    • I'm a bit confused here.. can't wolves swim? Why are they afraid of the stream

      @emeraldheart9989@emeraldheart99892 жыл бұрын
    • @@emeraldheart9989 Take a stream that is half foot deep. The elk has incredibly long legs; maybe 3 feet. Wolves have much shorter legs, probably about 1.5 feet. The wolves legs are much more submerged in the water than the elks legs, so the elk doesn't have to expend as much energy running in the shallow water than the wolves do. Make the water 2 feet deep, and the wolves have to swim, while the elk can still run at a decent speed. The wolves lose a ton of speed and on top of that, the elk has much more free movement and can 180 charge one of the wolves before they have any chance of turning around. TLDR: Longer legs are better for moving in water.

      @doug2555@doug25552 жыл бұрын
    • pretty sure the elk didn't do that on purpose? the stream was in his path so I suppose that was the only way he could go.

      @-_FENRIR_-@-_FENRIR_-4 жыл бұрын
    • They have the same relationship with birds like how badgers have relationships with honeyguides. Honeyguides are birds which feast on honey , and they can easily find it , badgers can't find honey on their own so they follow honeyguides. Badger brings down the hive , then both feast on it. Wolves do the same from time to time , scavenger birds need somebody to hunt for them , and wolves need food. It's a win win situation for both animals. Also , that bird is mostly feathers. You either need fur or fat to combat cold and birds also need to be light so it keeps a lot of feathers instead of fat or muscle. Wolves know that , so they don't bother. Also , I don't know about you but trying to hunt something that can literally take off if it wants to and chill on a tree that you can't climb is like near impossible. It's just not worth any effort even if they're not getting along with each other. Even if they were to hunt down that bird , it wouldn't even keep a single wolf a quarter full.

  • ive always loved wolves and always want to know more, so i'm just wondering why didn't the wolves go in the stream to get to the elk. is it because of the cold water and if it get on the fur the water will turn to ice? or what?. ive always loved black wolves, even tho they are rare because of the genetics they are awesome

    • because the elk would be likely able to defeat them on sturdy ground while on snow as the elk's mobility is greatly reduced its much easier to take down...

      @teemuvesala9575@teemuvesala95752 жыл бұрын
    • Take a stream that is half foot deep.

    • I learned this from Wolf Quest 3... Its because the elk can run faster in the water, and the wolves can't, because they are shorter.

    • The elk can move faster in the water because it’s taller. The wolves are short and move very slowly in the water and they need to be able to run, not just to chase it but so they can make quick attacks and then dodge the elks counter attacks because the elk can easily kill a wolf too with a kick or goring with the antlers.
