After narrowly escaping the horrors of the underground Hive facility, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is quickly thrust back into a war raging above ground between the living and the Undead. As the city is locked down under quarantine, Alice joins a small band of elite soldiers, led by Valentine (Sienna Guillory, Love, Actually) and Carlos (Oded Fehr, The Mummy Returns), enlisted to rescue the missing daughter of Dr. Ashford, the creator of the mutating T-virus. It's a heart-pounding race against time as the group faces off against hordes of blood- thirsty zombies, stealthy Lickers, mutant canines and the most sinister foe yet. Written and produced by the visionary director of Resident Evil, Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien Vs. Predator) and directed by Alexander Witt, RESIDENT EVIL: Apocalypse is a superior sci-fi suspense sequel.

True
I like how soldiers and cops in movies forgot what stepping back is
Seriously they empty mag after mag with little effect yet just stand still and get over run.
Stepping back to where? The zombies are everywhere.
They’re getting swarmed and overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. You can’t say that in black ops zombies that’s not how you die everytime you eventually get overwhelmed by the horde.
Tank controls bro 😂
@@aviniciussouza100 you are blind or something? They could have followed these three dudes who fall back, for what seems the way they went isn't narrow or blocked at all
This is the only part of the entire series that actually tried to somewhat recreate sequences from the actual name, namely the intro to Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
Yeah, honestly, Apocalypse is the most 'Resident Evil' of all the movies. This was the closest we got to the films actually following the games. While the other ones merely borrowed elements from various games here and there, Apocalypse was more or less an adaption of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis with nods to some other games as well.
Apocalypse also said Leon Kennedy was Jill's partner, and he died in the mansion. Only for Paul to forget what he did and brought Leon back for a sequel. Only for the following sequel to just throw him away again, like all the others. Yeah. Everything after this was better off without the RE title.
@@SoulstrikerV I don’t remember that bit?
@@JWALK4R Leon being dead in Apocalypse? It was near the beginning. It was just an article in a newspaper. I think it was in Jill's apartment. It says Jill and Leon were in the mansion. That same mansion from the first movie? But we know we didn't see them.
@@SoulstrikerV ahh okay I’ll have to revisit the movie
Ahh yes, The good ol'Swat tactic of letting slow walking combatants slowly eat your entire fireteam one by one while you stand there.
Well I mean running out of ammo, getting surrounded and panicking wouldn't help...
Thank God They call them . Special weapons and rescue systems. Imagine calling them King julien unit.
@@danielvolosin6614 is there really people who justify these zombies? slow zombies don't makes sense in any popular movie, they easilly could be destroyed by trained forces, the only reason because those zombies are more popular than fast zombies like in 28 days latter or world war z it's because fat people wouldn't survive in those scenarios so they dislike those movies. an out of shape guy would easilly survive twd apocalipse so they picture themselves surviving in those post apocaliptic scenarios.
@@williamei3166 i totally agree with you dude ,these zombies can easilly be killed by being stabed in the head by regular people now we have soldier well trained and WITH GUNS so c'mon man
I'll play devil's advocate here. World war Z has better explanation on this just look up the battle of Yonkers for the training part.(especially on the part about aiming for the head) Other part has to deal with coordination, remember that most of these guys are police officers or STARs (which have a lot more training) so fighting them head on is basically suicide. Also switching between targets is gonna be stressful so don't expect it to be like COD. UBCS on the other hand they're probably spread out very thin, wiped out, out of ammo, cut off and panicking. (A flash game called Road of the Dead 2 can also be use as an example for the military had some control of containment til they started running out of bodies or started to get outnumbered). Well what the hell do I know? Still an enjoyable scene to watch. Plus I love the looks of those crown vics for some reason.
This scene had more zombies than the entirety of Welcome to Raccoon did
I didn't even bothered to watch it,cause it was so bad
You still watch that trash movie?
@@urthiti No, I don't still watch it. Once was enough for me and never again.
Raccoon City was terrible and also the best Resident Evil movie by a country mile. The Jovovich films get unbelievable nostalgia goggles from everyone.
Ouch.
I have zero military experience, but why would you set up in an area where the zombies can come at you from multiple angles and over run you? 😂
You gotta make people stupid or foolish in movies to make it last longer.
Unlike us, people in resident evil don't have much knowledge about zombie. A lot of polices get killed by lickers, crimson heads.
That’s why I’m kinda done with zombie stories unless they’re fast moving or at least stronger and durable. Military and police would obliterate them so quickly Lmfao
@@calebray4168 the WWZ audiobook (NOT the movie) was pretty refreshing.
It was because they needed to delay the zombies to move people out the city or winning time to let civilians move to more secure areas. At least that was the reason in the game, and you can infer the same here because there was only one way out of the city (the bridge one, the others were blocked).
You just gotta love that close-up shot of the R.P.D. riot shield helmet after they get overrun by the zombies. Such a great little nod to RE 3. :)
I was thinking the same time.
Did nobody tell the cops and STARS officers that they could run away lol.
NPCs aren’t that smart
Tank controls, dude... They just kept the R1 pressed
You havent watch this. They were not allow to leave. And they are also fighting the umbrella soldiers.. but they could have thought them off easly.. the zombies are so slow
Shhhh! You can't have them knowing they are allowed to do that.
You couldn’t aim and move back then
If this movie had just focused on Jill and Carlos and no Alice it would have been the best resident evil movie so far
Yes, it could've been the best.
Disagree. There was no such charisma from other actors
True and more characters like Peyton with Jill
yeah, would have been a better movie like that
In my opinion they could have still woven Alice into the RE3 Nemesis storyline of the film without the T-virus powers. Have her and Jill work together despite their own traumas and make it an excellent adaptation of the game. In a perfect world Alice would be just a hardened survivor from The Hive escaping the hospital and meeting Jill’s group along the way. And imagine the mental anguish of Alice watching Nemesis chasing after them trying to kill Jill and remembering who it was 👀
3:52 that kick of Jill, just i love it.
Understandable, but such a kick will never work in real life
@@wulfheort8021 from a zombie with no balance? Maybe
@@linkslayer15 you'd need some serious imbalance, even for a zombie. those types of kicks are just cringy, it's much better to do a sweep while standing up, it will work better and you don't have to go to the ground yourself. there is a reason you don't see these sweeps in combat sports like Muay Thai and MMA.
@@wulfheort8021 from a decaying zombie that's been underground rotting before they got infected tho
@@linkslayer15 Just the entire thing, they make it seem like they get thrown in the air by the force of that kick. If you train some MMA, Muay Thai or Kickboxing you will very soon realize you need to apply quite a bit of force to sweep someone, even a decaying zombie has still some weight on it and when it stands up, all its weight is on the legs, so in the best case scenario, with such a fancy spin the zombie would just fall over, not fly away.
Alice changed a lot from the first movie to the second. In the first she was like "im not letting anyone die", and in the second she wants to kill someone before they transform. She's like that character that becomes an avenger after passing through traumatic stuff.
Because the first movie was a masterpiece , but second one is such a trash
@@mrboy9658 i dont think this is trash, its good. But, yes, the first is a true masterpiece.
She is more hardened at this point she is like ''Why delay the inevitable?''
Although she doesn’t help this to look more serious anyway. Just a charisma bonus
When people around you have low survival rate, you start to grow detached
I love this movie. The first is technically better but this one is my favorite in the franchise, and surprisingly a pretty decent zombie movie overall.
Yuri's zombie food🤣🤣🤣

This scene is kinda cool but yet kinda vexes me. If Anderson was trying make the famous opening from RE3, he should have had the police car line up in a defensive line.
This scene was ripped straight out of the intro to RE3. I love it
This is probably the only resident evil movie that took concepts from the games
Ah the one moment in these films that actually tried to capture my childhood. Before the director in 3 just went "ah fuck it." For whatever it's worth the games inspired a book I wrote at least.
Yeah! They captured the whole feeling of loniless and desperation from the games, if only they would take a different path from the third one...
You wrote a book based on the games? Can we have some info?
Where can I check your book? I'd love to read it
Take Alice out of the movie and tweak a few things and this is the best of all the live action movies. Jill and Carlos were perfectly casted in this movie.
Nope, it wasn't in the budget.
problem was, that this resident evil franchise was only made by Paul W S Anderson to give his wife a stage. they didn't care at all about the resident evil Brand accept throwing in some easter eggs
Commander: RETREAT!! PULL BACK!! Soldiers: command unknown, please try again.
I never got this scene if you know the zombies have broken through all defenses outnumbered yet the cops still stay allowing them to basically be stuck dead in the center of Canaballistic freaks. You would think run but no they choose to get eaten instead. Another thing why do people decide to walk through cemeteries during zombie outbreaks. 🤔 I sure as hell would’ve not stuck around that long
Just my opinion. First, either the scene is scripted (like other zombie movies/shows) or they're too scared to move. Second, they did not know that the corpses in the cemetery can be reanimated since they're buried with kilograms of dirt and rotting.
@@benfrank9622 Too scared to run but not to stand and fight...
If you’ve ever read the zombie survival guide by max brooks he’ll tell you that it’s actually one of the safest places to stop and take a rest in a zombie apocalypse due to other people being too scared to venture there and being so deep/decomposed they probably wouldn’t reanimate and on the chance they do they’d have no chance digging through their coffin and 6 ft dirt, and with more modern times, more people are being buried in concrete boxes on top of that to stop grave diggers 🤷♂️
Resident Evil: Apocalypse is the only zombie movie where you can see a super-soldier use unarmed combat on the undead
Because it's stupid, you're gonna break your skin in your knuckles and be exposed to being infected from their blood everywhere.
Omg these zombies are well organised. They emerged suddenly at the same time. On the one hand, I was surprised how quickly the virus infected the soil.
Come on Yuri didn't need to throw a grenade for 3 to 4 zombies. Him and Carlos coulda popped them with the heat.
maybe a homage to the UBCS soldier in the intro just tossing grenades left and right
Gotta make it look badass even if it can be done with a few bullets.
0:02 Great crossfire
The later movies were more and more terrible, but this one feels like the best one. It's the closest to the games (still takes big deviations but eh...) And it feels still pretty grounded, before Alice starts doing all the stupid wire-fu stuff in later films. Plus the zombie combat feels more grounded and realistic.
"omg help! We've been SLOWLY overrun by slow zombies! Why couldn't have we just walked away.... At a fairly good pace?"
Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 are the best movies to me!!!
These guys have some crazy quick aim. Youd think this would be a sinch for them
Alice and Jill DOMINATED during that graveyard fight! So badass.
0:45 Well, this killed the 'MOOD'... XD
That was an unexpected cameo indeed.
I'm guessing that after he left (or fired from) Evanescence, Ben decided to look for some other jobs, then decided to do some extra/background character for RE - Apocalypse.. 🤷♂
@@steel2bonez I didn't even know it was him until I researched it on IMDB. I really wish those who played the zombies in the film can tell us how it felt to be in their perspective for this film. The behind-the-scenes shows how the zombies were trained, but does not have individual testimonies of the actors who played the undead except for Raz Adoti (who played Peyton in the film and there was a short scene he was a zombie)
Ahhhh, the good old cemetery zombie movie scene.... that made absolutely no sense here, since the T virus doesn't reanimate already dead cells🤭
The thing about the casting in this movie is, that the guy playing Carlos looks more like Chris than the one they chose in the following ones.
I personally like the first movie and this one because in a way it does seem to follow from the first movie and its better than the 3rd movie
I always thought growling and snarling zombies sounded cheesy. I mean srsly. Someone comes up to me and they're growling and snarling I'm gonna think they're on drugs. But if someone is coming up to me blood soaked lips, grey pale skin, and they're moaning and groaning like old school resident evil games, I'm gonna be scared shitless. Zombies shouldn't growl period. They're not animals.
not growling, but groaning, and gurgling
Yeah, I never quite understood why modern zombie films and TV shows make them growl and snarl. Why? I get that they're dead, but...they're still human. They're not animals. It doesn't make sense for them to be making those sounds. I always preferred the moaning and groaning of old-school zombies. It's more disturbing to me.
But they are thats why they eat people theybe been tsken back to their most animalistic instinct it even says it in the movie lol

What i like doing is seeing how easily it is that the zombies are just extras. For example, at 0:05-0:06 watch the zombie woman in the white sweater getting shot. She makes sure she uses her hands to ease herself to the ground.
They probably didn't pay her enough to feel the impact 😂😂
Best argument against defunding the police I've ever seen
the cemetery scene is next to impossible coz they were already dead and are 6 feet under(they should have been).. even if the virus is airborne it won't affect those that are buried in the cemetery.. they should have just gone with some zombies that are freshly turned ones..
Agreed, besides freshly turned ones are more possible than ones that are already a month or more dead, yeah sure it gives off a scary edge but still a virus can't bring back what's already decomposed.
Or a morgue
Still, imagine getting through the coffin first
0:59 NPC deaths be like

As much crap as Paul W. S. Anderson gets for these movies (deserving so) atleast he re-created this iconic cut scene from the opening of the origional RE3. The remake didn't even bother; just used stock footage one would see from b movie zombie films.
I think that game used footage from this

One of the extremely few cool moments from any of the movies
The only seen in the movie that respected as source material
My only gripe I had with these movies (of which I absolutely love and can’t wait to bend watch them all) is the lack of consistency with the OG characters. It’s like they didn’t add in the OGs until later when they were an absolute last minute thought, and then haves them disappear. The ending cliff hanger to Retribution had me excited because most of everyone (minus Jill Claire and Chris) were there and the set up was nice. But after that Ada and leon just disappeared without a single trace not even to be mentioned in future movies?? Or how about how Chris fell off the map after being reunited with Claire…it’s a version of RE where the zombies won not humanity. So where would Chris have to be that’s more important that with his last and only family members. And don’t get me started on Barry

At 1:56...ugh... The little things matter people. This is a nitpick, but it just shows the lack of effort these movies did when it's based on the damn games. I do appreciate them trying, but they still failed miserably. In 1:56 they were trying to make it seem like the end of the intro for RE3 PS1. But what the director, producers, and the others don't understand is that in the game, a zombie doesn't just come up to the helmet and stares at its reflection. It's stupid and pointless. It doesn't even make sense. In the original RE3, when that scene happened, we see the reflection of a police officer turning into a zombie, who then gets up, and you catch this on the reflection of the SWAT helmet. That is what happened. Epic fail on this movie's part for these things.
