    • Mike Tyson was not 'the smallest heavyweight ever'. Not even close. Marciano and Tua were shorter at 5'10", although the bullish Tua weighed in at 230lb to 250lb through his career. Tyson was 5'11 and fought around 220lbs to 230lbs for most of his career. Dwight Qawi was probably the smallest in height at only 166 cm, or a tick over 5'5".With a surprising 180 cm / 71" reach for a short, powerful man, Qawi started as a highly effective WBC and WBA light heavyweight champion, moving into heavyweight later in his career.

    • If the size would not matter, there would not be any weight categories in boxing or kickboxing, etc. Of course, if someone is 500 lbs and looks like a sack of shit barely standing on his own feet so it is quite different than Lennox Lewis fighting the same quality boxer who would be a featherweight. • Feel free to respond to this, I'm just curious where it goes at this point. I'm 5'6" male 130-138lbs is where I sit most of the time. I am half Dutch-Canadian and Phillipino so I also have a smaller build, but trained on my own for roughly 10 years of my life in various Mixed Martial Arts. I have never been in a Dojo, but always had an interest in Martial Arts so my friend circle was kinda weird over the years. I've met people who have had 15 yrs in Boxing to 5 years in Karate etc. Taekwando, I met someone who did Keysi once. Muay Thai was a big influence on me as well as Kali for the use of the 8 limbs and basic weapon handling. I have sparred and (In practice) attempted to fight with them in somewhat serious boundaries. Again.. I don't have Dojo or Ring experience we'll just say I was a bit of a troubled kid so I fought a lot in school and had some street credability in my early to late teens. People I met even on the street could take on any one of the guys who knew any one of those Martial Arts because they had fought like their life depended on it once upon a time, and I have had both parties sit in the same room and admit that to eachother. Size in my experience only matters really if someone is pushing you or gonna sit on you. Punches can be avoided, and if you can take a hit you can try to block them or lessen the blow and then slip it, but you can keep distance maintained if your footwork is good enough it really doesn't take much other than some basic work with a car tire and a jump rope to be able to do that.. No joke. Footwork and striking accuracy are important. If you get into a fight whether it's the ring or the street and you fight like you would like to go home and see your family again, you can win. Just knowledge from an old boxer. I've won and lost to people who are well 50lbs over my weight and in some cases of work I have had to bring people that size down to my level to get them in restraints. Bigger people are easier to deal with if you can grapple, and that as a smaller person I will say has been my only downfall with weight difference. Height isn't any different if they weight 10 to 20 lbs more than you. It will come down to what you know and what your opponent knows and "most fights will be 50/50 in the ring." I havent seen any Broadcasted version of fighting that's been really unfair, they have their rules. In the street or the bar or at a park, Alleyway, your car, etc. it's all going to be unfair so skill will play massive role and how fast you can supress the situation. The streets are ruthless sometimes but you don't have to be, keep your weapons sheathed and train with good intentions also try to remember you aren't the Hero in everyone's story ya fuck'n guy stop getting offended by people saying "Oh I'm bigger than this guy I can totally win." until he has your head in a guillotine choke and your scrambling like a sick dog on the floor. Respect eachother. Fighting the wrong person is enough to put either party in a Coma and nobody wants to do that to anybody lets be real.

  • I box and kickbox since age of 14 till today 33 years old. Ive never lost a fight from bigger opponents. Size really doesnt matter. Its about technique, speed and strenght combined. Bigger guys sometimes have a bit more power in their punches although i most of the times punch harder and have more power than them. They are slow and easy to destroy. I always prefer bigger opponents cuz of this and till this day i knockt them all out fast. Bigger fighters are the worse fighters and cant handle punches in their faces. Their chins and cheeks are like glass. Its fragile and breaks easily.

  • Size does matter, that's why Weight Divisions exist, there is indeed a disadvantage for someone bigger since he is a lot heavier, his punch won't be as fast as the smaller guy, but that doesn't mean the bigger guys punch is really slow, if you get hit for example a fat guys punch, you'll be sent to the hospital right away.

    • @@kristim6632 I have plenty of experience; there is some merit to what you say. Being on the small side myself, I have a few KO's but equal training and experience, speed and power with differing weights is a potent factor. I know I would hate to have to fight someone like myself; but I've been KO'd only by bigger guys. They usually didn't want a rematch, tho. And some were just psychotic and did not quit until they died (not by my hand). But fighting as entertainment is barbaric. I trained for self defense but avoiding trouble in the first place is best.
