What I've noticed about Camry owners, they all love their cars.
Camry owner here, ironically I love the cars interior, but it has had non stop problems, but I did buy it used from a veteran, but it was very low miles.
Kevin G that’s super weird
@TCL very weird and sad for me, but it might have been a lemon. It was a smooth car though it was just such a nice commuter and had great quality materials for the time. My friends and I loved that car it would be like a home for us
@@keving7940 what kind of problems??
@@Notyourhost8031 power steering needed to be replaced, it was leaking a lot of oil, and we've had multiple check engines for various reasons I think 2 and 1 now that has yet to be diagnosed ;(.
Seats are so smooth!!!! Engine So quiet!!!! For me the 2000-2001 are the most reliable camry ever!!
This car is incredible, just hit 290,000 miles and EVERYTHING is original except obvious tune up stuff such as spark plugs, timing belt, etc... With over 30,000 miles of redline driving I cant believe how it still runs like new.. even after all those highschool years punishing it!
my silver 2000 Camry LE with a 4-cylinder is just about to hit 400k and still looks and drives better than many cars with a quarter of its age in miles. my last visit to my mechanic for routine maintenance I was assured that I had at least another hundred k to go but he's been promising me that for the last 10 years and about 250k miles ago LOL I love my baby girl
I’m going to buy one in Texas, would you recommend this purchase? What should I watch out for, you know, maintenance wise???
Kip Paseo You should maintenance well enough and try to get to 500k miles! You’d get recognized by Toyota probably lol
solutionsby Buy the 2018 Camry! Otherwise you'll be fine with the 2000 model. I got both on my channel.
Kip Paseo my 2001 Camry 2.2 has 387,000 with original engine and transmission. Is yours original engine and trans? Mine still is the most reliable car I've ever owned. Might switch out for same year 3.0 v6.
C J Has it hit 400?
We had A 2000 Camry CE, it was such a great car, It lasted 17 Years and had 177,000 Miles. But about 7 Months Ago, The Transmission went out (It still drove, but it wouldn't go in reverse) and 2 Days Ago, we sold it to A Mechanic, I miss it so much. It was My Parents but I think it was The Best Car we've ever owned.
I wrecked my 2005 maxima so last month I UPGRADED and with $5000 bought this exact same model with 112,000 miles on it and it runs like a dream. I'm totally satisfied.
I'm going to buy one Monday. 151k $2,100. EVERYTHING works!
Wanted it today but can't get the 2100 out. Hope it isn't gone 🤞
@@robs5579 Mine has 120,000 miles on it today. Still runs trouble free. I've done the brakes and oil changes that it. The vehicle is EXCELLENT. I hope you're able to get a good one.
@@BRYELLSON he says it has no issues. I talked him into holding it. If I remember to I'll come back with an update. I see very few ppl having problems with these cars
@Rvqsx - Yeah as of right now I have about 123,000 miles on it. The only thing that has been done are oil changes and it burns NO OIL AT ALL.. Changed the transmission fluid, brakes, tires rotated and balanced which is all normal maintenance. It runs like a dream and I couldn't be more satisfied.
I just bought this exact car less than two weeks ago with 161,000 miles on it, and it is beyond comfortable, very quiet and smooth. I didn’t mind the mileage coz these Camrys can go forever! I’m happy with my purchase and the car... very very clean
Do you still have the Camry? If so how is it holding up?
This generation were like baby Lexus, if I could buy a brand new 2001 Camry today, I'd be all over it.
Dude you stepped up your reviews. They are AWESOME now!!!!!
great review Cameron I have a 1997 with the 4 cylinder great reliable car my favorite generation for the Camry I love the simple styling of these cars
My favorite car ever, I still have mine and it's 600000 km and still going strong
ياساتر
thats impressive, but not surprising, #1 in reliability
Wow, dude just give up already.
I really enjoyed this video! That car is beautiful. It's amazing how many 4th gen Camry's are still on the road along with the 3rd gens 92-96! I drive a 2015 XSE V6 & my mom drives a 2017 XLE 4-cylinder, both have been very reliable so far!
Great car and review cameron. Was my first! That 3.0 was a decade ahead of its time in terms of smoothness.
I remember seeing these as a kid and thinking that is such a beautiful car but was a bit ashamed to want to own one later on because it seemed like an old persons car because a lot of older people had one back in the early 2000's but looking back that was such an absurd thought cause a lot of young people my age have one.
I’m probably gonna restore my dads car he never wanted to sell it and he recently passed away been trying to do my homework on this car. He wouldn’t sell it because he said it had to many memories from my childhood dropping me at school etc
I hope you got to restore it!
Cameron Car Reviews you stated the 2000 Camry requires Premium Unleaded , That statement is incorrect!Regular Unleaded is recommended by manufacturer!
Great review! One thing. Keyless entry was available on all Camrys. It just was an option for every Camry trim except the XLE. The XLE came standard with it. Thumbs up!
One of the best toyota cars in history! Thanks for reviewing it again but with a higher trim level. Note however: you may want to censor your license plate next time.
I've had one of these for almost 20 years now and all I've done was basic maintenance and it's still just a baby with 200k miles. It got stolen last month (towed off my stall in a Facebook scam) but luckily one of my buddies spotted it and it's back now. I missed it a lot...had so many awesome long trips on that thing, learned how to drive on it. It's a classic now and I'm going to take way better care of it, add some rims, take care of some cosmetic stuff. It really is a beautiful car and a decent ride. I call mine the lady of the mountains due to driving it all over western canada and the Rockies lol.
This is a great review! I just bought one with 160k miles and it's so super comfortable! I have a Honda Civic and this one is my 1st choice as my daily commuter car, I just found out mines leaking oil so I will be taking it in in a few days, wish me and my comfy Camry luck! :)
I have a 99 LE with the 2.2 and it's about the most reliable car on the road. Even with 178,000 miles no problems. These things will run until either you or someone else ruins them.
Shane Unkefer 98 208k! Love these Camrys ! 😝
99 with 242k here :D
Shane Unkefer true dat
97 290k
99 180k
I had 2 of these both 4cylinders loved them both and next week I get my first V6 2001 Camry can’t wait really
These cars are so popular and reliable. There are still thousands of these older rough and tough cars on the road!
Best car review person out there, Cameron, and I've watched a lot in the past few days. Deciding whether or not to repair my trusty 2002 Buick Century, LE. 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love my v6 camry CSI. Emerald green 9 years I have owned this vehicle I have enjoyed every kilometre Kept all maintenance up to date Just clocked 378000 Still going strong Thanks for your review
Simply amazing! Few years ago I've bought the XLE V6 2001 model. Sometimes I comment to my friends that it is the best car I've purchased in my life and the cheapest one too!. I have found a specimen that has been used for almost twelve years and hit only 80.000 kilometers. The last owner was an friendly old man that was a kind of collector, I may say, and was a lucky owner of three old Camrys. Since then, I've travelled across my country, and the biggest trip reached almost 6000 km of a delicious driving experience. Today, with 102.000 Kilometers, and married whit me, my car maintain the same performance in a really good shape. Here, this car is a rarity, and spare parts is quite difficult to find and expensive to buy. Despite these facts, my old Camry is the beloved "grandfather" of my garage!
My uncle used to have 2000 camry it's really a durable and reliable car
The rear bumpers are also bigger on the 2000-2001. I love the front end on these, perfect headlight/grille shape.
Runs into the garage to look at my '99 then comes back to this video...
I like the tail lights on the 97-99
My 97 xle was one of my favorites. Today, drive a 05 xle. Outstanding!
I just bought 1997 XLE V-6, I bought it because I have 10 cars that are too nice to leave anywhere when I go downtown Seattle, so I called this my leave it car when I first got it. Then I grew to love it. Factory remote key fobs, moonroof, Cruise, ABS, Traction control, Tach, Factory mags,Heated mirrors, tan leather, Gunsmoke color exterior, I will be turning 300,000 miles shortly and the oil is still clean and hasn't gone down the dipstick a hair between oil changes. It shifts smoothly without problems and doesn't leak a drop of anything from anywhere. Air conditioning blows freezing cold and the factory AMFM cassette CD changer still sounds great. The factory original struts were dead tired.. Having been in the car business 40 years I knew Gabriel struts from Summit were the only way to go and now it's like a sports car. Great power ,handles incredibly and rides like a dream No, it isn't for sale. P.s. Having been in the Northwest its entire life, and it doesn't have rust anywhere, if you get one, try to get one as this, (no accidents).
UpdAte on it how did the v6 hold ?
Don't want to drive your Lambo to downtown Seattle? I wonder why? LoL
That car is a gem! Low miles and being an XLE is a plus. That engine and the 2.2L were so reliable. My '99 has the 2.2L, but my '01 Avalon had the 3.0L with 260k miles and ran and smooth as new. Nice to see that Toyota finally added the outside temp display on the '00 XLE, I think that was the first year for it on Camry. Corolla had it as early as 1998 on the LE trim. My Camry has 277k and totally squeak and rattle free. These cars are tanks. I love these older Toyotas.
Which is better between the 3.0 V6 and 2.2? Reliability? Also is there much difference in MPG? The figures for the 3.0 seem pretty terrible.
It was such a good car I truly miss it I have a 2020 SE now. The features it had back in 2000 was nice like the automatic climate control and powered passenger seat that was exclusive on the XLE models.
@@ln5747the 4 cylinder are typically better in reliability than the V6
I like your reviews bro. And improving my English by it.
keyless was a package it included a power seat and keyless entry on the Le also you could get a 4 or 6 on an xle or an le,both were great if you changed the oil and timing belts, love those rims and plate frame it makes the car look sharp when that sunroof is tilted up.the 2001 collectors edition gets my panties moist with that two tone paint and wood steering wheel
I have a 2019 Camry SE 4 cylinder but my buddy has a 2000 LE V6 and my grandpa used to have a 2000 LE V6 when I was very little. The 2000 feels a lot smoother and it has less engine noise than my newer one.
I'm a car enthusiast and I still love this car.
Very informative video. Great job sir!
picking one of these up tomorrow and im feckin pumped lad
Excellent vehicles highly recommend. I own a 2020 now that I love dearly. I miss the old XLE V6 that I use to have though.
Very good information on this video. Yes 62k is good for a 16 year old car. Bought my Camry 2001 V6 from a older lady that my landlord knows. Garage kept purchased in Feb. 2022 and it. had only 16609 miles on it. I feel very blessed to have this vehicle.
Small correction: daytime running lights actually became standard in 1999, not 2000. I had a 99 V6 LE (not XLE) with a rare 5-speed manual transmission. Loved that car! It had DRL. 😊 Very nice 2000 you have!
Yeah my '99 has daytime running lights. I think the '98 had them, but only on models with ABS brake option? Not sure. My '99 also has side airbags which shows to be an option.
@@Tennesseestorm76 Oh yeah, that could be. Mine had ABS; I can't remember if it had side airbags. It did have leather seats; maybe side airbags were part of that?
Any difference in the 2001 vs 2000 Camry?
@@msport_erick I don't think so. 2000 was the mid-cycle refresh, and then 2002 was a complete redesign.
Just bought a 2001 camry verry happy with it has 161k miles and runs like a charm
Just picked one up for my first car, it’s in great condition :)
One of the best car I ever own! I have a 99 Camry xle v6 spolier with 88 thousand miles, a fresh babyy!
if mantained properly u can easily get another 150k Miles
@@kushagra7773 can you give pointers on main maintenance services required besides oil
Great review cameron, you could upload a video of the 9th generation corolla 2002-2008. please
Unreal performance. Shocked. It really burns rubber in the most underrated of ways 😂
This is the condition I want my 98 Camry to be in. Long way to go, but working on it! She's on 283k right now.
I just got one, I love it.
I have a 2000 Toyota Camry XLE V6 it just rolled over 414,000 Kms never ever missed any maintenance that needed to be done. I’m aiming for a million Kms
Can you give me some advice on maintenance intervals besides synthetic oil every 4-5k miles
@@frankv2314 basically that’s it Frank just make sure you do regular oil changes at 5000 Kms I’m in Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 I’ve never ever missed an oil change always on time or before it’s due. And just make sure you wash it regularly to keep the body in good shape
I uploaded a video search my name Christopher fletcher it’s of my 2000 Toyota Camry XLE v6
I have a 99 Toyota Vienta GRANDE which shares the same features as your XLE with leather, power seats, sunroo, climate control etc.. I HAVE HAD IT FOR 5 YRS nearly now and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, the torque on these 1MZ-FE is really surprising, love the build quality, i also have a 2007 HILUX D4D turbo diesel and i tell you the interia is so plasticy and cheap compared to my camry, the drive on the v6 camry is super refined and smooth, i have kept mine in prestine condition with tasteful modifications, i run Lexus 17inch GS 300 wheels :D (235s) which is the widest u can go with the camry using spacers, really changes the handling, LOVE THE VIDEO, from Australia
sunroof* , interior*
I have a 2001 Toyota Camry 3.0 Liter V6 LE with a remote entry and JBL sound system. V6 models had the JBL sound system built in. It had the gray interior and cloth lined seats. There is no sunroof and no gold package, but is a Sailfin Pearl color.
I just bought one it's nice run real good
The best car for ever
I have a 1999 XLE the mileage was high at 250k but over a year later at 264k still going strong. I love this car, the leather driver seat is a little worn and my exhaust has little leak nothing to horrendous. I have to agree, I love the simplicity of the older Camry's. Everything is straightforward, everything you need nothing you don't. Still feels solid for a 20 yr old car hope to hit 300k
Update I’m looking at this XLE the 3.0 has 125k miles. You had Any major issues change anything major like timing belt, water pump, leaks?
The XLE came standard with the factory keyless entry system. The trims below the XLE could be optioned with keyless entry, but it was the port-installed Toyota VIP RS3000 security system. Just not as common because...well...not all that many people got that security system.
My parents used to have one of these. We had it up till somewhere around 2010-2015. The main reason we had to get rid of it was because the frame was rotting. A common problem for our climate. :(
I've had a 2001 V6 LE since new! It's still running perfectly. The only maintenance required was new bushings and breaks. I've always said it's the car a spy should drive - it's quiet plus it won't turn any heads. At times I wish it was less reliable because who doesn't want a new car once in a while?
I have three of these and I love them.
I have this v6 Camry, but it's a station wagon. The last Camry wagon was released in Australia back in 2002. It's an amazing vechicle.
And I thought '96 was the last year of the wagon...
@@damilolaakanni in the us 96 was the last wagon, in Australia and Japan the 97/01 Camry came as a wagon as well.
I have a 2001 Camry XLE and absolutely love it. It was given to me by my grandfather who had put less than 35k miles on it. Unfortunately, it recently developed a minor transmission issue at around 55k miles. My car is certainly the exception to the rule, and the issue doesn't affect my driving that much.
Maybe change the transmission fluid ? It's easy to do on these cars.
Definitely a drain and refill on the transmission. If you still have the car
Those and the Nizzan Altima Maxima. Bulletproof engines and transmissions. Probably way better than now
Nice camry, thinking of getting one
Just picked up a 2000 LE with 61,000 miles. Just like new. Amazing compliment to my 1991 Toyota 4Runner V6 400,000 miles.
This generation went out the door for MSRP, they had trouble keeping up with demand for at least it's first 4 years in the generation.
I have one a 1999 with the original black color and blue interier its got 180 k miles and it runs like a new car, i love my camry..
The car that I grew up in !! Crazy now I have a 19 Corolla who woulda thought lol
I have a 2001 Camry LE and it is perfect. I completely understand how you feel about this one
My Dad used to have one of these, smoothest engine I have experienced. Like butter.
the best design that made by Toyota ever. never gets old.
Every generation before 2007 was the best!
@@CameronsCarReviews I disagree. the 04 look ugly and they fall apart.
john ayacko Ya but they were still reliable as hell, when the 2007 generation came out that’s when Toyota started resting on its laurels and put in shoddy build quality. I love the look of the 02-06 generation.
@@CameronsCarReviews to me the 00-02 the the best design that Toyota ever made.
My dream car😍
One of the best cars ever
Wow this car in really good condition 👍🏻
I still get a lot of complements on this car. A LOT of people still love this car. If you keep it well maintained and looking great, you’ll still turn a few heads.
Borrowed this car off an uncle till I find my new car - it has over 233,000 miles on it but drives like an absolute dream. Literally the only 'problem' is that it leaks power steering fluid... a problem that could probably be repaired with a new hose and a bit of TLC. However, not my car not my problem... but I'm seriously considering buying it off him. An absolutely legendary vehicle and still has quite a bit of poke at the traffic lights!
Absolutely agree! I'm in UK and have a 1999 2.2LE with only 40,000 miles that needed a mild refurb after 16 year storage......and it's epic! No regrets. By the way, yes..I do my own servicing and repairs.
What mpg (UK) do you get? I'm considering one but the mpg looks terrible. The 3.0 v6 looks to be low 20s which is awful. Just wondering if the 2.2 is much better..?
I own a 2000 LE with over 300k. runs like new, I do wish the mirrors folded in. It has leather, alloy wheels, and a sunroof which is rare to find , especially in black paint with grey int. keyless entry also. I love the fact it has no ext antenna sticking up from the trunk. They designed it into the rear glass which makes going through the carwash much easier...
where can I fine a used motor for electric windows? it is a 6 cyl 2000 toyota camry
junkyard
I just one a year ago still running fine
Comfortable leather seats and driving this camry is smooth. I wish I had this vehicle as my first car.
Camry- Best car ever built!
this car look so good
Great video.
As I'm typing this, I bought a 2000 Toyota Camry (Automatic) for my first car about 20 minutes ago. All I've done is drive it to wendys to get food, but I love it so much already. It has an oil leak which I'm fixing on the next payday, and otherwise, it's in perfect condition. No exterior issues, no interior issues. 257K Kilometers on the motor, and I plan on putting so many more on that odometer.
I have a 2001 camry right now and there is no problem
my mom had a 01 2.2 le gold package. looked like a v6 model but has the 4 banger. she had keyless entry.
I love this car i got one too, great car.,smooth ,quuet ride as you said.,absolutly agree👍👍👍👍
keep it, its a gem
I can't seem to find much info on the trim levels. What trim level has fabric seats and wood-grain interior?
Has anyone done a side by side comparison of 2000v6 vs newer Camry noise? It's hard to believe that the older Camry is quiter than the newer ones. But there are def comments on vvti being noisy
This car is amazing
This car is really common here in Melbourne Australia, although it’s 20 years old
I had a 2000 Toyota Camry LXE with 305,000 miles...two weeks ago the transmission totally went out...not worth replacing. 2 days ago I got a 2000 Toyota Camry XLE v6! It has 175,000 but that is the sweet spot for a Camry! Love it!
What was it doing leading up to the break? Shifting weird? Jerking.? Usually 4th gear goes 1st
@@baddabingbaddaboo100 I just remember it went out...
this camry was built during the time when toyota was still trying to catch gm as the number 1 automaker in the world. once toyota became the number 1 automaker in the world, that's when their build quality started going down hill.
SteelCity1981 and they’re still the best too haha
I think you're just imagining things, Toyota was and is the one to beat.
Blane Blue Facts
Agreed
mine had a bad cylinder at 315,000 and still drove like a champ!
A Great One of Luxury car @ alltime.👍
How do I maintain the shock absorber in my Toyota Camry 2000 v4
I own one of these, Toyota Australia made these cars, I have the Azura V6, top of the range model, with ABS, climate control air conditioning and power front seats, 4 speed automatic. Very nice car to drive.
did the car come with the tinted windows? or did you get them customized?
I own a 1999 Camry V6 - with a 5-Speed transmission. The car has 396000 miles on it. Runs like new. No rust on the car, since it's has spent it's entire life in Arizona. Yes - it's sun faded - but I don't care. It's paid for and runs fantastic.
What does this gen Camry compare to the 2004 Honda Accord V6? I know the v6 in the accord is more powerful but is the Camry sporty at all compared to the Honda?
Is it just me or has this generation (especially 2000-2001) aged extremely well, to where in good shape this could pass as a late 2013 or so?
Maybe not 2013, but definitely mid-2000s
I always thought these always looked like such quality cars.
With the rims in the video yeah, but most camry dont have those, but yeah great looking car from most angles with those rims. Very stylish.
I wouldn't go so far as to say early 2010s, but definitely early-to-mid 2000s.
Incredible! A 1MZ-FE with 62k miles and that interior and exterior are BEAUTIFUL! Missing the center caps though.
Yea a center cap for the vehicle is 150$ a pop lol
Are you serious? Do you have a PO box or address? If there's anything you need LMK, I can get center caps for these rims for about $10 at the local junkyard. Just PM me.
I drive an 01 burgundy with 162K that's an ohio car, so the underbody is slightly rusty but the body gets waxed twice a year and it's really really clean.
Yea I went to the Toyota dealership and that's what they told me aha, email me!!! camquarterb@gmail.com! These old Camry's are literally the best
junkyard has them
Ex girlfriend had an 01' Camry. Was a very reliable car that rode well. Sad to think she wrecked it.
SRT8 Nation your dumb asf you obviously don’t know shit
@NoH8 lol true
She wrecked your car and your life!
@@ayannasworld2037 Hes not lying. For the most part women dont take care of their vehicles... they just hop in and drive until something fails. But then again many men nowadays dont even know how to change a tire so this statement goes both ways, its just that men often take better care of their cars.
Nicholas Q. Men nowadays know way more then a women. Are you perhaps a dummy, sounds like you contradicted yourself.
