Homemade Stump Destroyer machine

Stumps from felled trees have always been a problem for me, so I decided to make a stump grinder. For the drive I used a 400cc engine with a power of 15KM, I made a cutting disc and screwed the knives with a carbide blade.
For safety, I put brakes on the wheels, and a safety switch that turns off the machine when released.

    • I thought the build/shop looked familiar at the beginning. Then many of the work habits/build quality made it even more interesting. Before seeing your face I figured; either you have a talented twin brother, or it's you. Any new content for you is welcome. God bless.

  • I wish I had the money to build one. All I have is a reciprocating saw ,axe and a shovel. I still have large roots to cut.

  • I’ve got a couple of stumps that need that done. Can you come over and take care of that? Just kidding I’m going to make one with my twist on it. I’ll send you a picture when done. I’m an old fart so most of the time it takes awhile. Thanks for the idea!

  • Did they not have cutting blades that pointed inwards as well as outwards? Would have made a more effective cut on the forward push and removed more material faster. Or am I missing something really obvious? Very nice machine though, thanks for the upload 🙂

    • Generally, now there are many types of blades, I built the machine almost two years ago, then there was a very small selection of cutting blades, now you can make a cutting knife with much more effective teeth :) Thank you 😁

    • @@InfinityGarage-ig8py I thought that might be it, it is such a well built machine I didn't think you would have excluded them if you could have used them in the build 🙂

  • Most excellent, sir! At least one wheel brake is necessary to hold the arc distance while you shred, or keep it parked on a slope. Are you selling plans or dimensioned drawings for this model?

  • Where did you source your cutter teeth? BTW awesome build.

  • Bad part not all people have a lath to make everything. So how much did it cost you to make this. And what the rpm on the tooth end

  • The wheel needs to be bigger. Nice work, a bit too much for most home handymen though.

    • I bet if you had enough power that would really chew up a stump in no time although a single blade did it pretty quickly too.

  • No. It makes one more thing to maintain and would cost $2000-6000 to make. Also, the average person is not going to have a lathe or some of the tools or skills you have. The stump you had could have been cut partly w/ a chainsaw and finished w/ a circular saw. I have your skills.

    @twagner6155@twagner61556 ай бұрын
    • $2000-$6000 to make? I could make that for under $1000. You can buy one for $1500 new. You can buy a 24 inch PTO driven one for $2500. I think you need to check your math.

      @johnnybegood9285@johnnybegood92854 ай бұрын
    • You can't make one for 1000. A new lathe, drill press and welder and the cost of new steel plus other materials, yes cost well over $2000. It is cheaper to buy one and that was my point.
