My first flight as a 9 yr old I can still remember asking grandma if anything was to happen at 35,000 ft why we had a lifejacket instead of a parachute.
@luap37567 жыл бұрын
That's one of the best comments I've read almost ever..
@y0u5uf5 жыл бұрын
*A parachute!? HA!* What, because with all the panicking that'd be going on, you think you could properly strap on a 'chute? (It's a harness, not a rucksack.) Especially if it was your first time? I'm guessing some people still wouldn't have the guts to jump anyway, even with their life on the line. Then there's the weather: you don't want to be parachuting when it's too windy. Even without bad weather, you could still find yourself in a region that's inappropriate to land... Hey, like, water! Hope you included the lifejacket as well. You didn't? Oh... Hope you have a knife to quickly cut the 'chute loose and take/cut off your clothes and that you're a good swimmer... Sounds like the kind of thing a nine-year-old and grandma could "easily" handle... :) So, really, you're much better off waiting for the plane to be flown/glided down, pop the lifejacket on, get yourself in the brace position, land (if gear still works) or hit the land/water, and get out when instructed (inflate lifejacket if appropriate of course). Legit question (especially if you're a youngster), but parachutes in planes is not going to happen! Unless you're going skydiving...

Timeless ! One of the best comedians ever 👌

Tears leaving my eyes with the laughter !! 🤣. Comedy genius . Sorely missed .
Easily one of the all time legends of comedy. All original and pure class imo.
Loved that guy all those too many years ago ... His joking with everything and everyone will never age
Without doubt, Dave wasTHE greatest stand up/sit down comedian of all time in my opinion. Dave made hilarious skits, too. The guy was nothing short of a stellar comedian and the best storyteller ever born. Wow, what a talent he was...and what a terrible loss.
Saw Dave Allen perform this material live at the Albany Theatre London in 1990. I lost weight laughing. At times I wished he would stop. I had laughter pains in my gut. He was incredible. I hope his god went with him.
Yes, I am sure that I have a hidden six pack because of him.
very lucky if you saw him on stage, would have loved it !
yes we also saw him at our Queen Elizabeth Theatre Vancouver BC Canada many years ago. He was amazing, 2 hours of non stop laughing.
I was just a kid when I first saw Dave Allen, and that sign-off line of his ['and may your God go with you'] was pretty amazing for the time. Thanks for reminding me of it.
I had the same experience seeing him live in London. I nearly asphixated myself by laughing so hard I couldn't breath.
This man was simply the best, and his work is still simply the best!
Still making us laugh in 2019...Dave, we salute you.
Super hero lego
Super hero lego play
I do also, I just discovered him.
I agree with your comments and the amazing thing about this great master that is Mr Dave Allen is that a lot of what he says is still true to this very day
Dave Allen ... one of the greatest comedians of my life-time
Dave Allen my own favourite. Not forgetting George Carlin. And Stewart Lee... and Bill Hicks was good- 3 gone, and one let himself go ages ago.
Idiot
Funny guy one of the best
Hilarious 😂 Legend. Thank you for the wonderful memories RIP Dave.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Watching this in Lock down here in the UK. The master story teller Dave Allen.
I used to sit with my mum back in the and watch him
@@thefedsarewatching4815 Great memories.
lockdown Friday!
Me too. Screaming with laughter!
@@HelenMyers He was a natural. Stay safe.
My brother and I saw Dave Allen live - both left the theatre in pain from laughing. He did this segment about planes and since then any time we fly we both draw little black fins on the safety cards.
Ireland's finest comedic exponent - I miss Mr Dave Allen :)
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
This man was a genius, laughter personified, one of our greatest entertainers, RIP Dave.
dont know how many times I have watched this, and others from him, but they never fail to make me laugh. He was one of a kind, not been anything like him since.
Wow that humour is timeless. RIP Dave Allen and thanks for keeping our funnybone that much funnier. Keep those guys up there entertained!😍
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Its marvellous how little this has dated over the years. I've seen stuff a quarter the age of this that seems positively ancient in comparison.
in the days when comedians were funny and clever.this guy was at the top of his game.
so could you put in a linke to one of the clever ones?
This was actually right at the end of his career, when he made a comeback at the end of the 1980s. His most popular period was during the 1970s, which ironically was a time when very few comedians were funny or clever (although Dave Allen was).
He is still bloody funny despite having seen most of his shows. Really took the Mickey out of anything and everything. Pity there are not more of hil ilk around.
you may be right - but then, now they're funnier *and* cleverer
@Umberto Bongo prove it
Absolutely brilliant from my childhood to now I’m 60 this genius makes me cry with laughter and was beyond his time for the dreaded BBC
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
A true gentleman, a creative genius, a pleasure to listen to.. . So genuinely funny. Brought so much happiness and humanity to the world... the world loved him, I hope he realized how much his audiences loved him.
A great comedian with the best of the Irish sense of humour. God bless his soul
Dave Allen genius....RIP Dave.... one of the greatest comedians ever.
I am so fortunate a friend told me about Dave Allen! He may be the greatest stand up comic of all time!
I,m going through a real bad time at the moment, I watch him every day and it helps me get through, a true gift x XXX
If thing's are bad please let people know

Dave Allen was a talented funny man, he made me laugh so much, I could watch him over and over and still laugh as much on the 10th time as much as on the first time of watching him..
I am crying with 😃 laughing. This is what real comedy is all about. Dave Allen.the best...👌.
He was really great, down to earth and realistic with his immediate summing up of the situation.
Dave Allen is one of my absolutely FAVOURITE comedians. He is absolutely hilarious. One of his best shows was the one that contained the anagrams that revealed the names of the politicians during the 80's. Satire at its best!
One of the best if not THE best. Brings back great memories watching him with my family, all of laughing so hard🤣🤣🤣
Got tears in my eyes for laughing, brilliant guy, so unique,
I love how he got the most simplest of tasks and turned them into something so funny ie Shopping and waiting in line at the 9 items isle or less. R.I.P. Dave Allen🩵
He is one comedian that leaves me in stitiches so bad i cant breathe at times...esp teh supermarket sketch and the one about teaching a child about religion..
So many comedians have used a variation of this airplane routine… especially the use of a whistle in the ocean… Without doubt Dave was one of the best
I nearly choked on my cheese and pickle baguette watching this. A lot of the comedy that I grew up with doesn't seem that funny today, so if it still makes me howl then that person's a comic genius to have made comedy that's still relevant today.
Reminds me of my childhood. Great talent that TV is completely void of today.
This guy was fantastic. Greatest ever.
Huge fan of Billy Connolly but Dave Allen was the all time king of stand up. A true legend
Two of the best. Billy and Dave Allen. Lee Evans and Mickey Flanagan are good too.
Cant stand Billy C. Ď.Allen in a class by himself
My dad introduced me to this genius of a man, it has been my absolute delight to share him with my kids....especially love the "telling the time" talk! His humour is greatly missed! 🤣💔
Oh wow! I vaguely remember that! Or at least I remember falling apart, laughing! Going to have to look that one up
My lovely, late dad's favourite comedian. Loved watching Dave with my dad, we laughed until we cried. :) :) And I still will NEVER set foot on a bloody plane? lol
I'm new to Dave Allen, but I have been binge watching videos for a couple of months now. Can't get enough of Dave Allen!
There will NEVER be a comedian like Dave Allen again #FACT
Kevin Bridges is the best in the go at the moment.
pcpaulius Jesus, that was a bit rough even if it was Obampot.
For me Dylan Moran is the modern day Dave Allen, he's got his own unique bizarre style as well though.
I miss him, he was a genius, still is, R.I.P Dave 2019.😅
I remember watching this the first time around. It's 2019 now and this is still as funny as i remember.
What a great comedian he was.Still so funny all these years on God bless him.
Hello Anita
I feel so privileged to remember the 60s and 70s on TV. The problem is - the good times have finished pretty much and it's very depressing.
It makes you grateful for youtube.
I love Date Allen. I was brought up with his sense of humour in the 70's. Well cool 😎
Date? V and T are not even close enough for a typo...
STEPHEN NOBLIN I'm a 70's child so growing up watching Dave Allen was timless
@@AlienMonkeyDXB: Prime example of people not reading-through their comment before posting. All too common an occurrence these days.
Every time he says "that's bloody nice of them, isn't it?" I laugh my ass off
No one could come close to this brilliant raconteur. I've watched him and laughed till I couldn't breathe. A much missed legend

Hello Sean
I watched him when we lived in England back in 1973. I missed that when we left. BEST comedian ever...
Only discovered this great comidian in the last couple of years, Now I'm aware I've been missing out on one of the best I've ever seen...
One of the best comedians ever shown on TV
thought dave was great when i was young & still do now 40 odd years later ! :-]
Absolutely brilliant! I remember Dave Allen from my boyhood. He did standup ages before standup was invented. Thank you for sharing!
I started watching David Allen 35 years ago. He was right after Monty Python on Sunday night. He's one of my favorite comedians along with Billy Connelly..
Billy Connolly. Not Connelly!
John Turner Love Billy Connolly. Thank you IdleAl
35 years ago? More like 45....Dave Allen was most popular in the mid 70s and Python finished in 1974....
I remember John.
John Turner good taste mate!
He was on the T.V.last night on BBC 2 first time I've laughed out loud in years, which made me remember how great he really was, I live on my own, so it was a real tonic in these unsettling times
Amazes me. He banned repeats of his shows.
My first flight as a 9 yr old I can still remember asking grandma if anything was to happen at 35,000 ft why we had a lifejacket instead of a parachute.
That's one of the best comments I've read almost ever..
I've got to fly in a couple of weeks so for the love of God please tell me what the answer is??
@@bluesfall3265 Parachutes are fundamentally not practical as emergency devices (in the context of passenger airliners, of course). Now quit worrying and enjoy your flight!
The logic of a child. Love it!
Monty Python did nothing for me , but Dave Allen always had me in stitches
Billy Connolly is good too.
@@TexasDog3 Connolly relies too much on foul language. Real comedians don't need to do that.
Being I'm 36 and from across the pond...I feel I been seriously deprived many years of laughter n KZhead rectified that
Brilliant stand up comedian for all time....RIP Sir !
Whatever people have said about Dave Allen he was a true comic genius, I loved this person he was so brilliant. RIP
I miss him so much. Love Dave.
Love Dave,, from northern Ireland UK, grew up watching from a kid in the 70s, born May 23rd 1968,,
'we're about to make an emergency landing on the side of this mountain' 😂😂😂
dave at his best. love it, sadly missed,
please just like this if you like Mr Allen...........no comments, just appreciation for his comedy.
My wife and I saw Dave perform in Norwich in the 80's. I was laughing and at times crying so hard that I would often miss the next joke. Sadly my wife sat stone faced the whole time. Best 2 hrs of my life.
The best of them all, never to be equaled.Commanded the stage like no other person has ever done.
Man was gifted up to his ears
Billy Connolly, Jasper Carrott, Peter Kay and Dave Allen are the 4 funniest stand up comedians I've seen. I've seen all of them and nearly died laughing.
@Vic Tomised I saw him live in Bridlington when I was about 16. He went on an hour after the scheduled close and everyone missed their buses home. No-one left. He was a very funny man. I also saw Tommy Cooper, and he was hysterical.
Loved this man! Brilliant comedy. He was way before his time!
No Internet, just 3 British television channels and we had the best 👌 👍 comedians, actors and rock musicians the 🌎 world will ever know❤️
I still remember seeing him on TV when I was much younger - and he's still funny now
Hello Pamela
Dave Allen was one of the very few people who got better as he got older. Most performers in anything start like a shooting star then fade away
What a great comic he was.One on his own, How he managed to keep a straight face ( most of the time ) a true diamond geezer.
He was the best comedian of all times.
Hello Chris

I'm a pilot and found this hilarious!
Bloody GENIUS. The master of observational comedy before anyone (Peter kaye etc) and yes he is good too :) Mr Allen is the best..
Reflection, more than observation
Remember watching this when it was first on and still makes me cry laughing
Myself and my brother watched it when it was first on too... we were in stitches... the "deaf bastards" bit had us on the floor
If you want to have another laugh find the one where he is talking about Christmas and rushing around at 5 p.m Christmas Eve trying to find a little light that was manufactured in Korea in 1953? and how you drive around at night around New Year's Eve trying to find a lawn to dump your tree on and then get back to your own lawn and find three other trees dumped on YOUR lawn! It is rib breakingly breathtakingly hysterically funny !! Sorry I don't know what it;s called - maybe someone else can help? And look up the one where he is telling the story about how he lost the top part of one of his fingers!!
Kate Satriani the supermarket one is hilarious one too....i laughed so hard i couldnt breathe ! cried from laughing so hard
Kate: I liked the one where he tells the story when he was a boy and his first visit to the Catholic school. Hilarious!
