  • Have to say it like an angry German! “KUH-Kneee-PEX!” Best hand tools on the market. I swear by them and anyone using them will as well. In this case, paying the premium means everything - forget snap on, yea those are great but the Germans don’t need to brag, Wera, knipex, Wiha, Hazet, Gedore - all amazing tools -

  • 😂 Let's make it even more complicated the brand name founded in 1860 comes from a dated Middle Low German dialect. The words "Knīpen" (Present tense Knīp) and "Expertise" make it "Knīpex". In the phonetic script, it would be written as "Kni:p" with a long 'i:' sound as in the German word "Ki:no". The modern standard High German word for "knīpen" is "Kneifen" and sounds completely different. But the English word "Nipping" is cognate. Look up the etymology of "Nip" and find the ancient Germanic word "knīpan". Anyway, to make it easy for English speakers the official German pronunciation is "Knie-pex" as in the surname of the famous stuntman Evel "Knie-vel" (Which also has a German origin).
