Something rotten is brewing beneath the industrial mecca known as Raccoon City. Unknown to its millions of residents, a huge underground bioengineering facility known as The Hive has accidentally unleashed the deadly and mutating T-virus, killing all of its employees. To contain the leak, the governing supercomputer, Red Queen, has sealed all entrances and exits. Now a team of highly-trained super commandos including Rain (Michelle Rodriguez - The Fast and the Furious, Girlfight), Alice (Milla Jovovich - The Fifth Element) and Matt (Eric Mabius - Cruel Intentions) must race to penetrate The Hive in order to isolate the T-virus before it overwhelms humanity. To do so, they must get past the Red Queen's deadly defenses, face the flesh-eating undead employees, fight killer mutant dogs and battle The Licker, a genetically mutated savage beast whose strength increases with each of its slain victims.

This scene made me afraid of zombies for a long time when I was a kid. When I got older I actually got facinated by zombiefilms. The first RE film had little to do with the games, but it was the best film in the entire series in my opinion. No useless slow-mo's, OP Alice and the zombies were an actual threat.
Same! I used to be so afraid of zombies but now I love them.
You should with the movie that started it all, Night of the Living Dead , 1968 low budget movie by George Romero. Classic …
All movies based on video games, never actually get their movies entirely based on the plot of the games, main focus of the movies based on the video games is they flesh out, the video characters and make them come to life.

That ax dragging on the floor is creepy as f.
When I was 7. I knew of zombies thanks to RE3 Nemesis, being the first zombie game experience I got when I was 4. The second Kaplan repowered the hive opening all doors I knew what was coming and yeah that axe drag actually made me wonder if it was the bald guy that shouted "Oh, fuck the doors!" That team was only sending their to shut the Red Queen down. I don't think the higher-ups at Umbrella knew that the virus had been Unleashed when they sent the team in. Many people fail to realize even if umbrella soldiers had known the best way to take down a zombie is to shoot them in the head it would had been pretty difficult for them to achieve that continuously even if the target is completely still or slow- moving, to this day our modern military and police Force are mainly trained to shoot Center Mass, because headshot training takes a lot of skill and it's time-consuming, because a person's head is a lot smaller compared to a person's chest.
Which is one of the reasons slow moving zombies are just as scary as the faster ones, because even though they move like literal walking corpses it is still hard to hit one in the head, especially in a tight environment with multiple ways of access

Fun Fact: The code for the door that ends up leading to a room where JD is devoured by a horde of zombies and ends up coming back as one later on is actually the birthday of Paul W.S. Anderson (the director of this movie).
The amount of bullets they shot should be enough for most of the zombies in the building, if they would shoot semi, instead of auto and aim to the head instead of body...
Military training indoctrinates body shots. It also teaches you to try another approach if it didn’t work the 1st 57 times.

@@Erin-Thor Last I recall, it was Sidney in Scream 3: "HEAD, DEWEY! HEAD! SHOOT HIM IN THE HEAD!"

*This Resident Evil had the best Zombies & scenario out of them ALL*
How do you "kill" a zombie? HEAD SHOT.
The average headshots to kill a zombie in resident evil is 6 to 16
Removing the head or destroying the brain, but unfortunately even our modern military and police force are mainly trained to aim Center Mass, because training for headshots is time consuming and it takes a whole lot of practice to accomplish, because a person's head is a smaller Target compared to a person's chest.
@@Illunica3000 if the modern police force and Military to this day is trained to mainly hit Center Mass which is the chest, then achieving a headshot will be extremely difficult even from a slow-moving zombie, because a person's head a much smaller Target compared to the chest, which is the reason why it's easier to train someone to hit Center Mass instead of headshots.
They don't know that. This is the first time anyone had encountered zombies. The Umbrella commandos had no idea what these things were, or that removing the head or destroying the brain is the only way to put them down. They learn that later from the Red Queen. Not to mention, like Frank Farmer said, Police and military are trained to shoot center-mass. That means to aim for the torso. Bigger target, and all the vital organs are stored there. Better chance for a kill. Realistically, they wouldn't be going for head shots.
My same tought 21 years ago and now.
When you don't aim for the head.
They didn't know that yet. Red Queen will give the tip later.
That part that Michelle Rodriguez had snapped the zombie's neck and didn't get up after that, should had quickly been an indication to tell the rest of the group that the way to take down a zombie is to shoot them in the head not center-mass.

The way how JD died is truly horrifying. But it's also annoying when it doesn't happen to a more hateable character in a zombie movie, or in any movie that were to involve zombies/undead creatures.
