Incredible! A LED strip BigClive hasnt torn apart already!
I particularly liked the dual purpose nature of the RS485 chip. I have to go back and listen again to the explanation, because I didn't get it the first time around!
Do like the Cob lights, they work great with your PCB. Thanks for sharing. Happy Christmas and a Prosperous 2024. 🎅🎅🧑🎄🧑🎄🎅🎅
I'm always fascinated by these projects you come up with, hope you never lose this interest , or you'll end up like me, a boring old repair engineer ha ha, I hope you & yours have a really good Christmas Steve , looking forward to whatever 2024 brings.
Would be very interested in seeing you doing the RX and TX leds with the mentioned buffer. I couldn't figure out how to do it, but I would absolutely love to learn how to do it. :D
in my units ( to speak to solar inverters and batteries ) i used MP9486GN-Z -> really wide input DC/DC so i can connect it up directly to the battery DC bus instead of the AC on the inverters.
Nice video! Been watching your channel for a while, I have noticed you in the comments of a couple of channels I film for… Artisan and Plumberparts. Small world!
Hi Max, yes been a subscriber on James' channel since he had about 5000 subscribers!
Some of the more "pro" addressable stuff uses 24VDC on the DC bus, and the usual serial data. I have some which are a similar size/shape to the 'cabochon' bulbs (the ones you see on the displays at fairgrounds etc) - though each 'pixel' is actually several LEDs spread across both sides of a PCB to give uniform illumination front and rear. I could send you a couple if you fancied taking a look at them? Even at 24VDC though, I setup a run of 240 units, and still needed to power both ends of the run! Happy Christmas!
Excellent. We get a couple made up if you get the mains inpuy etc going. Thanks.Surprising the cost getting them made up is amazing value.
I am just working on an updated design with AC input 👍
I have seen a 12v rgb led/strip. It has the leds in series instead of parallel, from the outside ir works as any digital rgb led.
I wonder if they make shorter lengths of this stuff that is 12v or 5v with true individual addressable leds. still pretty cool though.
So we are see the normal miss-describing of products again. But still a useful light string. Not tried using ESPHome so maybe i'll have to give it a go. I just use Home assistant to control some lights vis a load of Sonoff's
Which antennas are good for ESP32? Anyone have a source where they purchased something that works well? I have some cheap ones from AliExpress, but the WiFi is not very good even with those. Better than the PCB antenna, but still I would have hoped for a better experience. I am using the ESP32-WROOM-32UE-N4 currently which only has u.fl so there is no PCB antenna and no chance of a conflict. Thanks in advance.
and now I wonder if it is possible to use WS2812 in parallel 😅 Not if it is useful or recommended or cost effective. Just out of curiosity.
First. Nice. Have a great christmas. :-)
Any reason you use ESPHome over WLED for digital LED?
No specific reason, I just had it running at the time
