out then lol
+Frank N. Stein you're the one who's being racist, stop that
Leonardo DiCaprio did it he was last seen with the envelope
Leonardo DiCaprio baited yourself out
+Leonardo DiCaprio Why do you talk about yourself in third person? That's weird, man.
Vader kills Dumbledore This is just a speculation, but I don't think that's the real Leonardo DiCaprio
+Vader kills Dumbledore So when elmo does it it is A-ok but when Leonardo DiCaprio does it it is weird? smh
Are you now gonna talk in third person?
At least nobody was slapped
that's crazy and hilarious! I'm glad it all got cleared up.
The La La Land producer wasn't gracious at all. He ripped the card right out of the wonderful Warren Beatty's hand as if Warren was too senile to read the card right.
Clair He's just lost an Oscar and made a speech thanking everbody and the dog he's just been humiliated, a snatched envelope was quite mild.
Olenna Tyrell he was a massive prick about it.
He ripped it out of his hands to show the crowd that Moonlight had one.
ripped it out of his wonderful hand? man you guys are sensitive. the one guy behind beatty kept trying to take it and beatty didnt know what to do (i dont blame him) so the producer just acted fast, took the envelope and announced the real winner. and said after that hes proud to give the award to them. What a prick!
The La La Land producer was wonderful. He took control of the chaotic situation and did what he could to correct the other people's mistake to get the real winners to the stage ASAP, and to hand over the Oscar mistakenly given to him. He was thinking quicker than anybody else on stage seemed to be - nobody seemed sure what the heck to do and the broadcast was about to end (the La La Land producers had already made their thank you speeches), and he was decisive and gracious and classy about what must have been a tough situation for him.
Craziest ever?!? Not anymore 😂
The second most flabbergasting moment in Oscar's history.
Last time I was this early La La Land still had the Best Picture award....
Gabriel Ferrari sooo you were this early yesterday...not very long.
recycled joke
Besides all the jokes, i think Jimmy did and excellent job coasting the oscars, and now i want to know how he would have ended the oscars with matt in the seats lol
Yea i know
Gabriel Ferrari am i too soon?
To the people saying "the bald dude" could've handled it more gracefully: if someone told you you'd just won the biggest award in your field, and IMMEDIATELY tells you it wasn't the case, you'd be hella pissy too.
Anyone else would be like "how could you fu*k that up?".
Agreed. His reaction was really justified. That would be me in that situation. I mean, this is the Oscars, how could that happen? I actually think everybody acted appropriately. Jimmy blamed himself, Warren apologized, the La La Land producer got angry, not because he lost, but because the situation was very ridiculous.
Bikin Film Yok! PETTY
Bikin Film Yok! IDK if you watched the show but after showing the moonlight card, he said he would glad to hand his award fo his friends from moonlight
Pathetic Excuse.
Jimmy did a great job!
At least nobody got...slapped..
i feel so bad for warren
Clearly Warren Beatty realised the mistake when he opened the envelope and he was checking if there was another card inside the envelope. Faye just saw La la land on it and announced it. One of those moments that can happen even at the Oscars. Only humans after all!
Warren clearly gave the envelope to Faye.
+Jolin Chou He didn't say anything, and she trusted his judgment.
Flyinghomeman you actually believe this was real man this was no one mistake till today for me this was scripted and Fake
@@Supernamek-rh2xv Oh yeah absolutely. PwC totally just wanted to prank themselves and take a huge hit on their stocks for a scripted finish.
jp3813 And
Title:Craziest Oscar ever! 2022 Oscars: am I a joke to you
So Denzel Washington is the one that always save the nigth for the Oscars...the Academy is in big debt with the Equalizer...
Always listen to Denzel.
Lori Larson Denzel is god
Denzel was robbed!! He should of won Best Actor!
matkojapan did you watch every single performance of those who were nominated to make a statement like that?
Jack Willis yeah I did. he was robbed.
Joseph93 I disagree, but I suppose everyone has a right to an opinion.
I want to cuddle Warren. Poor dude was put on a tough spot and he really felt bad about it for the mistake he didn't even make. His expression in the background when that bald prick is all pricked up really wanted me to hug him.
P S 9
The bald dude just thought he’d achieved his life dream and then had it stripped away from him. I don’t think you can call his frustration “being a prick” he seemed super sincere when telling moonlight they won
@Jeepman89 yea.. he shouldve kissed him
The way he snatched the card from Warren's hand :/
Ryan Sheehan he is a pissy prick should still be humble and respectful
Jimmy sounds hungover as hell 😂♥️ Vibes. Just reminiscing on past incidents. What a world we live in 😂✌️
2022 and still the most entertainment moment of the Oscars for a long time.
Who else is waiting for Guilmeros Red Carpet video?
Seth pelepchuk yes!
Guillermo's****
Majo Pereda Figueroa stfu
yuppp
Seth pelepchuk Me! I wanna see him and Matt in it again😂
the bald dude could've handled it a bit less aggressively.
May the Cheeki Breeki be with you I mean, they were humiliated on live television in front of millions and then hundreds of actors, directors, and producers, etc. How would you of reacted in that situation? I don't think he was meaning to be rude, he just wanted to clear up the mishap and get off stage soon
I don't think he was trying to be aggressive, just trying to act confident and showing the audience that they didn't need to feel bad for him because he was being the bigger man. I try not to judge in these extremely awkward situations.
Such a an arrogant prick.
I don't think it was aggressive, I think it was more done in a sense of urgency to tell the Moonlight team that he wasn't saying "This is your oscar" in a symbolic way but in a literal way.
lol nah, the bald dude was tight. He was pretty gracious, fully encouraging them to come up and receive their recognition.
Emma Stone tries to throw Warren Beatty under the bus!!! Too funny.
Jimmy, You the man!
Jimmy Kimmel handled it well. Not Warren Beatty's fault. Someone behind stage messed up. Humans mess up sometimes. It was a very shocking moment for some people. But they will survive. La La Land was still a huge success for everyone. No one died. The end.
Aramis Merlin 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
"Humans mess up sometimes" like Trump getting elected. :-(
Aramis Merlin Well said
Connor McCartney he didn't read the card, Faye did
Christian Smith I highly doubt that...
The producers of la la land just grabbed the envelope forcibly from Warren's hand... I know it was embarrassing but that does not make him gracious if he grabs the envelope from Warren's hand just like that..
8440k I completely agree. It's a sucky situation, but he seemed super aggressive...and it's Warren Effing Beatty!!! He grabbed the envelope as if WB was an incompetent bus boy or coat check girl. I saw no graciousness in any of it.
8440k Well he was pissed. Who wouldn't? That was a nightmare.
8440k I would say it's a pretty decent reaction to have though... imagine if you just found out you actually lost one of the biggest awards in showbiz during LIVE tv and in front of all the top shots in the industry, and you had to react within that few seconds, what would you do? Beside, no one else reacted but him, so I would give him a pass on forcibly grabbing the envelop from Warren'a hand... lmao.
Sherborne Prometheus True. However, the fact that Jimmy et. al. are calling him "gracious" is a little silly. He wasn't gracious. LaLa Land has earned a tremendous amount of money, so I think he'll be alright. I just felt bad for Warren Beatty--it wasn't his fault :-}
sarah paris I think everyone is over dramatic over this they all were nervous and they had to react in few seconds so yeah the did what they can, nothing rude just pure reaction to an embarrasing situation
I got to watch this in real time on my birthday. It was awesome.
For everyone complaining about Emma Stone, please give her a break. She was probably overwhelmed and just didn't phrase what she said very well. Some people were initially blaming her for not getting her envelope like she was supposed to, so she was probably just trying to clear that up. She seems like a lovely person and we all should just be congratulating her for winning.
Poor Warren Beatty. You can tell he really wanted to explain what happened. He was kind of being pushed out (not intentionally) by the producer of LaLa Land. He wanted to explain so everyone wasn't thinking he's an idiot. However, he did seem to hand the card over to Faye Dunaway, almost giving her permission to announce the winner. But you got to feel for the guy, he was confused, millions of people are watching, it's an important moment, and he's standing there wondering, "why does it say Emma Stone? LaLa Land?" "Did she produce the movie?" "Did La La Land win, and they put Emma Stone on the card by mistake?" It was unfortunately. Faye Dunaway just left him flat. LOL!
He clearly handed it to her as if to say "are you seeing what I'm seeing?" I don't think he expected her to blurt out the wrong thing.
I think it was more to let her see why he was acting so weird with the envelope, so she could see it was Emma Stone’s name written on the card and that he wasn’t just being weird. But she just said La La Land rather than look more closely then ran off and left the poor guy to take the flak
I think Beatty was more interested in letting people know that he hadn’t been dissing the award & all it represents by trying for a cheap laugh. Not so much concerned about how he was perceived personally. And he could have said Hey, I realized there was a problem! It wasn’t *me* who blurted out “La La Land!” He was too much of a gentleman to dump the blame on Dunaway.
It wasn't Warrens fault. He's not the one who mixed up the cards and he's not the one who even read it
"Craziest Oscars Ever" 2022: Hold My Beer
The ending of the oscars is like how la la land ended . Both started great but had not so happy endings lol
dammit i wanted to see sitting with matt damon .
AnkiiT We still might fingers crossed
AnkiiT hopefully he hosts again next year
variety.com/gallery/photos-best-picture-mistake-reactions/#!4/crowd-react/ here's a picture of him and matt damon
Well dang. Emma Stone didn't need to get that salty about it. No one did anything on purpose.
Alexx Raven well everything happened so fast and accusations were going everywhere so it would make sense to feel a little angry at not knowing what's going on
Alexx Raven after seeing her interview, I understood that she didn't know that they have card backups. Jimmy said they have two versions of each, so her insisting that she has no idea what happened is legit, I guess
If she didnt know for sure what happend she shouldnt just throw accusations
You people are such an assholes!
I agree. She had the only snide remark.
I like Jimmy Kimmel for being able to laugh at his failures in the most innocent way possible. He's awesome.
It was NOT Warren’s fault. Now stop blaming or we will have a problem.
If only that Same mistake happened during the 2016 presidential election.
Jahleel Johnson 😂😂😂😂😂
Would you really want Hillary as our President? She has lied to the country multiples times. So did her husband during his presidency.
Nick Bonazoli her husband wasn't running and u Deadass saying trump hasn't lied if u say that you a problem
it is actually what happened...the side nobody thought would win actually won, in a controversial way
Thank God Hillary didn't win. It would be hell on earth.
2nd craziest now lmao!
that was rude for emma to say that.. it's upsetting but still.
Did anyone notice Warren checking the envelope again to see if there was another card??
Was he supposed to know who the winner was?
No he did not know the winner. He saw the bottom of the card said best actress not best picture.
yeah and I think that was why he checked the envelope again. To see if the best picture card was in there somewhere
Crystal Rose The cards don't say "best" anything. It just says what or who won. His card just read emma stone, la la land.
Frank Wave it did say best something. If you look properly at 3:15, right at the bottom, under the line it says best picture
Miss universe - mistake Grammy - wrong key Oscar - best picture mix-up.... What's next????
Y FAMILY Election-mistake, already happened well done USA!
Trump
Y FAMILY wow people make mistakes I'm sure u'v made plenty there's no need to point out these things
Trump winning instead of Hillary... oh wait
emily powell do u not understand jokes
I still love this bit. This belongs in Broadcasting History.
thank you for clearing that up, lol, seriously
someone's getting fired
aldo bonzi hey hey!
aldo bonzi *DONALD TRUMP INTENSIFIES*
aldo bonzi who?
the stunt coordinator
They fired the accountants who were in charge of the envelopes 😯
Wow Emma Stone seemed so pissed off when she was talking to the press, I know she talked about Moonlight in a good way, I'm not talking about that but when she spoke about Warren his story she looked a bit upset, she made it seem like there was no way Warren's story could be true.
Kerry H. Wine She was told that they read from the card she had on her.. and the fact that it was her movie that got snubbed, it's pretty understandable she was frustrated given the information she had.
Leen Pels True
Leen Pels but you could tell she knew what was going on when the people were giving their speeches.
right. it's not like she won an oscar anyways...
Kerry H. Wine Also Emma Stone praised Moonlight in THAT SAME INTERVIEW.
No longer the craziest.
