For large damage that may be too involved for the upholsterer or otherwise too expensive to replace for the consumer. This method adds leather where it is missing. The stitch and repair material give structure, texture and color and leave the feel and appearance of the original piece.

I DO NOT SELL PRODUCTS. A detailed explanation is given for each step. As with all my videos, this illustrates my own personal preference based on decades of experience. Please note that I don't sell products and am not profiting from these videos nor are they sponsored. So if you have questions about the products then please contact your supplier. (Like they’ll know!)
This is just great! I didn't even know something like this is possible.I really enjoy all videos you make.Great work, both repairs and videos!!!
Thank you! Most repair techs don't know this can be done or are even willing to try. I am changing the industry yet again by bringing these ideas to the techs who are unwilling to come to the seminars for further education. Rick
Great repair, sub patch never looked right on those holes covered with mesh, appreciate your time and talents.
You sir are not only a great craftsman but one of the generous ones who are willing to share your expertise and hard-earned knowledge. Thank you!
Thanks Dean. It's my last hurrah for the business.
Do you have a link for the products that you use?
Best repair video I have ever seen, Absolute quality workmanship!
Absolutely amazing! My favorite of the work you've posted so far. The original music was a nice touch.
Its nice to see a Master Crafter at work. Thanks for the video
Best repair video on youtube! Perfect and clean job
That is seriously so impressive
Your repair looks incredible!!! Our 5 month old Rottweiler just ripped a huge hole in our brown leather sectional. Sending this to my husband so he can fix it! Thanks for posting!!!
Dogs are leather furniture's worse enemy! You are very welcome.
You, Sir are an Artist with leather!
Thanks! There is trial and error involved. I'll have a vision which often involves several steps, each of which no one would think to try. Then work out each step and build on it. It's fun really. And keeps the work interesting and rewarding. Glad you find some value in it.
I thank you for this video l learned the baseball stiching don't know if I well ever get do this type of job but it was nice seeing you work that job. It came out great. Sure wish I my jobs had that turn out
Big fan of your work. This one really impressed me. Looking forward for the next repair video.
This is so fun! I love the history of this style of repair that you included. I have an opportunity to get a gorgeous free leather couch that has a hole in the top of one of the backrest. I would be excited to try this repair if it all works out :D Thank you!
Unbelievable work!!! This is amazing.
Excellent job. Seen some car upholstery repair guys getting amazing results using similar techniques using silicone caulking and acrylic automotive spray paint. Thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge!
YOU MY FRIEND ARE A TRUE PROFESSIONAL! EXCELLANT VIDEO AND WORK!
Fantastic video with fantastic craftmanship on show, found the repair footage both fascinating and relaxing to watch. Much respect from the UK
Thanks Scooter!
Wow, you are a true artist. Beautiful work. A picture is truly worth a thousand words. Watching this was fascinating.
The begining part is similar to a drywall patch. This is really interesting - thank you for uploading this video!
Brilliant job !
Totally Awesome!!! WOWZA. I'm gonna try it!! I'll have to figure out all your supplies first. Thanks for making a completely thorough video!🤗
Incredible! Great Job 👍
My dog, Luke, took a piece of my couch, larger than the example shown. This will be my weekend project. I like the history the visible patch adds to the couch.Thank you.
And if it's too big of a damage, you can hand stitch a new panel using the Double Needle Blind Stitch. First anchor all the corners. Then one side at a time. 👍 Thanks
Beautiful job real a craftsman and patience certainly pays off.
Master craftsman at work. A treat to watch.
Great job. Love it.
I use the condo spreader as a backer for my grain pad and get great results, awesome repair on this one
GREAT JOB!!! THIS IS AMAZING
Glad you enjoyed it. I've recently posted another similar. #52

Thank you, Tony. Everyday has it's own challenges. So we all learn something in the process.
This is exceptional work! Well done. I am very impressed.
Awesome video! thank you for sharing. But after a while all i could concentrate on is the crumbs in between the cushions.
WOWOWOW agreed didn’t think possible!
All i have to say is WOW!
Incredible workmanship ..I would have you fix my leather damage..
Very good!! I would like to know what product you always use at the end in the spray gun.
Awesome!!!👏👏👏
Beautifully work! And thank you .. could you send a list of the materials used and sources where to find them
Amazing!
Very good
Excelente trabajo eh visto varios videos para reparar mi sillon destruido por mi perro y es el que más me ha gustado solo una pregunta como se llaman los productos que utilizo para ver si los consigo aca en México muchas gracias por compartir sus conocimientos
Hi! LOVE your videos. Came home today to find out that my lab has eaten a chunk out of the corner of our leather couch cushion. I was wondering if you could tell me what glue you used and what coloring agent? Thank you so much for sharing!
Fantastic job and video. It would be very helpful to link to products and suppliers for us and them.
Super great job. Surely wish my work came out that good. Also think l might have learned the baseball stich from your video.
well done
Interesting technique. I torn my couch moving and trying to decide how to patch it up.
Hey bud what's that white patch you using with the iron ?
Truly amazing
The repair is amazing it would help to know all material used and tools for someone with no knowledge
Yes Jesse. Because of my position in the business and because I am not sponsored by any product distributor, I have left it up to each technician to consult with their current supplier... just to make it fair. This info is being made public to help promote awareness of what can be achieved but is not represented by the vast majority of repair technicians currently offering service. Thanks
If only plastic surgeons could do this good work
But I've lost a few patients over the years! Thx
Amazing 👍🏻👍🏻
You're a genius!! And that dog is so naughty!!!
Your a true crafts man
It’s amazing and dedicated work thank you! Hope I can fix my couches with cat scratches …

What's is the brand of the heat curing compound
It would be great if you do spot repairs on plastic like ABS and PP. I always do one panel.
I have one upcoming on PP
Hi, what repair compound are you using with the paper method ?
Where do the tools and filler come from? I live in Australia.
an exact product and where to buy would be most helpful, thanks.
Amazing. You are so talented. Can you do my seats!!
What an amzing job you have done
What are the materials you use?
Looks great. How much did you charge for that?
Bravo!👍
Did you use water base-acrylic pigments?
Genius!
Did you use water base-urethane coat for finish?
This was the best one I seen. What are the products name you using and where can I buy the products if you don't mind ?
Hi sir,how do we call this kit and where to get it.Thanks
Genius!!
Amazing! Sir, what temp did you use with the heat gun? Do you think it is ok to iron the stitches to make it flat without heat cure compound?
Usually about 1000F on the heat gun but in the video it looks set less, maybe 750F. You definitely could try ironing first without the compound. I have another method using powdered adhesive too which I will show in the future. Thanks for joining in. Hope this helps.
Hi can you tell me what brand of heat compound are you using...Thanks
Yes, I need to know as well. Can anyone answer this question?
its just wow
Wow!
Genius
And it is structurally sound, *amazing* work; how much does a job like that run?
If you have a minumum for residential calls, bear in mind that this involves two trips and there is a pickup and delivery charge. You may figure two hours on the repair. It could be done on site but I also wanted the luxury of filming it since some were doubting that my previous video shown some years ago to the industry was authentic. This, of course, is the one channel that shows you everything exactly as it is, warts and all. Thanks, Jose.
Also it's not the first time I seen your video. But before I saw your video I thought the only thing that could be done was upholstery
Loves this! Do you know of a company in Los Angeles area that does this?
There is no one else doing this that I am aware of. But you can always inquire of one the services locally to see if they'd give it a try.
wish I could have learned from you
Been doing vehicle interior repair for 26yrs, I have several questions can I email you?
Amazing indeed 🤔💝
Grt job👍
Better than perfect job. I need your advise for my recliner sofa repairs, how can I reach you personally.

I imagine the owners of this piece were really pleased - nigh on invisible repair.
What did you clean the repair with before the dye? My dye always looks glossy on top of repair compound. I was told a degreaser so I tried Simple Green but I still get the shine sometimes. Thank you and great videos.
Z-7 Cleaner. You didn't say what dye you were using- that's likely the problem. Also, there is a flattener available for the heat cured compound which is helpful especially on flat surfaces.
I use a lacquer based dye from Superior.
@@7791Jeremy yes I thought probably so from your question. Water base dyes would help. I did source the flattener for the vinyl compound a couple of months ago and John now carries it. Use about 2%. Ask for a sample👍 Thanks for contributing to the channel.
Hi, I would like advice on the products you always use, 1 the filler you use immediately after stitching and the one you heat up to make the weave, can you give me brands or a site where to buy them?
As stated in the description, the purpose of this channel is not for DIY but for techs in the business. I encourage each one to inquire and purchase through their current supplier. This way the whole industry benefits equally from my videos. It’s the only way I can be fair given my status in the industry. Thanks.
Amazing work and results! Congratulations on your skills ! Just brought a set of leather furniture damaged by my tenants and since I have plenty of time and limited budget, decided to do similar work.Could you ,please, provide names/brands of materials you use?I would be most grateful. Also, what type of thread you recommend?Thank you!
Alex, thanks. Please contact your current supplier for the products.
@@a.r.t.srealrepairsforrealc8247 The matter is that I reside in Ukraine and, unfortunately, the selection, especially of good quality items ,is rather poor. They may simply not have the necessary products.I would trust the advice of a local expert,if there was one who would share his knowlwdge, but I don't know any and I don't trust advertisements of the big retailer.I was going to order the items via Internet in the USA,that's why the actual brands names matter. Anyways, thank you.
Damn sir, you're doing magic o_o
Best in business...
Great demo on this! What products did you use?? And, where would we find them to purchase? Thank you
Thanks Rigo. I'm not advertising products here nor do I sell them. Please check with your supplier.
@@a.r.t.srealrepairsforrealc8247 then what’s the point of this video if your not telling people what products your using ??
@@mrsem4374 Please consult your supplier. They are the ones who chose not to sponsor. This video is presented so that the public can demand that 99% of repair techs up their game.
Wow! ❤
WOW! Amazing work. I know so much practice and experimentation must have gone into creating your method. It's so generous of you to share it with others. Not being a professional myself, I hope to find someone who has this skill to do the repair I need. Any chance you're in the Baton Rouge area? lol
Thanks! And it looks like you've got more to worry about with those two storms headed your way. Be safe. I do know someone in Lafayette but his website is no longer active. I'll see what I can find out for you.
@@a.r.t.srealrepairsforrealc8247 Thank you! I'd drive to Laffy for this level of skill. Much appreciated!
@@rachelcrawford7313 If you can private message me on facebook I could send you some info. Not sure if someone would like me to post their details here. facebook.com/ricky.lane.52687 Thanks

So with baseball stitch, is there a needle at each end of the SAME piece of thread?
And what kind of thread is best to use?
Correct. Hand sewing thread in this case. Thinner machine thread when the material is very thin and there is less tension. Check with your supplier.
What brand repair kit did you use?
All these items are not in 1 kit. What I use is a collection of tools over time. Thanks
A.R.T.'s Real Repairs for Real Customers shut up
Hoping to do the same repair on a beautiful Italian chair I got for free on Facebook marketplace. A young golden retriever chewed the corner of the arm.
How much would this cost? DIY or professionally?
Most techs will, I think, have a minimum service charge for any residential call and that might figure for one hour of work time. So if this takes 2 hours then X2. Surprisingly these days if pick up and delivery are required then that alone can equal or more the cost of repairing. I'm beginning to think the moving business is more lucrative! Thanks
