My best friends Jamaican co worker was there hyping walters up so much my friend actually believed he was gonna win. I was there laughing my ass off telling them Walters was trash, bum, had nothing for loma. Walters did nothing in the loma fight and proved me absolutely right. I haven’t seen his co worker since.

  • I lived in Jamaica between 2011 and 2017, and I would often visit my dad who lived in Montego Bay, the hometown of Nicolas Walters, once a month. Whenever you drove in to the city, there was a huge billboard of Nicolas Walters (sponsored by Fontana pharmacy) that you had to pass. It was there for years. But in 2016, when Walters lost so shockingly to Loma, the sign was taken down quick time. I mean, the next time I went to see my dad, the sign was GONE. And all of a sudden, he became an unknown, like he never existed.

    • @@angeloduarte1941 Nothing wrong with losing his aura of invincibility (for boxing fans). Fighters scared to lose their 0 is a curse on boxing, for those who are still undefeated. Loma will look back and see that tactically his team chose the wrong plan for an opponent like Teofimo. Trying to wear out a strong, fit athlete with misses in the first 6 was their downfall. He didn't fade as they expected and was able to hold his ground for the last 6 rounds. Styles make fights. Minus the funky scorecards, I'd say Teofimo would still be an underdog in a rematch. He outpointed Loma to a very good win, but in reality, he did have a 6 round head start.

Hes a champ for sure but compared dudes like Ali, Leonard, Robinson, Dempsey, Duran, Jones, Hagler, Foreman, Frazier, Chavez ect. Hes actually subpar imo. The thing I did like about his antics was that in the end he made it out clean with all the money, no braindamage, major scandal (aside from a few questionable things) no long prison sentence or drugs. When your job puts your life health and future on the line thats a smart endgame but cant help but look at it like its cowardly. The fight was only stopped because after several rounds of gasping for air, randomly squinting and repeatedly spitting out his mouthpiece, McClellan himself took a knee and refused to continue. It's not like Gerald quit because he was taking a beating in there, he quit because he knew something wasn't right.
