I love the way Adrian just smiles and says ‘I’ll add it to my list’. That must be the longest list in the history of the world!
Yes he makes me smile 🙂😂
Did I miss something? From the title I thought we would see the gate reveal?
@@eleanorchapple8772 I missed it too.
Looks beautiful & am loving the lamp
Lol, he's on camera and recorded. Of course he is chivalrous. Lol. 😂
Progress, progress, progress! The doors, the floors, the walls, the dressing room! Y'all are unstoppable! Well done Carole and Adrian!
Thank you so much!
I am positive Adrian can redo the doors. If he can redo the floors he can do the doors. The boy has talent. Love it all!!!
Yes, and maybe have them converted to double glazing, should be considerably cheaper than replacing them! You'd likely have to add some kind of mouldings to the outside though to accommodate for the thicker glass. Single panes are usually 3 or 4 mm thick, the thinnest commonly available double glazing is 10 mm (two panes of 4 mm glass with a 2 mm gap I think, or maybe 3+4+3).
Adrian should get a medal for the patience with the salon floor, it will look great.😊
The both of you are like Energizer bunnies….you just keep going and going and going….fantastic progress!!
The walls looking really good with all the greenery removed and the floor is coming on a treat. Can’t wait to see it finished. You’ve both put a tremendous amount of work into the chateau You must be shattered.
Y’all need to look into restoring the doors yourself. Abatron wood epoxy is what you need to restore any rotten areas. You can rebuild any areas that have gotten really bad. It’s a great product. I think I recall Terry using it in some of his window restoration. Ask him what he thinks about it. ❤️😊
I agree, and was going to suggest the same!
The doors look much better than the windows Terry restored. I wonder if you can restore your doors. It won’t be a nice job to do but well worth a try. Terry can guide you through the process.
I was going to suggest the same. With the experience Adrian now has with the floors, he might be able to replace the rotten pieces of the doors. I had over 30 casement (crank-out) windows cleaned up and rotten pieces replaced by a wonderful carpenter, window by window. I’m in Florida USA where humidity is a killer, and we have lots of rotten doors and windows. Our Hero Adrian is up to the task!
I remember reading that one of the leading US window restoration experts quit using epoxy products because she found the wood right next to the repair tended to rot very quickly, so I guess I'd prefer letting in new pieces of oak.
@@Ragnar8504 I have seen many restorers cut out bad sections and replace with new wood if they are able to do it and achieve what they want. The epoxy is just one step in the overall restoration process. ❤️😊
Suggestion: Place marble matching the fireplace hearth on the door thresholds up to the point where the whole room wood floor begins to prevent water penetration. It looks very smart & ultimate practicality. ❤️🙏
I have considered this
Carole thank you for saying you are proud of your husband for his doing the flooring. I watch a lot of KZhead channels and don't hear one compliment their spouse as often as they should so thank you. And what a detailed designer you are I love your ideas for your private dressing room. Can't wait to see the fabric you choose for that wall. I love your taste your a very good desiger.
Thank you so much!
It’s all coming together, especially that floor Adrian it’s is a masterpiece! I agree with Carole’s thoughts on her dressing room, especially the curtains going to the floor, we’ve all had these moments! Just saying you were looking very glam tonight Carole, In readiness for an evening out ?? Enjoy it both of you! 😄🍷
Yes! Thank you!
Full length curtains in your dressing room is the way to go, but it all looks absolutely stunning!🤩
What an amazing job on curtains! I normally hate short curtains, but yours are just so pretty. I think a very narrow console or some kind of creative paneling under the window would make the curtains look very intentional. And wow, what a progress on the floor! It's almost done!
After all that wonderful job, you both certainly deserve your evening out ! I cant believe you ve already brought so much enhancement to the place. Congratulations to both of you!
Thank you so much!
I just thought of this...Instead of making floor length curtains for your small dressing room, Adrian could build a narrow bespoke cabinet under the window to take up the space which will supply you with some storage (drawers or doors or a combination of both) for cosmetics, toiletries, etc. I have to say, you both have amazing skills and energy!
Carole, absolutely go with the floor length curtains! Your vision is always spot on. Loved seeing you dressed for a night out as well! AWESOME vlog today!!!
Thank you so much!
Floor looks amazing, love the natural wood doors and full length drapes 👍🏻❤
Gosh Carol everything is so beautiful you could make a ton showing chateau tours at the weekends. You will get oohs, and ahhhs. Get china chateaux made by royal dalton, coffee table books, tea towels and coffe mugs. Each depicting just one room.
Great idea!!
i have seen the first video when you have found sevaral doors in the wall ( at least one fort the people and one large for coach ) and i have not realized that it was the main entrance for the Chateau. Great work ADRIAN. I have seen the evolution for the parquet (Gran Salon) . You are the winner after a rough battle. CAROLE works hard and has always the good ideas.
The fabric for the dressing room wall is lovely! Under the short curtains may I suggest shelving or a bookcase or some sort of narrow cabinet where makeup supplies etc can be stored? And the floor in the white room is really starting to look sharp!
I think this is a great suggestion.
Everything is coming along so beautifully! I'm wondering... what If you built an arched pelmet from OSB, shaped to match the size and shape of that top section of the windows, upholstered it in a fabric that draws from the curtain fabric and the wall fabric, (fanned-out pleats maybe) then hang the curtains behind the bottom of the pelmet... it looks like that would bring them pretty close to the floor, and if not some heavy fringe at the bottom would make the difference and could be echoed on the pelmet. Just a thought...
Carole and Adrian. I am amazed by your talent and patience. Great, great job you guys!!
You look beautiful Carole! Love your little dressing room! Adrian such a great job on the floor! Congratulations on nearly completing it! Bravo to you both! Love you guy's! ♥
That parquet is a work of art (how many times have I said that). Well done, Adrian ❤ Your vanity room is taking shape beautifully, Carole. Understand you being a little disheartened, the workload is relentless. That window and view are magnificent 💖
? can you move the curtain rod closer to the window to meet the sill and put longer decorative ones where the short ones are now with a valance that covers the rods. The insulation from the heat and cold in the curtains you made is amazing for that room and the shorter curtains would protect the longer ones from sun damage. I'm sure you will figure it out but I absolutely love the shorter curtains on that window as the room is so small.
The little room is just so beautiful and elegant!!! I LOVE all the cut mirrored glass accessories with that mirror! I think the floor length curtains will not only seal the cold air gap, but will look so elegant as well, especially if they have a little "puddles " on the floor! Oh and YOU looked very lovely too!!!
Thank you so much!!
You both do everything so perfectly! I enjoyed this video! Thanks!!
What you can do, Carole, is to add an extra length of fabric to the bottom of the curtains in your dressing room, perhaps in a different color that would complement the decor. This way, if you cannot find the same color fabric, you can still utilize them, if you wish. If two tone is not your style, perhaps you can use the other curtain you mentioned. As always, you both have done a great job.
I did something similar, adding some embroidered sick fabric to the plain silk curtain I had that were too short on the window, lcame out really well. even organza or embroidered organza possibly.
That's what I did and they turned out stunning!
I think she should try that maybe with floral curtain material with the same tones as most of there windows will need full length to the floor anyhow . 💛
Maybe the same fabric as what goes on the wall? 🤔 I agree it could look smart with two fabrics. Good idea!
Everything is beautiful as always, what lovely people Carole and Adrian are, hugs
Carol have you ever considered using antique rods for the curtains that swing?? That's a suggestion for you 🌹
So many details in order to complete! I love the attention to detail. I love the vanity area!! Beautiful! I agree that longer drapes would be right and it would add to the elegance! Beautiful choices, Carole!
Everything is beautiful! When you look back at where it came from, it's an unbelievable transformation. I'm so glad I'm not a perfectionist! You can be your own worst enemy. There comes a point when you become the gerbal on a wheel, going as hard and fast as you can...and all you get is exhausted! Thank you for taking your time and sharing with us. 🇺🇸
Carole finds a way to fix problems as they arise & succeeds in wasting nothing!!! It All Will Be Used Somewhere!!! Love It!!!❤
Carole, why don't you just put a lick of paint on the doors so they look clean till you are able to replace them? It would be a shame to keep the shutters closed especially wit spring coming.🥰
If you extend the shelf from the bottom of the window the curtains would work great. The shelf would block the light and you could set things on it ! Easy fix !💗😊
You could also, at some point, build shelves with doors for storage to fit under the windows. 😊
Totally agree
Very great job done by both of you. Its exiting to see these videos.
Wonderful! Hope you had a great dinner out! You are quite the team! I would leave the curtains as they are, you will leave them pulled back anyways won't you? Loved watching the ivy come off,,such satisfaction from watching you guys work😉👍
Adrian the floor is coming along beautifully. I can image your excitement when this project is finished...I hope you and Carole will take some time to celebrate your accomplishments. Re-energize a bit before the start of the next large project.
Carole and Adrian are extremely talented and hard working. I have watched many of the videos, if I could l would love to be in a position to help you out. I love everything that you are doing with the place. Adrian is a saint to always smile and say that he will add it to his list. ❤ the videos I will keep watching and looking forward to seeing many more updates.
Carole your makeup was amazingly well done so have no fear your artistic MOJO is still strong. Cheers from Toronto
Carole you look beautiful all dressed for dinner! Your plan for your dressing room is perfect. The curtains to the floor will truly be worth the effort!
Yes! Thank you!
Oh don't get discouraged! Sometimes taking a break and going to a different project for a while can help bring inspiration back. I do like the idea of having corner shelving to maximize and enhance the room. Adrian, I think you also need to add to your list a weekend of R&R for the both of you!
So true!
Wood epox will work on the rotting wood, check it out. This can be done in warm weather. Use primarily for restoration of windows and wood framed doors.
Long time viewer here, first time commenting. Wondering how it would look if you hang the curtains beneath the arched part of the window? Would that give you the length you need? Exposing the arch might look lovely?
Hi sue and thank you for the comment. To me that would look a little odd. I'm going to make them full lenght when I get more fabric
I feel for you when things don't work out the way you planned, but I know you won't stop till you get it the way you want it. Adrian's list keeps growing. I think your both doing awesome.
The work you two do is so high end and great quality. Always so lovely!!!
Couple of questions. 1. Was the original chateau entrance that small door that had ivy near it? Hard to believe that such a beautiful chateau would've had such a small wood gate as its entrance. Was expecting to see some large gate with stone pillars. If that little wood door wasn't the "chateau entrance revealed", then what was it? I watched the video twice trying to figure that out. 2. What is the small room with the vanity going to be? Thought maybe you were making a closet since I didn't see one in the bedroom but the lamp and mirror seem like there is another (fancier) plan for the little room.
There are large wooden gates to the side of that door with large stone pillars
Adrian the Floor is Gorgeous
I love the short curtains. I think they look just fine in a small room. Well done.
I admire all your very hard work and attention to detail! Great progress!
I think those doors are beautiful. The wood is beautiful. I think sanding the whole thing down and put a finish on them, they will be perfect and you would not need to replace them. They are original to the Chateau and I can't think of anything that would look better. The old saying, "they don't make em like they use to", is the truth. Beautiful. That space in the vanity room, behind the curtain. Could you build a narrow shelf across there, to use for your products? The curtains would reach just above that and look perfect. And even when they are drawn back, it would still look perfect. And last but not least is the floors. It is so beautiful, and the work to put it all back together just blows me away. Such a labor of love. I am looking forward to seeing the whole room complete. Adrian you are so gifted.
Thank you 😊
Your boundless energies and work ethic is so inspiring. Well done, both of you!!
Carole, your attention to detail, together with your creative spirit and vision for each space you work on is amazing. I haven’t been watching for long but I can sure see the dedication you both have to restoring and beautifying your Chateau.
Thanks so much 😊
Absolutely love your team work.🙃
Another idea: 💡 you can use gathered fabric on the wall. You just double the width of the wall, gather and staple top and bottom and cover your staples with molding strips. It look gorgeous. You can use the curtain fabric on the walls and make your dressing room a little gift box!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ just a thought. 😉🙏🙃🙂
Thank you so much for opening door to your home and live. I recently started to watch your videos and I amazed how much you doing yourself. It is very hard but you always smile. Best wishes Olga.
Welcome aboard !!
They aren't servant's doors. They are modesty doors so the lady could crawl into bed after changing into her night clothes without anyone seeing her. Many of the beds in Chateaux have rooms behind them which were dressing rooms.
A very busy week, I am just getting to Sunday’s video now. Wow, everything is coming along so nicely. Adrian, I feel the end is in sight for the floors. Carole, the little dressing room is going to be so pretty when finished. Have a lovely night out!!!
Thank you Brenda 😀
I love how they're taking something old and forgotten, and giving it new life. And they're not just stripping it down, and making a McMansion out of it, but they're REALLY doing research, and reconstructing from what's left of the original finishes to make it as close as they can afford to the original beauty of it.
Love, love, love your progress. You two are amazing. I didn’t see original the original entrance as the video was named though, just ivy removal from a solid wall.
Beautiful job! I love how you approach the puzzles that you run into then come up with great solutions that look fabulous.
Carole in your dressing room could you put a bigger window ledge near the window to make a bigger shelf, just a thought
That was my thoughts too. Beautiful potted plants on that enlarged window sill would be so nice and fresh!
You both did a great job! And Carole, you looks stunning with make up an curly hairs!!! 👍👍👍
Thank you so much!!
I admire you. Tremendous work.
Wow……. Your both doing such an amazing job.I so look forward to your videos, again thx for sharing your journey I love it 💕
Our pleasure!
Looking lovely
You are both doing amazing work! Love from Vermont
You both do excellent work!
Hang in there. Restoration and renovation are quite the roller coaster ride as you well know.
beautiful job on the floors...... and lovely work in the dressing room.....
Amazing jobs both!💜
The floor is really looking magnificent. I like the idea of floor length curtains in your vanity room. Those curtains look beautiful. An alternative would be to put a radiator box in that space and keep the curtains. Either way it will look beautiful in there. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Looking forward to seeing what Carole and Adrian have been up to last week.
oh my goodness what a chore. you have my sympathies but also i think if i were more handy i would love it. i hope you get to enjoy france too! i'm so inpressed
You are both doing great work. The exercise of patience is always admirable
I admire your practicality when dealing with a problem; a wall is weird, just put fabric over it - problem solved. Also, I like how you admit melting down without letting it get you down. You seem to just carry on working despite it. I guess that's where the British "stay calm and carry on" comes from. You, and your heritage, are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your "just get on with it" attitude with all of us. We all need a bit of it these days. God bless! 😄
You guys deserved a nice evening out to refresh the spirits...you guys are so hard working!
Yes! Thank you!
Carole....You look very pretty in the final scene, all done up for the dinner Adrian mentioned!(?).
Oh thank you!
Good progress!
A suggestion...In your dressing/make up room, can you extend the window sill out to meet the drapery? That might solve your gap problem. It would also give you more of a ledge to put pretty things on, like plants or perfume bottles... Just a thought. Love your videos and seeing all your hard work! 🥰 It inspires me to get busy in my own house!😉
I like the wall treatment and the curtains. Your little power room is going to be gorgeous when done.
❤ so lovely !
Those oak doors....ask Ash and Terry about the wood hardener they painted on the window frames of their chateau to stabilise the wood prior to sanding and filling. Might give you an extended time
I love your decor choices for the small makeup room
Carole - why not take a few days break? You are both very hard working and tenacious and relentless in your work ethic. It’s exhausting watching you both. Are you the kind of person who sometimes needs someone else to say, ‘hey, step away from that paintbrush’ ps you’ll be putting long curtains there as your a perfectionist…
I was just so frustrated with the room, as I couldn't find a solution 😫 I've been out a few times and in the garden, but back to work tomorrow, thanks Stephanie
You look so pretty, Carol!
Oh thank you!
I love the idea of putting the crush velvet, I think I heard it said, on the whole wall to the left of the mirror with a little shelf for the lamp. It will keep that room warm. But the curtains seem to be to far from the outside wall. Even it you make longer ones you still loose a lot of space. Could they be mounted inside of the window frame? Or add sheers against the window. Any drafts from the glass would be kept in that area. The floors are amazing in the salon. They will be beautiful when finished. The wall you are taking the vegetation off of looks like the back entrance to the Chateau. Is it wide enough for the car or truck to enter? Amazing stone work stayed intact after removing the vines.
It’s as wide as the other main gate
Full length curtains will also give the illusion of severely reduced floor space when closed. And considering that blocking the view is more important than blocking the light, id keep the shorter curtains
It's sparkling and 💎 🔸️ 🔶️ 🔹️ 💠 beautiful
Carol you do fantastic work everything looks absolutely beautiful.
Thank you so much!
Love what u both doing but definitely full length would make the room look much more glam
So much progress.Hope you had a lovely dinner that night.A much deserved break.
Great job and many thanks!
Sharon so very kind of you, still cosy in my jumper too
The floor is really coming together!! Well done! Carole, sorry that you had a bit of a bump in your dressing room design, however, your solution sounds amazing and just love those curtains. I agree, full length would probably be better...but they look beautiful anyway. Go out now and have a wonderful evening and have a glass of wine or two...💝
Or three 😂😂😂
Amazing work (art) Carole, you’re very talented.
Wow! The floor is looking amazing, the faux marble baseboards look fantastic too. Wow, your workmanship is perfection! Just……Wow!
Thanks so much!
@@ChateaudelaFerte wow, the close ups of tonight’s video of the grand salon is perfection, every inch is perfect, the walls, fireplace, gold leafing , painting & flooring, etc, etc it’s like (NEW) by the way I agree your make- up room needs floor length drapes, maybe a little puddle add French drama. The fabric you choose is so rich looking 👍
Adrian the floor is stunning, Carole your idea is really good for the doors🥰🌻🌻⭐️👑🥇🇺🇸the door looks so great maybe do the whole doors would save you lots for a long time till replaced, you always do the best
I had to re-read my comment and re-watch the the vlog to see that the shutters need a lot of room to swing open and so now I understand the issue you're having Carole, however the drapes you made are very nice and knowing they are heavy and insulated with the interlining is brilliant. As well, you did an mazing job on the doors in the salon and I'm impressed at how you take something damaged, cracked or rotten and revive it to a like new appearance, Just incredible!! I was wondering why you chose to orient the vanity on the left side of the window and not across from it? I was thinking the light would be better when it's reflecting off a mirror opposite the window right back at you, but imagine it may be a tight squeeze that way?? Anyhoo, you rocked those beautiful curls. The coverage of the original chateau entrance was short and sweet! 🤔 Adrian it is great to see you at the home stretch on the parquet. Another amazing job done in this restoration. Bravo 🤩.
Peter, there is alot of natural sunlight omig through the vanity room windows and so for safety reasons, chose not to have the mirror reflecting the sun, as im not upstairs often enough to remember to close the curtains!
It’s all coming along nicely! Xx
Thank you! 😊
Great job with the flooring Adrian, and the painting Carole. Hope you enjoyed your dinner out, and got some time to get your minds off DIY.
We did! 😀
Lovely work so far. You could try putting up a deep valance and dropping the curtains down on a pole just below the arched window. This might work if the length continues to bother you. A longer lined curtain would help with air leaks too.
