@@robertbrandywine No, look at the chapter ring end of the 10, 11, 1 and 2 markers. They're cut at an angle. The marker at 2 o'clock is clearly a marker for one of the other positions, that required a cut at the opposite angle, like 10 o'clock or 1 o'clock. It's extraordinary that this would be incorrect on a watch at this price point.

there is no way they got the intricate details of the movement so accurate then messed up the color of the moonphase. I think they did that on purpose as a business tactic to sell more watches. If you buy a patek clone and it's perfect there's no reason to upgrade to the newer better clone when it comes out. These clone factories understand how to make money also...
I guess you didn't notice they even misspelled Quality "contral."
Breguet has done similar trick where the movement says 22 jewels and the picture on their website would say 24 jewels, so many reps/fakes say 24 jewels instead of 22 like the gen.

Clone factories can deliver the same dial colour of course (nothing hard about that) but they typically do not deliver the exact same dial because they also want to sell v.2, v.3 etc of their clones

I just found your channel and this is great One more thing you did not mention but that stands out to my eye is that on the moon dial the moon and the stars on the fake watch are not as sharp as on the real watch. Noticed that right away.
I wonder if the owner of the real 5712 will ask Patek to replace his incorrect 2 marker... Interestingly, I have the latest version from PPF and my calipers show it to be slightly less than 9mm thick. My calipers only show 0.1mm accuracy so I can't tell exactly to the 100th mm. The logo on the bracelet also appears to be much better quality than the one you showed. The biggest tells for me are the regulator, the shallow engraving (it appears to be laser etched) and the relatively light winding weight. In any case it is a gorgeous watch. I just don't wear it, even in the house. I have a strong feeling these factories are leaving obvious tells on purpose as some kind of plausible deniability, so they can say "we're making replicas for people to use as decoys or try-ons, not trying to pass them off as real".

A guy discussing microscopic dust particles and small imperfections on the hands that aren't visible to the naked eye, but he misses the fact that not the correct indices were applied?! 🤦🏼♀🤦🏻♂🤦🏽 Since, as he claims, the watch hasn't been opened since it left the factory, this really goes to show how fantastic Patek's QC is.

Pretty unlucky for the content creator here. His point remains, but the reality is he just grabbed a used/scratched OEM to work with and wouldn't really know its history. It's also worth pointing out that *no one* is perfect, not even the demi-Gods of watchmaking. Glad you were able to identify and point this out - good stuff!!

This is the first time I clicked on Wristcheck and I want to see more. I am impressed by the even tone of presentation, the clarity of the images, the studio environment. I also appreciate that the presenter did not judge the replica. After I (with a genuine Patek) was attacked on the street I thought of buying replicas of my daily watches to wear. Then I realized I might be attacked for a replica that looked too authentic. The prospect of being attacked and injured for wearing a $1k watch as opposed to a $100k watch put my situation in perspective. I got a fancy G-Shock but have not lived happily ever after. The G-Shock was very UNcomfortable (not well balanced, hurt my wrist, caught my jacket cuff, hard to read, clunky thing to unstrap).

@@LeMarsouin9 material and movement is dirt cheap with today's tech and resources, chinese brands already made super complicated movement, Seagull for example made tourbillon, minute repeater... for sub 1k$ on their own (not replicating anyone). They copy this movement just because of the brand name and that's also the only thing hyped up the real watch.
Only the watch geeks would spot this anomaly - 99% of people have no idea. Plus personally, if someone knew it was a fake and judged me harshly for it, so be it, no water on my back man I just love the design! They can replica anything. Take it apart and laser scan it. They have to make them for the price point they are aiming for prob $500 wholesale. Gotta admit that’s crazy for $500. Imagine if their budget was $1000 or $1500 per watch. It would be exact. Scary.

Do these movements show up for purchase anywhere as sterile clone calibers? I have no interest in having a fake, but I'd build a parts watch around this movement.
The crazy thing is that this replica can come with a free spring balance wheel and a laser engraved movement for a total cost of $3200. And of course, it is with a fully functional power reserve.
We have yet to see a free-sprung balance on a replica. It's not saying they can't do it but the price of the watch must remain within reach for those interested in the replicas.

They have realised the largest market for "super clones" (they're not super at all) is $500-$800 USD. Closest thing we will see is individuals making super franken clones which we already see.

If replicas are so good at a considerable lower value, that actually means that the authentic product might be overvalued. If a replica of a Ferrari manages to be 90% identical to a Ferrari at a 10% of its price that would mean that buying a Ferrari is not worth it.
You definitely pay premium for the original Ferrari or Rolex, but I wouldn't buy a fake Ferrari out of fear that a cost-cutting part or subpar weld would fail at a critical moment. When you buy the real thing you also buy the peace of mind that comes with the brand.

I have witnessed this kind of thing personally where following my publicly highlighting issues with faked dials on vintage watches, 18-24 months down the line the people replicating the original dials have addressed every single issue that I raised. As an aside, you'd be surprised how difficult it can be - particularly for those for whom the "English"/"Western" alphabet is not their native one - to duplicate fonts perfectly. There are several issues with the fonts here also of course, although frankly in this instance it's interesting to note that the printing of the dates is objectively of higher quality on the fake watch than the original. Regardless of whatever your honourable intentions are with videos like this one, what you have actually created is probably the best possible advert and publicity for the replica manufacturers that they could ever hope for, whilst at the same time giving them clear and specific instructions on how to improve their product.

As someone who would never own either a copy or a real Patek (I could easily though), I'm amazed that the best way to tell this is a fake is have a $50K example handy with which to compare it as well as the knowledge to see the tiny differences. For the person who would want a copy, this watch will pass any "bar" test - even a jeweler couldn't tell this is a fake if he was looking at it on someone else's wrist. I honestly can't believe there's that big a market for these that it's worth the effort to set up a facility to replicate something as complicated as the movement itself. Strange times.

It's actually more like half of that amount. You have to know where to look for with these replicas to find the cheapest prices, most of the sellers you'll find easily are targeting you specifically, basically the foreign market, but if you look for those within the chinese domestic market you'll find they're selling these for much cheaper to themselves basically.

3:02 is measuring watches with metal caliper a common practice? i know they are more accurate comparing to plastics ones but wouldnt that scratch the watch surface easily?
Sapphire is scratch resistant. We only measure from crystal to crystal with low pressure. We also have plastic sliding calipers for watches that are in "brand new" condition.

In today's environment, the moral of the story is: only buy from AD. It's just too risky to buy from secondary market. If I'm spending 30k-40k for a watch I would just have to demand that a guy like Peter meet with me, open the watch in front of me, and show me all the indicators the watch is authentic. For an experienced watchmaker it might take 30 mins but, justified for a customer ready to drop 5 figures on an item. I've had instances where I spent 4-5 hours before I could walk away after buying a car. Why not a watch? You can also do it remotely, over TEAMS video or facetime for out of state buyers. It's not that you do not trust the dealer, it's that even dealers can be fooled.
That's why we do what we do! We authenticate every watch in front of the client if they wish as you mentioned. This transparency is the only way the secondary market can feel "safe." Of course we find things that make us uneasy but those watches never make it to consignment. Very few secondary dealers actually have a watchmaker/authenticator with enough experience to inspect all of the watches.
Any watch enthusiast could tell it was a fake 5 seconds after opening it.

We won't be covering an ALS as it is heavily movement based and mostly precious metal cases. We will focus on stainless steel watches as they are more closely replicated. ALS does not have the same demand as PP, AP, Rolex, etc. so the factories won't spend the time replicating them. Also, the movement quality is far beyond the aforementioned brands.
About the water resistance compare with the original?
as an owner of a replica Patek. I make no apologies. I own many affordable genuine watches, but I wanted unobtanium. and I got it. I'm literally wearing it now and it looks great. Don't care if it's fake.

These fakes are INCREDIBLY GOOD for the price. Most of the comparison on the outside was done with MAGNIFICATION i.e cannot be seen with the naked eye. Fakes can also be "improved". 99.9% of the population could not tell the difference especially if they are not side by side with a real one and without magnification.
What is insane is that those with the money for the real watch will buy a replica to wear in public in fear of it getting stolen.

Until you own the real watch. Then you'd laugh at all fakes. The feeling you get when owning an original Patek, AP or alike is incomparable. I think what this kind of proves is that a Patek-Philippe just isn't worth as much as they sell it for. Even with all the finishing that goes into them, the price is just beyond insane.

With modern technology, a replica will be 99% the same as the original. Even the movement accuracy will be the same. So the question is should you buy a replica instead because it's much cheaper.
The accuracy of this was all over the place, you can see it on the timegrapher reading.

It's not as simple as regularly unfortunately. The entire manufacturing process determines the precision once you get to the adjustment and poising stage. The reality is, yes they are cosmetically achieving close to 90% but the overall quality is closer to 30%. These watches don't last.

Having purchased many authentic watches, it's really hard for me to justify paying the asking prices for them when you can get 95% for a few percent of the price, to the point where if there is a superclone, I will 100% buy that first now before even considering buying the authentic one. Especially for watches without any complications, there really is very little reason to buy the authentic ones anymore.
So you're confusing the cosmetic similarity and the overall quality. Cosmetic may be getting closer to 90% but the overall quality is actually 30-40%. These watches will not last.

But after I got one superclone and I look at it back and forth compared to my authentic one, it's very hard for me to justify paying 20-30x the price for more of them. For watches with actual complications, I can see the value, but not for your basic date function. For maybe $400 USD, it does the job plenty.

It’s a cheap fake, it’s much better to buy a real watch from another brand that a person can realistically afford instead of support illegal business. Not only that because it is a fake the value of the watch is worth nothing. You can’t even pass it on when you get old. In the end the watch will either brake or go in the trash because it is a fake. If it was real it would always be worth something, even if you bought another brand that would be worth something. But a fake won’t give you the real experience, waste your money, and is of no real value. I respect your opinion but a watch is a symbol of hard work or accomplishment. The fake gives neither.

Mark is correct here. This is a temp box that is a placeholder for the wooden box that is allocated to the client when they open chase the watch. The watch must now be removed from the temp box before it leaves the AD.

It’s Very much to do with the movement. Sizes are very different . It would be very interesting to see a comparison of the precision tolerances of the components. These fake watches on face value are very hard to tell apart but when you look at the movements you can see the difference.

Well considering the average Patek is around 100k and you can get a damn near identical replica for under 1k then I’d consider that a substantial savings.
And if you want to make it even closer, you can get all the mods including that gold rotor, engraved bridges and that “patented” free sprung balance wheel.

I've just received my 5712 through a Chrono24 dealer. The quality is incredibly good! However, I wanted to make sure if it's a genuine watch and checked if the watch has a Curb Regulator. It doesn't (i felt immediatley reliefed)! But then I used a caliper to measure the thickness, and it's 8.8mm. According to the manufacturer, it should be 8.52mm. That left me uncertain. But you also state that the genuine one has 8.8mm. Could it be that Patek measures differently? And do all the other websites online simply adopt the 8.5mm measurement that Patek provides?
Thickness is quite gray believe it or not. We measure every watch we consign and even two identical references will vary slightly. The manufacturers always post a thickness as a reference but there is a variance. +/- 0.2mm depending on the watch.
