Herja is roughly translated to "wage war" and is one of the two new albums by Danheim (2018).
Herja contains Viking War Songs and Epic Viking Battle Songs. In contrast to the Fridr album, Herja is based on a darker atmosphere and are inspired by the struggles, battles and hostile times of the Viking Age.

  • I'm a norwegian currently listening to this after 13 godforsaken years of social isolation and depression, about to take my first (but not last) 6am jog. TIL KRIG, TIL VALHALL!! Update: It went incredibly well. Update v.2: 3 years in, still going upwards! There's been plenty of highs and lows, and progress to recovery is a slow and grueling process, but the value of the progress made is immeasurable. I haven't jogged every day or been very consistent with workouts, but I have always been determined to get better and reclaiming my life. It's a marathon, pace yourself, and don't give up!

There is a silent war(not so silent) on white man and white woman i would say, l just hope that, the Viking blood stays strong. -Odin is with you.

Odin during the Vikings, was the "all father". They supported Odin's being and his laws. They also sacrificed animals and humans to please Odin to bless them for battle. Poetic Edda also states that tyr names resolves to the word " god". But implies it just states he is "a god". In Edda he is knowing for the law bringer. Read the poetic Edda and the prose Edda :).

A lot of wars would be solved with a blast of danheim, from speakers tied to a tank...a tank that shot love! Lol

  • This album reminds me of one of the most important day of my life I was 6 or 7, and upset because people and cousins kept on calling me "that white little one" (in the South Pacific, it signifies you're not like the others and you can't play with them) my mother saw I was angry and said "son, don't worry if people say you behave like a white person or that you don't belong to this land... there's a reason for their misunderstanding of your thoughts, words or acts... you are what you are, the way you were supposed to be... it wasn't easy for me neither... you have to know that one of your old man was Danish, which means that you have old Viking blood in your veins, which also means that you're different from those kids: that's normal... be proud... and get out of this room, go craft yourself games or toys" That day I understood... In a small Pacific Island, I was right to behave differently, look differently and see things differently because I had something only a few had: norse blood Now that my family became aware of this and also because of the Vikings series, they don't call my sisters and me the "whites" They call us "vikings" instead and we are proud Today, we are loved for what we really and deeply are Skål!

That is THE best and only metric that can be applied to a set of sounds in order to identify a simple thing: WILL such creation be called a masterpiece or a useless rubbish (pop music we call it). And? YES, Danheim is totally able to build a composition of sounds that changes the mood. Moreover, the atmosphere is 100% immersive. Thank you. Your products are of a proper quality. As always.

  • My soul feels more alive than ever when I listen to these songs, I am aware, fully entranced, connected to something greater, something profoundly instinctual. I'm overwhelmed with the desire to dance around the fire under the canopy of the night sky.

  • Man this kind of primal/tribal ambient music is quite different from anything mainstream, and I'm no expert but it's rare to find a project that makes you want to move and dance like most of your music. I love Danheim!
